mmejia
This thread was inspired by the ABC logo treatment thread. It got me to thinking about Comcast. Comcast now has several regional sports networks and television contracts with a handful of NBA teams, Rockets, Warriors, Celtics, 76ers, and Bulls. There might be 1 or 2 more, but that's all I can come up with off the top of my head.Comcast does some pretty interesting 3D logo treatments for their intro to start the broadcast. The intro ends with an endpage that shows the treated logo on a basketball court. I snapped a few screenshots with my iPhone. I think the Rockets is the most interesting. Here they area:RocketsWarriorsBulls
GriffinM6
The Rockets one is awesome. The Warriors logo just doesn't work with this kind of treatment though. Too round.
Lee Noire
Almost like ESPN/ABC only less parade balloon like. These look like giant sculptures.
dmhtfld
My god, that Houston Rockets version is incredible. Even though it would probably look similar to the Warriors, I would like to see how the Cavaliers logo would look.
mmejia
Houston is the newest regional for Comcast, so their 3D logo is probably their most recently completed image.
TheOldRoman
The Rockets one is great, the Warriors is decent, and the Bulls one is bad (but 1000x better than what ESPN does to their logo). The bull shouldn't be shiny. Instead, maybe give him a hair texture to show depth.
devilray2k1
these are 50 times better than those terrible terrible ESPN 3D logos...I CRINGE everytime I see those monstrosities on my tv screen
BadSeed84
Just had the phillies game on and saw their rendering of the logo, really nice looking with the bell.So its not just for the nba teams.Guess that nbc branding means nice graphics as well (the logo has the peacock now)

BelfourThibault
I can't find a screen-grab, but I know that Rogers SportsNet does this for (at least) the Oilers and Flames as well in Canada. They look really cool. The Blackhawks one is, naturally, the sweetest of all.

Lee Noire
The Rockets logo is the only one that takes some liberties with its presentation while maintaining the actual design. It plays off of the name "rockets" by depicting an almost photo realistic rocket docked in a launching bay, that also happens to create the Rockets logo. Thats pretty darn cool. Kind of like a picture within a picture. Shame the others don't do that. That would actually make a cool concept thread...illustrating a team logo using a photo realistic image while staying in the structure of the actual logo(if that makes sense). Probably could only be done in 3D. I could totally see the Warriors logo as a 3D photo realistic bridge, Maybe with some tiny cars on it, and the basketball in the background looking like the sun. Maybe I just need sleep.

ksupilot
Never saw the Rockets logo as a rocket and launch gantry. Actually makes a lot more sense than the actual logo, where the rocket has flames, as does what in the 3d image is the launch pad.
29texan
This is why I could never understand the hate for the Rockets logo. There's thought behind it and Comcast brings it out here. I wish they did a little more with the Warriors (the bridge) and the Phillies (make the bell "pop" a little more than that). I like this concept. DC in Da House w/o a Doubt
The Rockets one looks awesome...The Wizards just use a 3D version of their dc hand logo... nothing special
Burkell007
My hate for the rockets logo is that is lacks color there alts NAIL it and they should find a way to get yellow in there and I'd not hate it- my gripe
Joshawaggie
I edited the topic title as well as the ESPN one to prevent spammers. I think having treatment in the title was triggering it. @josh_j12 CFA- Fargo Bobcats

I wish they did a little more with the Warriors (the bridge) and the Phillies (make the bell "pop" a little more than that). I like this concept.I'd actually argue that the Comcast version saw the idea of the logo better than the team. In the original logo the entire "R" was the rocket, here just one part is, while the other is the launching bay. That is just brilliant and like we have both mentioned before wished this artistic license was taken with other teams.
