  1. BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, UCF to Big 12 will become official for next year. Looking at 14 schools for two seasons until Oklahoma and Texas depart for SEC https://www.si.com/college/2022/04/27/big-12-conference-ucf-houston-cincinnati-texas-oklahoma-changes
  2. (channels inner Morgan Freeman voice) But it was too late. The damage had already been done.
  3. The Reds are reversing course . After a weekend of games that saw several fans be threatened with ejection for wearing paper bags, Sell the team Bob signs, the team says it was a mistake on their part and will now allow fans to wear bags and bring signs expressing their displeasure with the team/ownership. Phil Castellini apparently has also apologized to team employees via a letter for his remarks made on opening day.
  4. The Reds snapped their 11 game losing skid. Also coming to an end was a 99 inning streak without leading after an inning. On Friday, a local news crew was interview fans in their seats with bags over their heads. An usher interrupted that interview telling the fans to take off the bags. That made its rounds on social media pissing off fans. Yesterday, a fan in the diamond seats (behind home plate) was threatened with ejection if he didnt remove his bag. That video made its rounds on social media pissing off fans even more. I havent heard of any bag trouble today but I did see that supposedly ushers have now been told not to tell fans to remove their bags.
  5. Bingo! The Reds are just MLBs minor league system
  6. Since Phil Castellini asked fans " where you gonna go?" and “sell the team to who?” on Opening Day, the Reds have lost 10 straight games by a combined score of 63-20, they’ve had a lead for 18 pitches, and the team owns the worst record in baseball at 2-12. Prior to last nights game former Red Nick Castellanos (now with the Phillies) told Chris Rose that the Reds didnt even call him. He said he feels sorry for the fans. The Reds meanwhile desperate to keep fans announced a couple of Bengals to throw the first pitch, and Hunter Greene (making his home debut) begged fans on social media to come to the game, only to receive replys of "sorry. we support you but we cant support Bob and Phil." and "You'll see a sea of red, its just gonna be empty seats." Last night was only the third home game of the season. Attendance was listed as 20,470 but that was likely paid attendance as the ballpark was actually about half of that. Fans wearing bags over their heads were told by stadium officials that they had to remove the bags.
  7. There are plenty of viable markets. The real issue is who is paying for the stadium to be built. Lots of places dont want tax payer money to be spent on stadiums, while billionaires dont want to privately fund the building of a stadium. Because of that we are at an impass and nothing gets done. Its why Oakland and Tampa Bay dont have new stadiums in their markets and Vegas and Montreal dont have the A's and Rays.
  8. Round of 32 for US Open Cup is now set and we are guaranteed at least 3 lower level teams to make it to the round of 16 Seattle vs San Jose Sacramento vs Phoenix Cal United vs LA Galaxy LAFC vs Portland Minnesota vs Colorado Omaha vs Northern Colorado Kansas City vs Dallas Houston vs San Antonio Miami vs South Georgia Orlando vs Philadelphia Nashville vs Atlanta Richmond vs Charlotte Detroit vs Louisville New England vs Cincinnati DC vs NY Red Bulls NYCFC vs Rochester
  9. Several good cupsets this year. Heading into the Round of 32 we still have at least 9 lower level clubs still in it.
  10. Update: Its now 9 straight losses and 59-18, by a combined score of 59-18. Hard to tell if they really are that bad or if they are tanking. Either way the Reds are off on Thursday and return home Friday with the Cardinals. It will be interesting to see if the Reds can outdo Oaklands laughable crowd of 3,748
  11. Since Phil Castellini (Reds President, COO, and son of owner Bob Castellini) opened his mouth and told fans " Where you gonna go? Sell the team to who? and to cheer the team and have faith", the Reds have now lost 7 straight games by a combined score of 47-16, have had a lead for just 9 pitches, and have the worst record in baseball.
  12. Yes. Both Protective Stadium and Legion Field are unavailable due to previously scheduled 2022 World Games being held in Birmingham.
  13. Yes the Championship is in Canton.
  14. Boston again? God forbid they go someplace new like Columbus, or Seattle
  15. The Reds front office continue to alienate their fans and continue not to take the blame themselves. On the day of the Reds home opener Phil Castellini (Reds COO and son of owner Bob Castellini) talked about the fans frustrations with the team for trading away fan favorites, dumping payroll for minor league prospects, years of promises not kept, years of dismal seasons, not winning any postseason series and more. Fans have been calling for Bob to sell the team. This is what Phil said today to piss the fans off even more. "You had my faith but you lost it, why should that fan maintain trust in them? Where you gonna go? Sell the team to who? You wanna have this debate? If you wanna look at what would you do with this team to have it more profitable, make more money, compete more in the current economic system that this game exists. It would be to pick it up and move it somewhere else. Be careful what you ask for." His response to that radio clip is just as bad The lies that this family tells. The fans are still gonna cheer for the Reds. The fans are still gonna be loyal to the players. What the fans are done with are the inept ownership for failure to maintain promises, lying to the fanbase, and refusing to take the blame for their own actions. Heres the other thing. The Reds have a big ownership group of multiple people and companies. Bob Castellini is not the majority owner but he is the principal owner and he even isnt the richest owner of the current Reds ownership group. Bob is also 30th in the league when it comes to owners net worths. LAST IN THE LEAGUE. His produce company recently cut 150 jobs to restructure. He spends thousands of dollars donating to political causes, yet cant afford to keep fan favorites or bring in big names. He just cant afford to run the team. Fans have lost interest in baseball and new fans are hard to come by these days. The amount of season ticket holders has nose dived in Cincinnati (several jumped ship for FC Cincinnati and the Bengals). The only time they can get decent attendance is for Opening Day, a bobblehead giveaway or anything Big Red Machine and Pete Rose. If he wants to keep the fans who have remained he needs to sell the team. Sadly, he wont sell and when he croaks will likely pass the team down to Phil to dig the teams grave even further.
  16. Baskin Robbins has changed its look. Ditching the blue and pink for a return to the original brown and pink colors. While I like the idea the 1 on the R seems too forced. I think it would have been better without the serif.
  17. Didnt see that one coming. Guess its time to guess who will replace them in the WAC as the WAC will need a new football member. Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, and Jacksonville State are supposed to be in the ASUN for that conference first FCS season in 2022. For 2022 it leaves Abilene Christian, Dixie State, Lamar (leaving after 2022), Sam Houston State (leaving after 2022), Stephen F Austin, Tarleton State, and Southern Utah (joining in 2022). For 2023 it leaves 5 schools. UTRGV could start their football program early but other wise arent scheduled until 2024.
  18. The fruit didnt fall far from his fathers fruit tree
  19. Something unusual here in Cincinnati. There are still tickets available for opening day. Usually Opening Day sells out quickly. It is a bit different this year. For only the third time since joining the National League in 1890, the Reds are starting on the road. (It used to be tradition that the Reds would be the first game to start the baseball season at home, but now thanks to television packages they just start at home.) The only other times the Reds started on the road was in 1966, when all three home games vs the Mets were rained out and they started in Philadelphia. The other time was 1990 when a lock out delayed the season start and the Reds started in Houston. The Reds front office is blaming the change of start of opening day due to the lock out for not having the home opener sold out. The real reason is fans have had enough of the ownership and the ownership is unwilling to take any blame
  20. The Mississippi Sea Wolves are back. Joining the FPHL next season.
  21. The Reds want you to think they bring in good players and do well in free agency. In reality this is what the team does. It relies heavily on promotions and nostalgia. (Usually bobbleheads, fireworks night or postgame concert or anything to do with the Big Red Machine or Pete Rose. Otherwise its out of town fans (Pittsburgh, Cubs, St Louis) they look to filling the seats.
