  1. The XFL and its revival combined for less than two seasons of football. I'm willing to say it could have worked the second time around, but y'know, global pandemic and all that. So maybe not their fault, who knows how that would have worked out. The NASL though? That league died years ago, before the pandemic, having achieved the heights of being roughly as relevant as the USL. Is that a revival done right? More importantly, does the USFL brand have enough cachet to really matter at this point? The league was birthed and killed before I was born and I'm in my 30's. I know about the USFL because I'm a nerd that's read all about it and heard stories from my dad of his time going to Showboats games. I even took all of his USFL pennants and hung them up in my room when I was younger. But is it a name that football fans my age and younger actually care about?
  2. The difference is that the Raiders moved the other times because of stadium issues. They were dissatisfied with the situation in Oakland, then the situation in Los Angeles, and then again in Oakland. In Las Vegas they've finally gotten their fancy new stadium. If they had moved there with the promise of a new stadium while stalling at Sam Boyd Stadium, then they would be a threat to move again.
  3. I go back and forth on my preference between white or gold pants for Washington's burgundy jerseys. I think it's just based on which one I haven't seen as recently. I don't know.
  4. The day there's an internet redesign that doesn't cause people to throw fits is the day we've all died in a nuclear holocaust.
  5. Crap, forgot to do my bit. Move the A's to Little Rock! Or Memphis. Whichever. Alternatively make them a traveling team that goes to all of the cool minor league parks, one of which might be near me. More importantly, how can I believe this is anything when the A's have been threatening to move forever? I guess at some point it's probably real sort of like all of the doomsday predictions are going to be closer to real than the last one.
  6. I see no downside. It’s not like the baggo championship is taking airtime away from anything more important. Why do we have a million channels if not for this very reason?
  7. If we can have bowling, darts, poker, men's slow pitch softball, and baggo on TV then why not have pickleball?
  8. Well this is silly. Keep in mind he means Jacksonville State here (the one in Alabama), and not regular Jacksonville who recently dropped football. As I understand it (and I don't totally), this allows the WAC to have an AQ spot for the FCS tournament, and also allows the three future ASUN/UAC teams to have an auto-bid for the season. So I guess we'll be waiting a bit on that sixth ASUN football member.
  9. Reckless speculation? Maybe grab some of the Louisiana remnants in the Southland since all of the good Texas schools left for the WAC. Though it always seems that Louisiana universities are on the verge of a financial collapse, so maybe that's why the good Texas schools and UCA jumped ship.
  10. According to the leaked EKU FAQ, the ASUN lineup seems to be: University of Central Arkansas Eastern Kentucky University Jacksonville State University Kennesaw State University University of North Alabama Liberty will stay FBS and Stetson will remain in the Pioneer. According to the EKU post, they're planning on adding another member to get to six football schools. https://www.maroon-nation.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/asun_faq.png
  11. Nobody from the Mountain West has a chance at the Pac-12 unless something apocalyptic happens.
  12. It doesn’t. A quick glance at the Southland defectors’ budgets and facilities shows that they have no shot at going FBS. They reached out to New Mexico State to play football with them and NMSU said they had no intention of going FCS. Same goes for the pipe dream of bizarro A-Sun going FBS in the future. I suspect neither they nor the WAC have any real designs on FBS, it’s just a thing for internet people to yammer on about.
  13. I remember one of the articles talking about their freshman enrollment being like 80-something several years back. Central Arkansas is officially joining the Atlantic Sun, so I guess they're doing that weird plan where they expand to 20 or so and then split in half.
  14. I don't understand how Chicago State is still D1 when every article I ever see about them is how the school is on the verge of shutting down entirely.
  15. I don't like Coastal's field. I just like it better than the other non-standard colored fields.
  16. I would argue that Arizona State's jerseys ruin this. Sure, Arizona State looks good in a vacuum, but they're the road team and should be wearing white. Maroon vs. navy doesn't have the necessary contrast to work in the same way that UCLA-USC can. But yeah, Arizona's jerseys suck.
  17. Surprised they didn't go all-white since so many teams still think all-black vs. all-white is a really cool and interesting look.
  18. It's not the Mountain West's pride that keeps NMSU out. It's the money. NMSU isn't going to increase revenue in the Mountain West enough to offset being a 13th mouth the feed. They just don't move the needle. Since 1960 they've been to one bowl game, and they were 6-6 going into that. There is no demand from conferences to add NMSU. C-USA schools are already annoyed with having to go to El Paso, so why would they want to add another trip even further out? C-USA is already in a rough spot having to share revenue between 14 schools. A 15th school even further out isn't going to help things. NMSU is basically just holding out hope that there's another big conference calamity and somebody will be desperate enough to take them. I just don't know where that shakeup comes from. C-USA isn't in a position to poach the Sun Belt like they used to, and the Sun Belt has no reason to poach C-USA or take NMSU. The American has no reason to expand at this point, and who from the American or Mountain West are going to be absorbed into the P5? The Big XII put on a big show of acting like they were going to expand a while back, only to reward themselves (and the Sun Belt) by getting the NCAA to make 10-team conference championship games a reality. Idaho and New Mexico State only had homes in the Sun Belt because it was going to help the SBC get to 12 teams for football for a title game until Western Kentucky jumped to C-USA, a move that everybody saw coming except for the commissioner apparently. When that incentive no longer existed, the Sun Belt no longer had a need for NMSU and Idaho.
  19. I mean, they did it. Doesn't mean it worked. I asked a girl out and she said she wasn't interested. Sure, I did it, but it doesn't mean it worked. Color vs. Color works when the colors are distinct from each other. Your red vs. blue and such. Red, orange, and gold/yellow should never be paired against each other.
  20. Yellow vs. orange sounds like a nightmare.
  21. They’re 1-7 with the 1 being against the Citadel. It’s better they do this while nobody is watching.
  22. They had little to no choice, so there is that. I'm of two minds when it comes to athletic gold vs. old gold. Both can be great, but athletic gold can work with white in a way that old gold can not.
  23. Michigan State's block S was always one of my least favorite logos.
