infrared41
Plus, you're one to talk about having other favorite teams, he who admitted to jumping onto the Packers' bandwagon after the end of this past Super Bowl. No, I've liked the Packers since I was a kid. And here's what I actually said after the Super Bowl.Enjoy the win Packers fans. Thanks for letting me and all the other playoff bandwagon jumpers borrow your team for a few weeks. Now it's time for me to return to the sad reality of being a Cleveland Browns fan.Are you serious? I thought you were a fan of the Packers and Browns... learn something new everyday.I am a Packers fan. I'm just not enough of one to "claim" this Super Bowl win or anything. The Packers are at the top of the list of many NFL teams that I enjoy watching but when it comes to being a "true fan" (whatever the hell that means) my loyalty is to the Browns. It's complicated. Lights Out
Your most "painful" memory is your team coming up short in their attempt to win their fourth Super Bowl of the decade? And that relates to being a Browns or Lions fan how exactly? You just gave me a great idea for a poll. This is way off topic from the NBA, but it's a good question: what's more "painful" (in a sports context) - rooting for a team that sucks yearly like the Browns or Lions, or rooting for a perennial playoff choker like the Chargers or Eagles? Especially after loving on the Chargers for so long, I took your signature as more of a low-blow. That was my mistake, and I already apologized to you, remember? The "other favorite team" ticks me off from people who either also have apparently two favorite teams, like Infrared, and those who slam anyone who dares to have more that one favorite team. Couple that with the fact that the moment your teams (Patriots and Spurs) turn into a dynastic team, and people immediately go to trying to discredit and flame them when the same people did nothing but love on all the other previous dynasties prior to your team's ascension, it does tend to chap one's ass quite a bit. I'm not going to go into my true feelings about the subject, but like I said, statements like that tick me off.
Lights Out
No kidding. It's OK for him to have two "favorite" NFL teams...as well as two "favorite" NBA teams and, like, four NHL teams he roots for. That's excessive.I'm with you on having other teams that you like to watch - there's quite a few teams that fall into that category for me - but people should just keep it to ONE favorite team year-round per sport. Then again watching some of those NBA Classics from the NBA on NBC does the same thing. Has it really been 10 years since they moved to Memphis... seems like half that long.EDIT: My bad, Infrared. I read McCarthy's post that mentioned the whole hoping on the Packers' bandwagon thing. I probably read it too fast and mistook it for yours. So sorry about that. I'm not going to go into my true feelings about the subject, but like I said, statements like that tick me off.You need to make up your mind chief. Either I'm a bandwagon jumper or I have two favorite teams. It can't be both. Anyway, I don't have two "favorite" teams. Anyone who knows me around here knows that I like the Packers. I just don't consider them my "favorite team." I am Browns fan first and foremost. I also enjoy watching the Packers, Jets, Dolphins, and Chiefs. The difference is I'll never join the "hey, we won a Super Bowl" talk when those teams win. Keeping it in the context of the conversation, I haven't "earned" the right to "claim" those teams as my own. This is going to be a -ed up analogy but I'll try it anyway. The Browns are like my own kid while the Packers are like a nephew or niece. I'd certainly be happy to see my nephew play in the majors but it would never equal the thrill of seeing my own kid do it. Does that make any sense?

FiddySicks
Or what? Or I'll mock your team for not winning anything of value since 1964! Like I'm not used to that already. The same can be said for all of the 18-1 jokes I hear all the time. I feel your pain. You can't seriously believe that's the same thing.I do believe that, because being a Patriots fan, that would be the single most painful memory I can recall while rooting for the team. Even more so than the 1990 NFL Season, when they finished 1-15 and there where rumors of the team moving to St. Louis. It's all relative though, as one painful memory for a fan of one team will obviously differ from one of another team.Come on, Gary... that's no fair to pick on the Lions. Despite their slight improvement last year, they're still the NFL's short-bus team.Your most "painful" memory is your team coming up short in their attempt to win their fourth Super Bowl of the decade? And that relates to being a Browns or Lions fan how exactly? Oh well, I'm sure seeing your "other favorite team" win the Super Bowl this year eased the "pain" of the Patriots losing to the Jets in the playoffs right? And people wonder why Boston fans catch so much flack around here. Anyway, back on topic...I got to see Brandon Roy play for the first time last night. (I just recently started following the NBA again) Looks like the kid can play.As I stated before it's all relative depending on the fan and the team that he/she roots for. Not really dude. It's similar to the stuck up girl who pulls over and moans to the girl at the bus stop about how daddy bought her the wrong color Mercedes On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Drakonius26
I don't really see your point there, as it's not even remotely like that. Apples and oranges. Sure the Patriots won a few times before, but what's wrong in wanting your team to achieve excellence and immortality with 4 titles and an undefeated season? It is indeed all relative, and quite honestly I'm sick of this loser and underdog-mentality Americans have (including some sports fans too)...Oh, they win too much... wahhh.Let the other teams have a chance... wahhh. They ran up the score too high... wahhh.Perhaps Americans and sports fans see themselves as losers/underdogs, therefore identifying themselves as automatically flawed/inferior. But personally while I do agree that the playing field should be level, what's wrong with expecting and rooting for your team to do something great and then being disappointed when they don't? There's nothing wrong with it, and there's nothing with stating that as a painful/disappointing moment for your team. All this for trying to sympathize with Infrared about the Browns' shortcomings...EDIT: Boston only up 81-77 on the Clippers in the 4th Quarter. Man, it looks like whatever good-will Danny Ainge worked up as an executive with the Celtics is slowly going all to Hell. Not to mention Gordon isn't even playing... please Clippers, keep their losing streak alive.

You don't feel the pain of the browns sucking with the Patriots losing out on a perfect season. One is hopelessness (is that a word?) and the other is dissapointment. Bucfan actually has a good analogy, you're the one comparing apples and oranges here.
