    OK, we’ve got a lot going on here. Not only do we have former soccer goalie Petr Cech in a hockey uniform, but the template is the old Thrashers. The logo is a G-rated version of the Calgary Flames, and there’s the Sabres-esque front numbers. This is almost too much for my feeble brain.

    40-60 years ago, players weren't nearly as big and weren't moving nearly as fast. Collisions now are much more intense than back in the day. Besides, better rule enforcement doesn't equal "wussification."

    Delays could mean things are not running smoothly behind the scenes and other issues have been tougher to navigate than expected. The AAF should be a reminder football leagues are the toughest to build and sustain. Looking back, an early indicator the AAF was in trouble was how they randomly unveiled white jerseys for teams. They clearly hadn’t thought out how teams would clash, and didn’t bother or couldn’t afford to match the white jerseys with the primary. Maybe it’s nothing, but this delay is something to think about.

    Bourque and Kawhi are not an apples to apples comparison. Bourque was fine with the Avs but just a piece and not their best player. Kawhi was the reason the Raptors won.

    The XFL should try to buy the San Antonio Commanders, assuming the AAF folds. That identity could use a tweak or two but has potential.

    Part of me thinks that’s a nice gesture to honor the greatest-ever player in their sport and the greatest-ever athlete in their city (until D-Wade). But another part of me thinks it’s so tacky. The Heat have a real history and don’t need to do something like that.
