Be quick if you're not going to the game. I think only 50 of each product were being sold online.

2022-23 International Club Soccer Kits
officeglenn replied to officeglenn's topic in Sports Logo News
Long-rumored, oft-leaked Liverpool FC home kits for 22-23 officially unveiled today: -
The 'Hand of God' shirt auction closed at 11:01 a.m. ET today: Beats out an original handwritten Olympic manifesto that sold for $8.8 million US in December 2019 and a Babe Ruth Yankees jersey from the late 1920s that sold for $5.64 million US in June 2019. Here's my writeup for the mothership, where I'm adding more details as I find them.

Yeah, I saw this earlier today. I feel like there had to have been more elegant ways to work the 3 into the B. It's like they started with the B on the left half, but then started with the 1 on the right half. Either start with both the B and the R or with both the 3 and the 1, not mixed up like this.

I guess this is as good a place as any for this ... Sotheby's is going to auction off the shirt in which Diego Maradona scored the "Hand of God" goal and the "Goal of the Century" later this month. It's expected to fetch at least £4 million ($5.22 million US), and could break the record for the most expensive piece of sports memorabilia ever. That currently belongs to a New York Yankees jersey worn by Babe Ruth somewhere between 1928 and 1930, which sold at auction for $5.64 million US in June 2019. More details and history at the mothership.

You sure about this? There was a lot of talk in Canada about we needed to beat Panama tonight to get into Pot 3, and that didn't happen. The current pots according to SI.com have Tunisia in Pot 3 and Canada in Pot 4.

It's that time of the year again — when credible leaks of next season's kits from the big soccer leagues in Europe start to emerge. Let's kick things off with Arsenal, shall we? Some credible-looking photos of their 2022-23 kits have emerged online recently: The home kit harkens back to 1995-96, while the away kit has an all-over tonal pattern of "AFC" in 3D letters. The third is light pink with what appears to be navy blue trim, and a pattern of pips from the "Victoria Concordia Crescit" crests used from 1949 to 2002. More details at the mothership.

This hurts my eyes every time I look at it. I think it's because of the thick white inline. If it was thinner or gone completely, I think it would be better. I find the version they went with easier to look at on a red or black background, but on white, it's just so jarring. And would it have killed them to fill in the circle that represents the clock on the Peace Tower in gold, and/or the spire above it black? Those are very fine details that could be hard to reproduce at a small scale.

Edmonton radio hosts sound pretty sure the Oilers are going back to royal blue jerseys at home next season, with navy blues sticking around as alternates (starts around 2:25) ...

2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs new logo unveiled
officeglenn replied to Mr. Krabs's topic in Sports Logo News
The N in "STANLEY" is the first thing my eye is drawn to, and it's jarring because it looks SO out of place. -
They actually did for the 2021 Labour Day rematch and another game against Saskatchewan:

I think this about all they could have done to the helmet antlers and still have it look congruous with the rest of their visual identity. I mean, they lifted the helmet antlers right from the primary logo ... ... and so they kind of painted themselves into a corner. Going back and reworking them, making them more elaborate, to go on the helmet would look really out of place and throw the whole package out of whack. Or at least it would for me.

They said at the time the rebrand was announced that any new name would have to start with an E so that they could continue to use the EE logo. If they had landed on anything but "Elks," this probably would have been the design since day one. But, like I said above, "Elks" presented an opportunity that was too good to not try, even if it didn't quite work out as well in reality as it did on paper. They always planned to keep an EE logo around in some form no matter the name, so while I understand the thought it's pandering to those who don't like the change (I honestly had the same thought initially), I don't think it truly is.
