Seems like it should start behind it and swoop around in front. As for the new Marlins logo, it just doesn't look like it should be used for a sports team. It looks like the logo for a fast-food joint. The logo alone will keep people from coming out to watch this team! Oh, and I think B is the better choice. The angular look to the M appeals to me.
