  1. Bengals are practicing in their white helmets for the first time today. It's kind of weird/surreal to actually see photos of it for real. It almost feels photoshoped.
  2. That Rockies usher is a hero. I saw Zack Hample once at a Reds game 10 or so years ago and I was second hand embarrassed for him. I don't wear a glove to baseball games because I'm an adult in my mid 30's, but if you want to that's your right and it doesn't interfere with anyone else's good time. What does interfere with people's good time is running around to sections you're not ticketed to be in, bumping people out of the way for home run balls, stealing balls from kids, bothering guys on the field/bullpen, and being a general pest to the stadium staff and other fans. Hample thinks the rules don't apply to him and the people I understand the least in sports are Zack Hample defenders. The Rockies usher did the right thing. Hample threw a temper tantrum* and then made a video about it trying to paint himself as the victim and the semi-retired 70 year old usher who's just enforcing the rules as some cranky jerk drunk on power. What Hample didn't show is that the guy asked him several times not to run in the handicapped seating area and several times Hample ignored him. If I'm ever at a game and I see that dude I'm boxing him out like Dennis Rodman. *I'm not a psychologist, but any 45 year old man obsessed with catching baseballs and who acts like that reads a little uhhhh...."neurodivergent", if you get my drift.
  3. The Steelers constantly drafting stud wideouts in the second round is really annoying.

  5. Is that in the bible? I don't like making rules like that because it limits options and creativity and also the Sharks themselves followed that rule for their entire history. We've already seen them do the black pants/teal numbers so if they're going to use teal pants then why not try the inverse of that? At worst, I don't think it's a decision that ruins the uniform. I wouldn't call it a mistake because it's was a deliberate choice. It was more like if the Canucks switched to green jerseys/pants/helmets/socks at home and then made the number blue on their white jerseys. I didn't like these Hurricanes uniforms, but I liked the decision to use black numbers because it made the whole uniform less red heavy. People keep asking "why didn't they wear black pants and teal numbers and gray stripes and stop using the new logo and use the original logo instead?" That's just the 1991 throwbacks. You're talking about the throwbacks. What I see is a balance of franchise heritage with trying some new ideas. If too many elements are too similar to the original unis then you might as well just use the original unis and I would've loved that too, but they're not trying to do a direct throwback and since they're not trying to do a direct throwback I like the moves they made. It's like that white Kings alternate I posted a few pages back - it's so close to the Gretzky uniforms without being the Gretzky uniforms that it sits in this uncanny valley of sort of resembling, sort of not and it feels incorrect. That would've been these Sharks uniforms with black striped pants.
  6. Black pants would've been the safe move and it would've looked good and we know that because teal numbers with black pants is what they've done since day one. I applaud the decision to use teal pants because it's trying something new and if we're using teal pants then I like black numbers over teal. How do you feel about the Blackhawks' use of black numbers on their white jerseys? I've always thought red with black outlines would've been the better way to go.
  7. I have not attended a game all season because of Phil. I'm usually good for at least 5. I went to like 15 last year when the team was actually fun and not terrible. And the boycott hasn't even been that hard. It's been surprisingly easy to put them out of my mind. FC Cincinnati has gotten 4 games out of me instead.
  8. Maybe he hangs out on the fence to get away from the mean wicked witch he lives with? The actress is channeling deep disdain for some dude somewhere in her past there, needs to dial it back by like 25%.
  9. That's what I was trying to say earlier. With black pants and helmets it's so close to the original look without being exact that it's got "can I copy your homework?" "Yeah, but just change a few things so it's not obvious" vibes. Same reason I think these Kings uniforms are weird. That's like two changes off of the 93 jerseys. Why not just wear the 93 throwbacks as they were? With the Sharks I think the teal pants and helmets are different enough from the OG look that it allows the striping on the jerseys, while similar to the OG look, to feel intentional and mark their own uniform statement in team history apart from the 91 unis.
  10. The only dated thing about the original Hurricanes uniforms is the NASCAR looking number font, but being in the city they play in the NASCAR number font is appropriate and charming in its own silly way. It made more sense for them than it did for the mid-90's Patriots who weirdly used a similar font.
  11. I've always kind of thought the Red Wings and Hurricanes and any other all red hockey uniform looks kind of weird because it's just so much of that color. We're just used to it because teams have been doing it since forever. Red is about the brightest color you can go and still pull off a mono uniform. All Yellow for example, like we saw with the LA Kings, looks really silly. I generally prefer uniforms that contrast the jersey/socks with the pants and helmet. Teal, though, works a lot better than I thought it would and is a fun departure from the expected route of black helmets and pants (And I'm glad they didn't do that because if they'd gone with black pants/helmets then they might as well just use the original unis at that point.)
  12. Come to think of it these are sort of like the teal version of these Hurricanes uniforms and I don't hate that at all. I think the black numbers on the white jerseys are the right choice because it balances out the teal pants. Teal numbers would've been fine too, but I think the black numbers look sharp. I am sort of baffled by the pushback on the orange in the logo and I don't really care about that detail. It's a small stripe, they've used orange in the stick since day one (or some color close to that), and there's a long history of teams using colors in their logos that don't appear elsewhere in the jersey to the point that it's pretty ignorable.
  13. The Bengals Nemo pants still irk me and they keep losing big games in that black-white-orange uniform combo (Like, I don't know, THE SUPER BOWL!), but they still look so good.
  14. I love these. My favorite new uniform in all of sports in years. I don't think I've liked an update this much since the Blue Jays went to their nu-92 set in 2012.
  15. Alcaraz is the next Nadal and we're going to be seeing him for a really long time. Loved what Tiafoe showed in this tournament. Just needs to calm down and avoid so many unforced errors.
  16. Chiefs Patriots Panthers Browns Colts Ravens Bucs Lions 49ers Rams Raiders Broncos Bengals Packers Bills Vikings
  17. Gary doesn't a honk anymore. He's retiring in like 11 minutes and the Coyotes are Bill Daly's problem then.
  18. Thoughts: - Rams sold their souls for that super bowl and if they miss the playoffs I won't be surprised. - Bills are really really good and I maintain that if they hadn't given up that touchdown in the last 13 seconds to KC they win last year's Super Bowl. The Bengals were not going to go into Buffalo and win the AFC Championship game and don't let any dumb Bengals fans tell you otherwise - the Bengals got a favorable matchup playing KC, a team they were familiar with due to the week 17 matchup, and who they matched up better with than Buffalo. But at the same time let's all pump the brakes and remember that the first month is essentially the preseason now since nobody plays their starters in the actual preseason anymore. Don't overreact just yet. Long way to go.
  19. Has anyone made a joke about the Sharks and the weight of all the extra stripes yet? These look fantastic. Not sure about teal pants and helmets as opposed to black, but I welcome more color into the league. I can imagine teal pants looking really slick with the white jerseys.
  20. It felt like we were back in Harrisburg in the USL. It was honestly hard to watch. I can't believe, even with a scheduling conflict, that that's the best New York's MLS team can do. Escaping that field with a draw was a victory.
  21. The Braves catching the Mets is the least surprising thing I've seen in sports since the Cardinals pulling an impossible run out of their butts last September.
  22. Bills Saints Browns 49ers Bengals Eagles Colts Dolphins Ravens Jaguars Titans Chiefs Chargers Packers Buccaneers Broncos
  23. I love tennis and I really should watch it more often. Tried to go to the WTA event here in Cincinnati a few weeks back and it got rained out. But had a hell of a good time watching Serena's last match on Friday and Tiafoe taking down Nadal yesterday. I've been waiting for Tiafoe to put it all together like that for a long time. We are in desperate need for a rockstar American player in men's tennis again and I think he could be that guy.
  24. I would not lie in this case. I think it was after the Browns blew this game to the Steelers. In Athens, Ohio the bar where all the Steelers fans would go (Lucky's) is right across the street from the Browns bar (Cat's Eye). I went to get food at Big Mama's Burritos on Court Street and I was walking to my friends' place to watch the Bengals game, which was an apartment on the other side of those two bars I walked right into a melee between a bunch of drunk children in football jerseys.
  25. Reminds me of the time in college when there was a nasty brawl between a dozen Browns fans and a dozen Steelers fans that spilled into the middle of the street and I just stood there in my Carson Palmer jersey and calmly watched while eating a burrito.
