  1. Here's a shameless plug of my prediction/hope for how the Twins' redesign will turn out:
  2. Here's an addendum of what I predict/hope we'll see from the Twins upcoming uniform redesign this off-season: essentially a combination of different eras throughout Twins' history, while bringing consistency to the identity and moving it further into modernity. Credit goes to @SFGiants58 for the original creation of the wordmark I used for 3 of the jerseys, which I made some slight tweaks to myself.
  3. This is the most exciting uniform news for me that I've seen in a long time. Dave St. Peter referencing the Padres was one of the most encouraging aspects of his quote. The Padres' 2020 redesign immediately vaulted them into a Top-5 uniform set in MLB in my opinion, so I could only hope the Twins could manage the same. I think it'd be difficult for them to downgrade from what they currently have, personally, so I'm cautiously optimistic. I do agree that my main hope for this redesign would be consistency. When you break down all of the inconsistencies in the Twins’ brand including their six (six!) current jerseys, it really can become infuriating. Since there's no better time to do so, I'll try to give a rundown here: Obviously, the home jerseys use gold, while the away jerseys do not. The logos have a red "Twins" wordmark with a navy outline and a silver shadow, while the home wordmark is navy with a red outline and a gold shadow. The home jersey has tri-color striping, the away has dual-colored striping (navy/red/navy), and the away navy jersey has single striping with a headspoon. There are two different "Twins" scripts, the main home wordmark and the throwback script. There are two different navy jerseys, one with gold and one without. The away jerseys have contrasting numbers not seen on any of the home jerseys. The home navy jersey has gold outlines around the wordmarks and numbers, while the rest of the jerseys have shadows. There are 4 different logo patches among the 6 jerseys. I think that's all of them, but I honestly might be missing some. It's quite atrocious. I think we'll see a streamlining of the logos, wordmarks, and uniforms across the board, to where the Twins can finally have a cohesive brand again. My hope is that they stick to 4 jerseys: white (or cream), gray, navy, and powder blue. I think the red cap & jersey can go, although I think they might keep them around. Tradition is a meaningful reason to keep it, though. I'd personally be more open than most Twins fans would be to a color change, but I can see why the team would keep navy & red. As Mr. St. Peter mentioned, the Twins don't have just 60 years of history in navy & red, they've been that way since 1901, when they were in Washington as one of the American League's charter clubs. Yes, please. I believe they will end up ditching it, as Dave St. Peter did not mention gold when reciting the Twins' colors. From what I've seen, the gold has not been popular with the fanbase, and I think he has realized that. I think and hope this is the direction they're going in, too. The wordmark they've been using is actually an updated version of @SFGiants58's script he created for the Twins: I think that's what they'll end up going with, too, probably with a tweaked "Minnesota" script to match.
  4. This series is off to a good start! I do think your most recent version of Washington is the best one so far. They’re all pretty nice, though. The Browns set is really nice, using off-white for the throwback is genius. I’ve always liked the idea of incorporating off-white into their look, but would personally be hesitant to extend it to the whole uniform set, so this would be a perfect happy medium. It helps that it separates itself some more from the main white jersey this way, too. The Rams are probably my favorite overall set you’ve done so far, all of the updates you’ve made are quite nice. You even managed to incorporate the gradients in a tasteful way on every jersey, which is no small task. I’m looking forward to seeing what you have next!
  5. This series looks great so far! The Cardinals set is really nice. I always tend to imagine them with a more “rounded” font, but the unique block works well for them too. The Commanders set is a definite upgrade, as well. I’d maybe like to see it with their new number font, and I’d love to see you try your hand at the alternate being black, since the facemask is still black. The Ravens look great, I always love the idea of them being primarily purple & black with a little bit of red, with gold being basically eliminated. The number font with the shadows is super cool, that’s gotta be my favorite part. I am curious what it would look like if you went with a font more closely inspired by the image you referenced, as I’ve always felt that font could work really well on the jerseys. I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing more teams from you!
  6. Another great list. Chargers - Chiefs is pretty much perfect. I don’t think I could love the Chargers uniforms any more than I already do, the white over yellow look is absolutely phenomenal. Bears - Packers is always great, and then I think I’d vault Patriots - Steelers up to #3, as I like the Patriots set more than it seems you do. I do wish they’d add some silver pants, though. I don’t think the all-white for the Vikings is as bad as when they wear the white socks with the purple jersey, but it’s still pretty rough. Purple pants would be so much better. My personal list: BEST 1. Chargers at Chiefs 2. Bears at Packers 3. Patriots at Steelers 4. Seahawks at 49ers WORST 1. Titans at Bills
  7. I’m a bit behind, as I just realized these lists are back (a welcome discovery!), but this is a good list. I’d probably drop everything below Steelers-Bengals into the “Honorable Mentions” category, but otherwise I pretty much agree. Packers-Vikings would normally immediately make it into my “Best” category, but the white socks for the Vikings very nearly ruins one of my favorite uniforms in the league. For the “Worst” matchups, I’d probably take Patriots-Dolphins off, as that matchup is “fine” to me, it could be better, but it could definitely be so much worse. If I kept Saints-Falcons on my “Worst” list, it’d only be because of the Saints’ horrid all-white. I agree with @raysox, I think the Falcons’ current uniform set is just fine. To recap, my personal list would be: BEST 1. 49ers at Bears 2. Raiders at Chargers 3. Steelers at Bengals HONORABLE MENTIONS 1. Browns at Panthers 2. Packers at Vikings WORST 1. Broncos at Seahawks I’m about to check out Week 2, and I’m excited to see the rest of the lists throughout the year!
  8. The flaming thumbtack logo has always been “meh” for me. Not the worst logo ever, but definitely not among the best in the NFL. I’m not sure how I would go about depicting a “Titan” other than just leaning heavily on Greek imagery, but I wouldn’t have minded seeing the team try something new with their logo in their 2018 rebrand. Judging by how the uniforms turned out though, it probably wouldn’t have been great. Speaking of the uniforms, I think @PERRIN’s design is about as close to perfect as one could get for them. Essentially, an update of the previous uniforms would have been nice. I’m one of the rare people who doesn’t mind the Titans’ current number font, although the thicker version on the light blue jersey is far superior. Otherwise, everything about their current uniforms can go in the dumpster.
  9. I’d argue the Jordan 1s are what really propelled Nike into the stratosphere, they’re still one of the most popular shoe designs Nike has to this day, and they prominently feature the Swoosh. (This original pair worn by Jordan sold for over $600,000).
  10. Ah yes, I’m pretty sure they were the team I was thinking of. I think that’d be a viable solution for teams like the Steelers & throwback Dolphins. Yes, I’ll admit, Nike having quite likely one of the best logos ever definitely makes it more palatable. However, if Puma, for example, had just the animal as the logo, or if Adidas had just the three stripes, etc. (i.e., if every company had the most minimalist version of their logo), then I don’t think many of them would be much more egregious than Nike. GAP isn’t the most fair “what if,” since they’re a brand not at all associated with sports uniforms, without an iconic “logo” to show for themselves that isn’t just text. I could not disagree with this more. I don’t think I’d consider myself a professional designer by any means, but the Nike logo is iconic because of its simplicity. Sure, the brand’s success is what gets it synonymous with sportswear in popular culture, but if a brand can get across all of the associations it wants people to think of while using such a simple, singular shape for its logo, as Nike does, then I’d say they’ve done a pretty good job.
  11. Nike has shown willingness to move their logo to accommodate the sleeve design though, as shown by the two LA teams’ recent redesigns: As you can see, the logo is significantly lower on the sleeve because of both designs. I can’t think of a specific example off of the top of my head, but I’m almost positive the logo had been placed above the shoulder cap for some other teams’ players, too, especially for bigger lineman where the stripes would get cut off otherwise. As always, it’s about whether the teams actually want/ask for the logo to be moved slightly, not Nike being unwilling to accommodate. And as for the sleeve stripe discussion in general, I’m on the younger side so football uniforms have always looked like that to me. Having the stripes cut off at the sleeve cap doesn’t bother me.
  12. I was coming here to mention this too. It looks immeasurably worse than their regular purple socks.
  13. As a Florida State fan, this was an inevitability, but that doesn’t make me hate it any less. I actually normally really like white-out looks in general, but when you have a helmet as iconic as FSU’s gold one is, this is just unnecessary. At the very least, they should have made the inner part of the spear gold.
  14. Now that’s a very cool logo. I’m not sure I’d endorse it for the Giants myself, just because they’re such a traditional and no-nonsense team, even though on its own the logo looks great. The only suggestion I’d make to it would be to maybe try & remove the serifs on the bottom-left of the ‘N’ and the upper-right of the ‘Y,’ as they seem to mess with the streamlined nature of the logo, if that makes sense. It might end up looking worse than what you already have, but I wouldn’t know until I saw it. I would love to see an enlarged version of the logo, either way. Great work!
  15. The orange socks for the Dolphins is pretty cool. Assuming they go back to the throwbacks full-time at some point, I wouldn’t mind if they busted those out every once in a while.
  16. Thank you! My personal Top 5 in no particular order would probably be: Rays Rockies Giants Tigers Royals
  17. And with that, the Cooperstown Collection is complete! The entire collection has been uploaded at this website, so that it can be viewed all together. Thank you for following along!
  18. Washington Nationals Cooperstown Collection The Nationals get the Expos treatment, with a fauxback of the racing stripes design the Expos wore from 1980-1991.
  19. Count me as considering the Vikings uniforms to be the best they’ve ever had, by a wide margin. Would I prefer they had a matching purple facemask, & that they match the white pants stripe to the stripe of the white jersey? Sure. But if I was forced to choose between dealing with those minor nitpicks & taking the risk of a complete redesign, I’d take their current look as-is for the rest of time.
  20. Toronto Blue Jays Cooperstown Collection I kind of wish I saved the Jays' main light blue jersey for this, so instead I tried a different light blue design based on their original away jersey from 1977.
  21. Texas Rangers Cooperstown Collection This design is based off of the home jersey of the 2nd Washington Senators (who eventually became the Rangers) from 1963-1967.
  22. Tampa Bay Rays Cooperstown Collection Combining the fauxback font with the gradient the Rays wore from 1998-2000 creates a look that somehow feels even more 70's than the original fauxback.
  23. St. Louis Cardinals Cooperstown Collection This design was inspired by the home jersey the Cardinals wore in 1927 (with "World Champions" text around the cardinal) and 1928.
  24. Thank you! Yeah, navy and teal is honestly my favorite color scheme in all of sports (as one could tell from my profile picture), but I do agree that the Mariners don't take advantage of it to the fullest. That's why my redesign for them increased the prominence of teal within the brand, and tried to modernize the wordmarks while remaining true to the team's history.
