  1. Alternate helmets are supposed to go with alternate uniforms, but the Panthers managed to use their home blacks with it by designating all-black our "Color Rush" alternate and wearing black helmets with that. I could see the Lions doing something similar with either their all-white or all-blue uniforms.
  2. I'm a known Southern hockey defender, but I think that honestly the only thing that makes it work long-term is long-term success. Now, the Canes, Lightning, Preds, and Stars have all accomplished that (with Vegas well on the way), while the Yotes and Panthers have not. Obviously those two are also really hurt by their awful stadium locations but I do believe that a more successful Coyotes team could (emphasis on could) have worked. Now though? Unless the team can get that Tempe plan put through I think it's time to pull the plug. I think the team has sucked for too long to build any serious support. We're starting to see the effects of the generation raised with these teams in other markets, but Arizona hasn't paid off like other Sun Belt markets have, and I think it's because they've sucked so much. I think hockey can work anywhere, even in Phoenix, but I think that the mishandling of the Coyotes has poisoned the well, so to speak. Move the team to Quebec, wait a bit, and when you decide to expand again for whatever reason, try again in Arizona.
  3. The slight curve down the front stretch is what really intrigues me. Both Bristol and Martinsville are straight down the stretches so Auto Club should provide something new. The 2-mile track posted a great race to finish on, but I think moving to a short track is the right call. The track needed to be repaved soon anyway (losing the great racing fans have come to love) and honestly? I'd rather NASCAR get the money to reinvest in facilities and improving the fan experience. I do wish that we had another 2-miler on the schedule that isn't Michigan (not that Michigan is bad, but I want another one to help diversify). Now if only they would bulldoze Texas.
  4. Because that's what people who are innocent do. Get that guy out of here as soon as possible.
  5. Yep, I misread what the post was saying. I thought it was about teams with color schemes that are color + white + black, not teams that are predominantly color + black. Atlanta's heavy use of gold, especially recently, still makes me hesitant to consider them trying just a red + black team but they fit the prompt more than Charlotte does. I'm more than happy for Charlotte to keep a focus on blue and white - them not making their primary kit black was one of the best decisions they've made. I'd like to see either a checkered or pinstriped kit at some point to reference other Charlotte sports but the "Blue Arsenal" look should 100% be the standard for the team.
  6. More than happy to see the pitch clock. Time between pitches was at ridiculous levels and if pitchers and batters can't get set in 15 seconds that's on them.
  7. Not to tack on but I would drop Atlanta here and add Charlotte, who use "The Black and Blue" as a nickname frequently, I'm assuming like Montreal does as well.
  8. I love that set! I'd love nothing than for the Checkers to return to their blue and orange color scheme full-time. Last season the Checkers wore a Charlotte FC-inspired blue, white, and black set and it looked great. All in all I prefer them in blue over red but I don't think they'll ever change full-time. From what I've heard the owner is a Georgia alum which resulted in the red and black.
  9. I actually prefer the new logo, the old one was a little busy for me. Love the S the new one forms.
  10. I think that's due to finish, and not due to material matching. That Seattle helmet is really nice.
  11. The difference here is, of course, that "Vegas" is a common nickname for the city, and "Angeles" is not. What is a common nickname for Los Angeles is LA, and guess what? Both the Clippers and Galaxy use it.
  12. Charlotte FC's new clash kit, dubbed the "Crown Jewel" kit: Can't seem to find an explanation for really any of it, but I don't hate it, I guess? Using CLTFC's blue really helps set it apart from Ally (especially the sponsor logo being in blue) but I'm not really seeing anything worth keeping around here. The mint set from last year was better and I wouldn't be surprised if it returned in some form in two years.
  13. That's what I'm talking about! Love that green for Tech. An extremely classy look for the Engineers. Liking everything else in the OAC, I think my only complaint is that the stroke on the Orioles logo feels a little thin, especially in comparison to how thick it is on the jerseys.
  14. I disagree, the Canes' R/W/R/W is a great look and I hope more teams start wearing colored helmets with their white jerseys. So long as it matches their pant color and provides good contrast with the home team's helmet (like in that picture vs Pittsburgh) the colored helmet look is great.
  15. Korea does use its language for names, but Japan does not.
  16. I... don't know how to feel about that Charlotte kit. Purple and blue is a nice color scheme and very Charlotte, but the pink feels out of place. I'll wait to pass final judgement until I see the kit in its full context but I'm not holding my breath. At least we'll have our primary kits this year as well.
  17. Clearly on some level it still does, cause Air Force still sponsors the 43 and even the Space Force got a race in with the 42.
  18. It seems like in general soccer fans (in the States, at least) are more progressive - they're "unionized" with supporters' groups, generally have no tolerance for intolerance, and are very willing to speak out for what they believe in. I would love to see that kind of culture transplanted to other sports (supporters groups are a thing for other sports but they usually don't get a dedicated section) because IMO sports are more fun when the crowd's into it.
  19. Exactly, I don't expect the homophobes and xenophobes of the league to suddenly be paragons of the LGBTQ+ cause, but I do believe in normalization and gestures of goodwill - provided they get backed up. Personally? I don't care if players don't like gay people, they should wear the damn rainbow shirt for an hour before a game because that's the uniform for the day and every player on the team should wear the same uniform.
  20. I really like the idea of using the Atlanta Legends logo and even color scheme for a Charlotte Monarchs club, which would of course be my first choice for expansion. Also from the AAF, the Fleet logo would be great for the Hampton Roads area. I'd also suggest taking a look at Major League Lacrosse, you could easily do something with the Riptide and Pride logos. Major League Rugby's Dallas Jackals logo is great as well. Logo-wise, the Overwatch League has a great selection, and its sister league the Call of Duty League also has a couple.
  21. Because Corral was a third-round pick who got hurt before he could play a game. Same reason the Cardinals dumped Rosen to go in on Kyler - why waste time on someone that was never a guarantee when you can swing for the fences and draft a much more sure thing?
  22. Crown Legacy is definitely better than "Charlotte FC II" and on the whole I think the brand is solid. I prefer the parent club's crown and ligature, personally, but on the whole I'm glad to see a unique brand for out MLS Next Pro team. They play in Matthews as well, which means it'll be even easier to see games for me.
  23. Excellent work as always! The Sun Warriors are great and I love Tenn A&M's traditional look. I'm looking forward to the Old American the most but Big Canada and Big West are really intriguing me.
