New Disney's Hollywood Studios logo

I love this logo. It has a 90's feel, and if I didn't know better, I could think that this place has been around for a while. They also involved the trademark of Disney (Mickey Mouse) into it very well. Awesome work here!

Disney is ditching the MGM from their third Florida theme park and went with Disney's Hollywood Studios which sounds lame but better than Disney-Pixar Studios which was the choice up until the last minute.

personally, I like that one better.

If all of the Pixar themed attractions were confined to the one park I could see using Pixar in the name, but each of the four parks has some Pixar attractions.

A Pixar-themed park would be awesome, but it seems they are ditching a lot of older attractions and changing them to fit their more modern films. I can't believe they changed Alien Encounter to a Stitch encounter. The original scared the crap out of me.

Wow I'm happy to see positive comments here about the logo. On some (Disney) boards I've seen it berated. You guys are the ones in the know when it comes to good graphics, so I'll happily take you're opinions. :)

I like it myself, its got the the right amount of "Hollywood-that-never-was" class.

Talk is of seasonal names next year.. "Disney's Horrorwood Studios" and "Disney's Hollyday Studios" for their respective holidays.

If they havent already (I havent been to Disneyland in almost 20 years) I would love to see the Autopia changed over to the Pixar "Cars" theme.....as long as Chick Hicks is one of the driveable characters :D

and I admit, although I am not much of a Disney fan I am very much a fan of Pixar Animation Studios (based in Emeryville, CA just across the bay from downtown SF)

Yeah the name change will take effect at the start of 08.

I thought 'Walt Disney Studios' was the planned name change.

I believe it was one of the contenders. There's already a 'Walt Disney Studios Park' in Paris (which did have the city under the marquee during construction but was then removed before opening) so they could've gone with 'Walt Disney Studios' Florida.

Well it probably won't happen to Autopia as "Carsland" (working title) is expected to open at Disney's California Adventure by 2012 with "Radiator Springs Racers" (based on EPCOT's Test Track) plus a Luigi's flying saucer type ride and a Mater and the Tractors tea-cup affair.

You think that they will get permission to display the Ferarri logo everywhere for that Luigi themed ride?

nonetheless, none of them can rock the pornstar grill the way Chick does

I would imagine it'll be 'regular' Luigi rather than 'Ferrari Fan Luigi'

Theres already a Luigi on display in Paris (complete with FIAT badge) so they've got the licensing sewn up.

MGM was dissolved about 3 years ago, and just came back indepedantly in early 2007. I think that's why Disney did this.

Not really, Disney's contract to use the MGM name run's out at the end of the year, they would have ditched the name a few years ago but all the stuff with Eisner was going down so they extended the contract to the end of 07 so they could sort things out.

That, plus MGM's involvement with Disney itself has been virtually nil for the last 10-12 years anyway (save for the usage of various images for the Movie Ride). Disney's been paying MGM for use of the name simply because they were never able to decide on a replacement name until now.

In fact, I'll bet dollars to donuts that the new logo has been around since the 90's, and that it's just taken this long for Disney to make the decision to flip the switch.

not bad. i'd like to see how they handle the change at the park entrance and throughout. signage and whatnot.

The cahange will happen over the cousre of a week.

For a while we were paying MGM for the name, then last 3-5 years they were paying us from the rumours I was hearing here. The Hollywood studios is recent, as to tribute to Walt Disney's arrivakl to California when he left Kansas.

The original name change that was supposed to happen around the 1999-2000 time period was The Walt Disney Studios
