As far as the chances of the Clippers leaving LA, we'll see. Who knows what the impact will be on the Kings coming into Anaheim. I think that's going to be the driving factor in any decision made, and its not known right now what effect if any it will have on the Clippers. What I said with them is simply an uneducated so if people want to bash it, I'm not going to stop them. It's based on nothing.

The lease the Clippers have with the Staples Centre means they're going to be profitable regardless of a team in Anaheim or not. The Clippers, despite being pretty awful, are one of the league's more profitable teams because of this arrangement. They aren't going to move. People need to come to terms with that.

Ice_Cap, this is a random question, but I'm curious. I know you're a Raptors fan and I wanted to ask you how the fan base is up in Toronto. Is it moderate, above average, etc.? Do the Raptors turn a good profit as far as your knowledge goes?

Well they're owned by MLSE, so they're fairly stable financially speaking. As far as support goes, they draw a decent crowd. They draw in a lot of the crowd that wants to go to a sporting event but can't get tickets for the Leafs. Still, it puts butts in seats.

Oh, ok. It sounds like all they need really need is a post-season bound team and they could be well off.

Easier said then done for the Raps :(

True, they always seem to have a decent start, but collapse as the season progresses. Oh well, I still like the Raptors, regardless. I'm still on board with this Kings to Anaheim move.

It is not the lease which keeps the Clippers profitable; it is that Sterling bought the team 30 years ago for $13M, and he has no more debt to pay off, unlike the Kings (30% debt to value ratio) or even worse the Nets (200% debt to value ratio).

And the Kings are getting unceremoniously dismantled by LA in the most typical of Kings fashion. A friend just texted me from the game telling me that all merchandise is half off as well.

Come on Sacramento A's.

Sounds like they're preparing for the end in Sac-Town.

The more I think about it, it really is sad that the Kings are leaving Sacramento. They represented a big part of the recent history of the city, so for that aspect it'll be sad to have that void once it rolls around. But really, nobody in Sacramento will miss having them around when it's all said and done. They were an awful team for all but one tiny chunk of their existence, they play in a bad arena in an out of the way area, in a city that is a hard draw for pro sports as it is, especially basketball. And this is coming from someone who lives in an area where Sacramento is the closest pro sports market, and with the loss of the Kings my distance between me and pro sports will double. I've commuted the 200 miles each way on a regular basis to see the Giants, A's, Raiders, Niners, Sharks, and even Warriors play. But I never went to Kings games even when I lived in Sacramento unless someone dragged me there. They're just not fun experiences. The Kings never really got their talons in the Sacramento market despite the amount of time they were there and just kind of sat dead for the majority of time. For the most part they're filler for the news as far as most people in Sacramento have been concerned, and it's been that way for years. The way people are so broken up about the possible move is reactionary. Give it a year and most people will probably forget the Kings were ever there in the first place. It wont be like the Dodgers and Giants moving across the country where people are STILL upset about it, that's for sure.

Tied at 99 going into OT. At least the Kings are going out in style. Kings outscored LA 29-11 in the 4th. Boy the Lakers just don't give a crap and want the playoffs to start.

Nope. Tyreke made sure to play selfishly in the end costing them the game. Well that's a game, season, and likely the franchise.

When will this become official?

For all intents and purposes, Monday. That's when they file, and to date I think only one move has been blocked after they file. The Maloofs will get a feeling today on how the owners will vote, and if it's a good vibe they've said they would file by Monday. There's a bunch of formality and the formal vote after that, but if they file Monday, they have the votes and it's happening.

Jerry had a piece about 7 mins left in the 4th quarter too during a down period where he essentially said good bye after 26 years. I got the feeling watching last night that it was the last time I'd be watching the Kings. I hope I'm wrong, but it sure doesn't look good unless the owners block the move.

Brings a tear to my eye to see this. This really does show loyalty, specially the fans. It's sad to see something like this happen, but yeah unless something happens, I think this is it for Sacramento.
