  1. Of course my mind goes over what all 6 of those cities would be. The only 2 Canadian cities without a team that I would think are viable are Montreal or Vancouver. In the States, we know that Nashville and Portland have been mentioned, so there’s 4 total. What could possibly be the other two?
  2. Agreed. As the news that the Athletics were open to exploring relocation emerged in May, and with the links to the articles above pitching Salt Lake for swirling around in my mind, I thought that sending the Athletics to Salt Lake and splitting them and the Jazz in Utah from the Knights and Raiders in Las Vegas while cross-promoting all 4 between both cities would be more feasible than giving a 3rd—and possibly 4th—team in a market that has just 2.5 million residents (which, IIRC, is roughly the same population along the Wasatch Front, if you count Provo and Ogden—correct me if I’m wrong.) Again, I know the businessmen making the decisions probably aren’t going to go with that, but it’s a fun little thought experiment to see if two relatively close cities could pull off. Yes, Las Vegas is a tourist town, and that works for the first team there (the Knights) and the Raiders (who are an NFL team, really aren’t too far from their historical fanbases anyways, and are the Raiders), but I just don’t see it translating to all 4 big leagues.
  3. If they're trying to escape the (worst of) the heat, the Athletics could always temporarily set up shop in Salt Lake with this backdrop while waiting for a new ballpark in Las Vegas to be built: I know that some local sports radio talking heads (among them former Lions great Scott Mitchell ) that made a pitch for the Raiders to temporarily set up shop in Utah last year (as silly as the concept of the "Utah Raiders" sounds) did something similar with the A's once they announced their intention to explore relocation back in May. Oh well, a man can dream. It's ultimately little more than an article to spur talk, given the logistics of pulling that off (chief among them is where the AAA Bees go), but it's always fun to think about. It's just crazy to me how quickly Las Vegas is going from 0 to possibly 3 teams in under a decade, previous gambling issues or not. Anyways, the temporary Las Vegas Ballpark setup talk does spur another question if the A's do move to Vegas: What happens to the what, 2-, 3-year-old ballpark when an even newer big league park opens (as it inevitably will)? What happens to the AAA Aviators if the Athletics come to town--where do they go? Could there be the possibility of doing some kind of switcheroo, with the MLB team going to Las Vegas and the AAA team going to Oakland?
  4. That works for the NFL, given the low number of games in a season, that most Raiders fans still hail from nearby California, and that, except for the first month or so of the season, the NFL season plays during the cooler months. The Golden Knights, being the first team in town, have also carved out their spot on the market and have at least 41 home games to fill during the coolest time of the year. I’m not sure that MLB, with at least 81 home games during the heat of the summer, would be the ideal Vegas getaway for baseball fans.
  5. I really hope not, because if any of these reports about the Canucks moving their team to Abbotsford/thereabouts/Boise, Salt Lake would likely be SOL for an ECHL/AHL team for the foreseeable future.
  6. I’m kind of surprised that using 0 and 00 aren’t being brought up, though I feel as though it’s only a matter of time before players can wear 0 and/or 00. My guess is that if/when wearing 0/00 is permitted, 0 gets use from the general K/P/QB crowd and 00 getting use from the OL/DL/LB/TE group. Also, is it me, or have any NFL TEs worn anything in the 90-99 range, or is that more of a college thing, if anything at all?
  7. Slightly off topic, but It still astounds me that the Charlotte/Carolina affiliation did not work out, given the proximity between the two clubs.
  8. I thought of that too—I’m OK with the Knights going with a Notre Dame effect or a more traditional gold finish. Just match it as best as you can with the shiny material on the jersey. And since I’m on the subject: I wished a handful more NHL/AHL/ECHL/Upper level college/junior/etc. hockey teams would apply football aesthetics to their helmets. Think along the lines of the University of Michigan’s helmets. It can’t be any worse than helmet ads, right?
  9. I'd honestly like to see them paired with the Reverse Retro jerseys. My biggest thing is the chrome effect--make those more of a traditional metallic flake sheen such as on a football helmet (to match the gold on their jerseys) and they're really onto something.
  10. I don't know if it quite fits here, but the Winnipeg Jets' (v2.0) overall identity has really grown on me. The logo seemed underwhelming when it first came out, but it, along with the home, road, and alternate sets, by and large was designed (intentional or not) with a certain level of staying power, which is especially ironic given how quickly everything was apparently put together.
  11. I know this topic (0, 00, and triple digit numbers) has come up more than few times, but it’s one I always seem to enjoy. I haven’t had the time to listen to the podcast yet, but I’ll continue to say it: the NFL and NHL really need to allow the use of 0 and 00; everyone else—NCAA Football now included—allows it. I can’t think of better-fitting numbers for a hockey goalie to wear. In the NFL, 0 can be for players in the 1-19 position group while 00 can be for any player in the 90-99 position group to wear. At least that’s what I’m thinking.
  12. Something very similar happened to Wichita—they built a AAA stadium and look to end up with a AA team.
  13. The search function has always kinda been lacking. I’d go to type in a given topic, but far less relevant results always seem to pop up first; I wouldn’t get to what I was looking for until at least the second or third pages. Anyways, can we cut down on the border ads in the mobile version? I. Get. One. Every. Single. Time. I. Change. A. Page.
  14. Between this and Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox (and subsequent rebrand to 20th Century Studios), who had the Fox name being completely wiped out from virtually all media? Not me.
  15. A great update overall; it’s one of the rare times Brandiose has got a redesign by and large right by showing restraint.
  16. Great idea, but are we sure that New Era would allow that, given the outsourcing to China they've done in early 2019, the attitude of said bear in China's government, and how many large companies dealing with China try to not provoke the ire of the government there? (Not trying to be facetious, but something at least worth asking IMO.)
  17. Calgary Flames at it again? Apparently the Stockton Heat could be moving to Colorado Springs soon.
  18. For what it’s worth, the Palm Spring arena groundbreaking set for tomorrow (18 Feb.) has been delayed due to “extenuating circumstances.” It probably means little, if anything, but IMO worth mentioning here.
  19. I’ve long thought that a Green/Orange color scheme fits a team named the Dragons almost perfectly. Swap out the Navy for green at home (and maybe use White or orange pants at home), and Seattle would be set.
  20. I always thought that that Black/Creamsicle/Red would be a good color scheme, maybe for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers if they wanted to go in a different direction.
  21. I’m quite surprised at the team to be moving would be San Antonio. Haven’t the Stockton Heat (well, their owners in the Calgary Flames) been silent on re-upping in Stockton?
  22. That’s a bummer for San Antonio. I was really thinking that Stockton was going to be the team to move, given their apparent arena issues.
