  1. I LOVE the idea of porting the Note logo to some variation of the Mountain colors (Purple, Black, and either Light Blue or Copper), but I have a feeling that we’ll have to wait 2-5 years to finally get it.
  2. Give it about 2, 3, 4, 5 years (or however long an NBA team can rebrand).
  3. As I’ve asked before: How long does Jazz brass have to wait to rebrand again?
  4. Now the next question is: How soon is an NBA team able to rebrand themselves?
  5. Agreed. I’d rather see the Oilers in orange than that incomplete-looking, navy alternate they have going on. At least the pre-Edge navy/copper/red look had enough white that gave it some pop. (Of course, unpopular opinion time, I wouldn’t mind Edmonton sticking to orange primaries, even though indications are that they aren’t.)
  6. I think Colorado now ultimately looks better with a more coherent color scheme (maybe use burgundy shells), but in hindsight the black did not look bad. It’s not unlike the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ pewter, being the primary equipment color but virtually nonexistent on the actual jersey. Given that the Avalanche have added navy, I’ve long felt that swapping out black for navy equipment could also have had the same effect.
  7. The Firebirds themselves aren't going anywhere anytime soon, but I could see a scenario a few years down the line where they and Bakersfield swap affiliates (CV-->EDM, BAK-->SEA) and the Kraken shift the Condors to Boise. Of course, that would also require the Oilers to not move the Condors somewhere near Edmonton in said time (which I think they probably will).
  8. They couldn’t even wait for the Heat’s playoff run to end, could they? I’m bummed for Stockton being among the latest scorched-earth (pardon the pun) market hit by Flames management. I’m also bummed that a larger, closer ECHL city like Salt Lake or Boise got passed over for AHL hockey (again), but the silver lining here is that neither of those cities will be Calgary’s next victim.
  9. I feel Boise and Salt Lake are both possibilities south of the border; I do know that there is a direct connection between Salt Lake and Calgary. (Not sure about Boise, though.)
  10. Yea, I mentioned Charlotte because of their falling out with the Hurricanes, that Checkers’ ownership is rumored to be looking to sell, and that (according to HFBoards—take that with a huge grain of salt) the ownership of the Atlanta Gladiators ECHL team is looking to move up to the AHL. I wouldn’t consider myself a “hockey only belongs in cold-weather city” purist, and not trying to make that claim—just stating what I’ve heard from others.
  11. I’d personally love to see the Flames send their AHL affiliate go to either Salt Lake or Boise (with another team—maybe Bakersfield or Charlotte—going to the other city), but I guess that kind of move makes too much sense these days.
  12. Agreed. It’s definitely a topic for another thread, but if Utah were to somehow land an MLB team, I could get behind a Black/Yellow (maybe with some Light Blue or Teal) team, but it just doesn’t work for the Jazz.
  13. Not sure if this is the best thread to put this (maybe a player-number-specific thread), but since it’s hockey-related, and I’ve seen plenty in the NHL, but I’m loving that goalies are wearing (generally) higher multiples of 10 more and more. It feels so right. I’m posting this at an ECHL game (Rapid City at Utah) where one of Utah’s goalies is wearing 50 and one of Rapid City’s is wearing 60. If 0 or 00 aren’t available to wear, I’m glad that the digit 0 is getting some use on goalies.
  14. I love this idea. The bolded part really sold me on it. I even like the idea of using black instead of eggplant.
  15. If—and IMO it’s still a big if for the reasons listed above—the Jazz have pulled the plug on the rebrand, there’s still hope that a return to purple in a year or two could be on the table. Of course, purple could be on the table even if the rebrand goes through. As many on here have said, I’m not the biggest fan of the current Navy/Gold/Dark Green look Utah has sported, but it’s at least a more natural evolution of the team’s brand than Black/White/Highlighter Yellow.
  16. Agreed. Part of me is wondering how much of it has to do with the Danny Ainge hiring (his official title is “Alternate Governor/CEO” or something—I thought he was Team President) and the overall transition from the Millers to Ryan Smith and Friends. When Ainge was hired on around January, things seemed to really start unraveling internally (yes, I know the schedule was tough, but if you want a championship-caliber organization, you can’t keep coming up with excuses, especially when you keep going back to said excuses repeatedly). It appears that other teams have cracked Quin Snyder’s code, and he’s got no Plan B (it also doesn’t help that one of his assistants got busted for fraud, which also brings into question what he and Jazz brass knew as well). Which all kind of brings me to one underlying thought: To me, this off-season for Utah will say a lot about Ryan Smith—is he really committed to building a championship team, even if that means going through a painful rebuild, or is he just a slick software salesman who knows the right thing to say, when to say it, and how to spin it when things go sideways? Given how he said that “Purple is who [the Utah Jazz] are,” despite staying away from it when he had the chance to go back (and going to a color scheme literally no Jazz fan asked for!), I wouldn’t be surprised if the latter were true.
  17. I like the Knights and even I agree with this. It’s about time the whole having-no-loyalty-to-your-players mindset comes back to bite Vegas and humble the front office a bit. Also, occasional failure builds character and drives away the bandwagon fans.
  18. This worries me almost as much as the NHL being hellbent on keeping the Coyotes in Arizona. Owners going to the cities their teams play in to cough up billions in public money for a shiny new arena that seats 20,000+ (depending on the sport) is bad enough. Replace that 20,000+ seat venue with a 5-6k venue but keep the stadium price tag and the jump in prices due to a lower availability—only the ultra-wealthy would be able to afford to take a family to a game more than once every 3 years.
  19. Is there any clarification on this @Conrad., or is this just some kind of damage control?
  20. Just not as bad, as Purple would at least have some historical significance with Utah here, but it would jar badly with the highlighter yellow. I at least kept an open mind about Black/Yellow but held out some hope that there would be a good, well-executed design that would distract me from the fact about the Jazz opted for yet another color scheme, and that maybe the lovely shade of Gold that Utah has worn would survive the rebrand. Seeing that the leaks are pretty much true and that Utah are planning to wear this overplanned-yet-underdesigned postmodern look has all but dashed that hope (barring a last-second change). Hopefully this serves as a lesson to Ryan Smith, Dwyane Wade, and anyone else involved with this project who blindly forged ahead with no consideration of fans' opinions or team history to not just throw stuff out there. (Apparently Ryan Smith told Jazz social media marketing people to not be afraid of throwing out crazy/ugly ideas, when one was an awful 1980s-style computer font for game updates--other Jazz fans on here should know what I'm talking about.) Didn't the Suns add a purple jersey to one of their previous sets at the last possible second (sometime in the early-mid 2010s)?
  21. Hopefully sooner. Not counting on it, but we can hope.
  22. I’m not sure where to post this, but I think this is the best place to mention this, but apparently there was a Baltimore Ravens “Throwback” quickly-pulled-from-production mini helmet that had the 1996-98 front-facing swooping bird on it (the same one that adorned the sleeves in that same timeframe) on eBay. (Sorry, as well—I got outbid on it. Lousy timing, ending during my work shift.) This brings up a few intriguing questions: Did the Ravens ever plan on using this logo? Was it after the logo lawsuit, or was it supposed to be the primary logo? Is this the closest the Ravens could legally get to the winged B-Shield, or was this a fabrication from someone wanting to trick someone into buying it? Here are the screenshots for reference: Similarly, there was a 1993-94 Jacksonville Jaguars Leaping Jaguar mini helmet that was on Ebay. While most people here know about the original unused Jaguars helmet and logo, what’s interesting is that on the bottom of the box where all 30 teams (as of 1995), the Jaguars were in the NFC “West” while the Panthers were in the AFC Central. Was this the original plan for the 1995 expansion? Here's the screenshot of the division from the Jaguars helmet listing: Apologies if the images don't show up or if there's some kind of policy where I shouldn't post these, but this is in case the links don't work and are just to make sure that these images remain after the (already ended) eBay listings are taken down.
