  1. Chiefs/NYJ looking superb tonight.. The Jets should just make a set based on the 1980s-early 1990s look and stick with it, possibly with a Namath-era throwback as an alternate. (Heck, they could swing between the two sets every decade or so and I wouldn’t mind.) I tried giving the new set a chance, but it hasn’t aged well, given how averse to green the Jets have gotten since the switch.
  2. Wouldn’t surprise me, given Disney’s current financial state. Mono-on-mono sucks.
  3. As far as the new NFL number rules go, I don't mind the further use of single digits outside of QBs, Kickers, and Punters, but single digits still don't look quite right to me on defensive players. All that said, I love the use of the number 0 and can't wait for a quarterback to use it. This might not be the thread for it, but the number 02 car with reminded me: I can see the day in team sports where numbers with leading zeros (01-09) are allowed in addition to 00 before triple-digit numbers are allowed (provided that there's not a enough unretiring of numbers). I often treat 00 as a two-digit shorthand of 100 on a team where both 0 and 00 are worn, so it wouldn't be that big a stretch that 01-09 could be treated as two-digit shorthand 101-109. That could also be a way to distinguish offensive players from defensive players in football (single-digit numbers for offensive players, kickers, and punters, 01-09 for defensive players).

  5. I saw this the other day and thought, “Didn’t Shahid Khan just put in a decent amount of money for a stadium renovation or practice facility? That didn’t take long.” Anyways, I just don’t see a permanent move to London—if it even gets to that point—but Khan tried to buy the then-St. Louis Rams before Stan Kroenke did and IIRC has ties to the greater Missouri/Illinois region. Of course, San Antonio/Austin could be a great market as well, if the Cowboys and Texans were to let a 3rd team in Texas. Either St. Louis or San Antonio would fit in geographically well with the rest of the AFC South as well. I ultimately don’t see it happening, but those are my thoughts on this situation.

  7. If Salt Lake City manages to get an MLB expansion team, I could see them going with something like this. Well done! (I could also see an MLB Bees team channel the Boston Bees and go Navy/Yellow, so there’s a chance this could be a glimpse into the future if things fall into place for the MLB-to-SLC crowd.)
  8. Week 2 Thursday Minnesota at Philadelphia Sunday Baltimore at Cincinnati Seattle at Detroit Chicago at Tampa Bay Indianapolis at Houston Kansas City at Jacksonville Green Bay at Atlanta Las Vegas at Buffalo (I thought I picked BUF but apparently didn't make any pick, so I'll take the L here) LA Chargers at Tennessee San Francisco at LA Rams NY Giants at Arizona NY Jets at Dallas Washington at Denver Miami at New England Monday New Orleans at Carolina Cleveland at Pittsburgh
  9. Ah, it's that time of the year again... Week 1 Thursday Detroit at Kansas City Sunday Cincinnati at Cleveland Houston at Baltimore Carolina at Atlanta Tampa Bay at Minnesota Arizona at Washington Jacksonville at Indianapolis San Francisco at Pittsburgh Tennessee at New Orleans Las Vegas at Denver Philadelphia at New England LA Rams at Seattle Miami at LA Chargers Green Bay at Chicago Dallas at NY Giants Monday Buffalo at NY Jets
  10. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Maybe if the Brewers do bolt for Nashville, we could wind up with the Milwaukee White Sox after all.
  11. I think what’s left of the Pac-12 (whoever may still be on board) will merge with the Mountain West Conference, possibly taking up the Pac [Insert correct number of members here] moniker, or some combination of Pacific-Mountain Conference. I jokingly tweeted #USUToThePac12 when Utah State’s football program was finally looking good. Little did I know that I could very well be right, though certainly not in the way any of us envisioned. Anyways, Larry Scott is cackling on his yacht somewhere.
  12. One rivalry I do look forward to, with the Pac-12’s likely demise and Utah likely going to the Big 12, is making the Holy War a yearly, Novembertime thing again. But oh, how so many other rivalries will have fallen by the wayside because of the collapse of the Pac 12.
  13. As someone who’s appreciated Utah’s rise in the Pac At Least We Can Count, I’m feeling this way towards USC and UCLA for jumping to the B1G the way they did—and yet, I can’t entirely blame them, given what Larry Scott did in mismanaging the Pac-12 brand. Here’s what the U of U needs to do if these Colorado reports are indeed true (and it’s looking very much like they are): I love the idea of getting back in the same conference as BYU—and they can join some of their old Pac-12 (sounds weird hearing that) rivals in the Big 12 to boot.
  14. I’d love to see an NHL team come to Salt Lake, but I’ll believe it when I see it. That said, the thought of Utah Yeti (Colorado’s old secondary logo notwithstanding) has crossed my mind and isn’t a bad idea.
  15. I love the idea of just going with “Eagles” since Vegas has the “Golden” adjective locked down, but could that pose some legal issues with the Philadelphia NFL team? IIRC wasn’t that what kept the Washington Commanders from using “Wolves” somewhere in their name (like Redwolves)? Or would there be be a way around it, like trademarking the entire team name, like “Utah Eagles” instead of just “Eagles?” As for another possible name, I think “Stingers” would work well with a bee-themed identity—if Cincinnati doesn’t mind someone else picking up the old WHA team name.
  16. With all the chatter about Salt Lake, I’ve been itching to provide my input here, as I live in Salt Lake proper, not far from the proposed MLB stadium. I’ve got to agree that the Once-and-Future Delta Center is in no shape to house an NHL team for anything more than a 2-year stop-gap to an already-announced, funded, newer building. What is interesting about about the Power District plan on SLC’s west side is that an article (that came out the day before the MLB plan was formally announced) did mention (through “sources,” so take that for what you will) that an NHL-caliber arena is also under consideration: https://buildingsaltlake.com/officials-interested-in-building-an-mlb-stadium-on-salt-lake-citys-west-side/ Any talk of the Yotes somehow coming to town on such short notice would have to have all of these thing in place. I’d be estatic if Utah landed an NHL team, but I feel like, if anything, that Ryan Smith’s idea is more of playing the long game. That, and it’s only fair that Quebec City is first in line to land the Coyotes, what with having a ready building and all.
  17. These are definitely uniforms that I like more than I should; it’s probably because Im a sucker for copper.
  18. If judging social media graphics and draft caps is any indication, it looks like the Panthers could be moving toward a primarily light-blue look. Speaking of which, now would be Carolina’s chance to own a piece of the Light(ish) Blue pie, with Black/White/Silver accents to set them apart from the Chargers while the Titans insist on wearing mono Navy more times than not. I’m also kind of relieved that the Panthers’ changes seem to be minimal, given that the alternative tends to end up in a course correction half a decade down the road.
  19. It’s a pipe dream, but one could argue, at least in theory, that the Wolves might as well try to become Chicago NHL Team #2 in that case.
  20. Spring football in Vegas especially isn’t working now with the NFL in town. As a matter of fact, the Vipers’ venue issues are pretty much due to the Raiders taking the best non-Allegiant option (Sam Boyd) off the table.
  21. Looking forward to it. I’m not expecting it, but I’d love to see something along the lines of the set before last, but with a splash of Athletic Gold. Either that, or adding a Sand/Tan, which could lend itself well to a Chicago-era throwback well. But we’ll find out shortly.
  22. Still, Cardinal Red/Athletic Gold/Black is a great color scheme that I wish Arizona would adopt, it fits the region well and the state flag could be adapted to as an alternate logo pretty easily.
  23. Nah, he’s going to have the jerseys manufactured in Phoenix while paying free Coyotes tickets to workers. The Yotes still won’t be able to fill the converted airplane hangar that they’ll play in by then.
  24. Even if they stopped wearing it in 2007 (and even the first RBK Edge design, which basically only added the phantom yoke), I still think the Carolina Hurricanes set is a modern classic.
  25. Why do I get the sneaking suspicion that Lamar Jackson goes to Pittsburgh?
