I don’t see the Angels leaving Southern California, but even if they did somehow beat the A’s to Las Vegas, I could see a scenario similar to the contraction talks circa 2000 where the A’s ultimately take up residence in Anaheim. In this day and age, the greater Los Angeles area will not be left without 2 teams.

If I remember this right, the home arena seating decreases as you move up: Atlanta (ECHL): 10,000 Tucson (AHL): 7,000 Arizona (NHL): 5,000 The Arizona Coyotes, everybody!

I don’t hate Las Vegas as a market; to be honest, it should have had a team 10 years before it did. My concern is that Vegas ends up saturated before long. I can’t think of any #30 or smaller market (IIRC Vegas is, like, #35) that could end up having a team in all 4 major sports (and then some). I think the A’s would (will?) quickly drop to last in the market in terms of local support once the novelty wears off, and while they would have more visiting fans because Las Vegas, it comes across more as a get-richer-quicker scheme for Rob Manfred and Co. more than actually building (rebuilding) a fanbase in places like Portland, Nashville, Montreal, Salt Lake, etc. The Knights are adored because they were the first ones in, and the Raiders are the Raiders, but are you really going to have solid attendance for the A’s in Las Vegas at least 81 times a year 10 years in?

I want to believe that if the A’s end up moving, it won’t be Las Vegas—either the aforementioned Portland or Salt Lake—but given that MLB has waived the relocation fee to Las Vegas (or is it anywhere?), it’s obvious that Las Vegas is the preferred destination.

This is a great update to the Avs’ first alts, which IMO are underrated—maybe it’s just the right balance between traditional (design) and modern (colors, lettering and number font). Of course, I’m looking forward to the blueberries, hopefully with a hem stripe.

I never knew about that about the Nordiques. If those (pre-Edge) two-tone blues were available for retail (or if anyone wants to make and sell a decent DIY version of those), I’d get one in a heartbeat. I’d also like to reiterate how good and under-appreciated the original WHA Light Blue/Red look is, too. I love these kind of alternate-universe “what if this team didn’t/did move” concepts. Great job @StevenGrant94!
