This article references a 1978 game with an attendance of 4,522. http://www.negativedunks.com/2012/02/least-attended-nba-game-ever.html The Clippers averaged under 10,000 as recently as 1998. http://www.apbr.org/attendance.html For the record, I'm not arguing with you. Your post just made me curious. I just kinda guessed at that, so obviously I was mistaken. Maybe a better way to put it would be "lowest max-capacity arena to host a regular-season game in modern era"? I honestly don't even know if that was true. Again, just poor assumptions. In the 80's, the Mavericks and Sonics played playoff games at college arenas in BOTH cities! In '84, the Mavs hosted the Sonics at SMU's Moody Coliseum (att. 9007) Then in '87, the Sonics played the Mavs at UW's Hec Edmunson Pavilion (att. 8150). Old Moody was too steep in the upper rows to be considered "great".
Pauly
You know that would be a pretty cool thing if each NBA team played an opponent one game in a small arena/gym.Low seating capacity, money from tickets sold goes to charity,So the Bulls could play say Milwaukee at DePaul university's Sullivan center, capacity 3,000 and on it would go. Cosmic
Weird/small venues are what pre-season games are for. Teams aren't going to piss away $1M to play a "real" game in a tiny arena.

But they should just to a)tax write-oo,goodwill,and b,open their arena for 1 extra date in the year.(helps if you own the arena)

This idea that it would be a charity event is strange... you're throwing away 10,000ish tickets that could potentially be sold, along with concession/parking revenue. Also, 10,000 extra people in the stands that could donate on "Red Cross Night" or whatever. If you want to donate money to charity, it's probably best to play a game at your regular arena. The only way it would make any sense is if a team had a very unfavorable lease situation at their regular building, or there were some physical problem with the buidling (like a roof collapse). DTConcepts
Not sure if it's been posted or not, but here's one I love. Denver Coliseum (10,200) The arena was built in 1951, and still has mostly wooden seats. My family and I always went to see the Denver Cutthroats there, and it was always a ton of fun. The arena was never full, but always had a ton of fans in the seats. Also, the video board in the first picture is outdated. "You ain't gonna learn what you don't wanna know..." Sport
I saw my first ever hockey game here at the Ohio expo center. Columbus Chill versus Huntington Blizzard. It used to get rowdy for Chill games.

This is wild. I've been there! When I was a kindergartner my family spent a year in Harrisburg and my dad took me a Harrisburg Heat game.
leopard88
I've never been there, but I've seen it TV a few times. If memory serves me, during the first incarnation of the Harrisburg Heat, the arena had clear boards all the way to the ground. It was kind of weird to watch games like that.
