  1. As I was looking at the first one, I thought to myself, "This could use one of the other shades of blue as well." Then I scrolled down and my wishes were instantly granted. These are both a tad jarring because the Kraken don't use more white than absolutely necessary in their branding, and both of these feel very white-forward. But I'm not against it. The dark blue stripes on the arms could be so the numbers don't come right to the edges of them. But yeah, all in all, a solid concept that bends the rules of the Kraken's branding but doesn't break them.
  2. Oh yeah, AS Roma did a similar thing on their third kits this year. But it was only on the replica retail versions, and not on the match-worn authentics.
  3. Merging this with the Arena Football thread in Sports in General. If the league releases a logo (which, from what I can see, they have not) or any teams release new logos, then you can start a thread in Sports Logos News. But if all we have now is talk about gameplay and organization, let's keep that to SiG.
  4. New Adidas kits for Costa Rica officially unveiled -- notably using an older template than the one worn by countries outfitted by Adidas at the 2022 World Cup:
  5. New senyera 4th kits for Barcelona: 1. FC Koln 75th anniversary kit: SSC Napoli Valentine's Day kit: And special Lunar New Year names and numbers on Inter Milan's home kit:
  6. This seems like the best place for this at the moment ... the match ball for the Women's World Cup later this year has been unveiled:
  7. PSG breaking out a new fourth kit in a friendly against a Saudi Arabian all-star side today:
  8. Here's the best pic I could find of this: It's hard to make out the green against the blue shirt, but you can see it in this one closer to the collar.
  9. FC Dallas will have new jersey sponsors in 2023. Children's Health on the primary kit, UT Southwestern Medical Center on the secondary. Announcement also mentioned the new secondary kit would be unveiled Feb. 16 at their annual Cocktails and Cleats kickoff event.
  10. It's the same as last year's No More Red kits, but yes, different from the font they used for the League Cup and Europa League this season. Here's a shot from last year:
  11. Some changes between the kits in the announcement photos and what Arsenal is actually wearing today. Adidas logo and crest are solid black, while sponsor logos are outlined in black. Numbers are white with a black outline and grey drop shadow; no names on the backs.
  12. Arsenal bringing back the "No More Red" kits for their FA Cup match against Oxford United on Monday:
  13. It's officially official: New crest for Italian national teams. https://news.sportslogos.net/2023/01/02/new-year-new-crest-for-italian-national-football-teams/soccer/
  14. They're wearing the UNHCR logo until the end of the season. https://news.sportslogos.net/2022/12/22/nottingham-forest-to-sport-unhcr-logo-on-shirts-for-remainder-of-2022-23-season/soccer/
  15. Nottingham Forest will wear the logo of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees on the front of their shirts for the remainder of the 2022-23 season:
  16. In that last case, it was because the URL wasn't secure — it started with http:// instead of https:// Though I'm not sure why you were posting Spanish kits from 2011 with no context. I'm assuming a comparison of champions badge/star placement?
  17. Last time they had a black away kit was in 2014, and the last time they had a navy away kit was 2010. https://www.footballkitarchive.com/spain-kits/
  18. As noted, the Flames broke out the Blasty thirds last night against Florida. Also worth noting that they have black pants shells with striping that matches the pedestal Reverse Retros. Smart move to have one shell that works with both alternates.
  19. In the UK in 2018, there were still 6,000 black-and-white sets in use. I'd imagine that number is higher in developing nations, and being a global organization, FIFA does need to take that into account somewhat. I wrote a story for the mothership earlier this year when an interview was published on YouTube with the designer of Nike's 2002 World Cup kits, and he specifically mentioned black-and-white TV being a consideration then. But the way he phrased it, it sounded like it's still something that's kept in mind today.
  20. I like the versions on the black background, but on the white background, having the black outline on the trophy and not on the lettering looks off to me. It feels like, with the bevelling and gradients and silver colouring, the letters are meant to mirror the trophy, but without the black outline, it feels incomplete. The trophy is rendered very well, and the rest of the elements look great. This is something I could see being used for many years to come.

  22. So many good things to take away for Canada ... except the final score. At one point, a stat popped up on screen saying attempts on goal were 21-7 in favour of Canada, which kind of blew me away. Lots of good defending — except the 44th minute — really timely tackles and fights for 50-50 balls. It looks like Canada wasn't intimidated at all, which is a great sign. Hopefully we can take this same effort forward to the games against Morocco and Croatia.
  23. Gotta say, that was an encouraging first half for Canada against Belgium. We were on the front foot for most of it, just switched off for a minute near halftime and paid for it. Davies needed more power on his penalty, for sure, but hopefully he won't be daunted to step up and take the next one.
