So with the 1-game playoff being played under protest, what happens if the call gets reveresed after its over?

4.19

PROTESTING GAMES.

Each league shall adopt rules governing procedure for protesting a game, when a manager claims that an umpire’s decision is in violation of these rules. No protest shall ever be permitted on judgment decisions by the umpire. In all protested games, the decision of the League President shall be final.

***Even if it is held that the protested decision violated the rules, no replay of the game will be ordered unless in the opinion of the League President the violation adversely affected the protesting team’s chances of winning the game.***

Rule 4.19 Comment: Whenever a manager protests a game because of alleged misapplication of the rules the protest will not be recognized unless the umpires are notified at the time the play under protest occurs and before the next pitch, play or attempted play. A protest arising on a game-ending play may be filed until 12 noon the following day with the league office.

So Atlanta is pretty much :censored: out of luck

Not necessarily. If it's ruled to be a misapplication of the rules (IT WAS), then the game can be replayed from that point. Braves were right in it then.

You're right but knowing how MLB operates I have feeling it won't come to that.

Given the highlighted section of the rule, the Cards getting out of the inning with no more damage done may have doomed any protest.

Huh? Being charged with an out you didn't make adversely affects your chances of winning.

Seriously, how many flukes are going to go the Cardinals' way in the postseason? 2006, last year, and now this bull :censored:.

Every fluke forever. They've been the pixie dust team as long as I can remember. Get used to it.

Wouldn't shock me at all if they luck their way to the title this year as well.

Magic finds that franchise. The 83-win 2006 team still is one of the biggest fluke-jobs in the history of American sports.

Popping champagne after winning a stupid wild card game? This has seriously gotten retarded.

I can't disagree with this. Especially when the score's technically not official.
