DoctorWhom
Phillies take a 2-1 series lead. I have a feeling this series may go the distance. While the Astros* finish off the Yankees in 4 or 5. Still would rather see the Padres in the World Series though, I just don't think the Phillies would have enough magic to BS their way into beating Houston. BBTV
That wasn't a Steve Austin "beer chug" where 90% of it ends up on his face or on the ground. He didn't spill a drop. That's impressive. I don't know how it's coming across on TV, but the park is louder than I heard it even from '07-'11. I go home and my ears are ringing like I've been to a concert. 1 Quote "The views expressed here are mine and do not reflect the official opinion of my employer or the organization through which the Internet was accessed." FinsUp1214
Yeah, the Phillies’ crowd definitely sounded loud watching on TV. Sounded like an awesome place to watch a game and a really fun environment. I’m really enjoying this Phillies/Padres series. It’s been very entertaining with a lot of back-and-forth, and a great “don’t care who wins, just enjoying baseball” kind of series. It’s the perfect contrast to Yankees/Astros, which has the plug-your-nose feel to it and would just prefer the series end in the two somehow eliminating each other.

I haven't watched much Yankees/Astros, but I doubt it's been as sloppy as the Phillies/Padres series. Lots of defensive miscues and baserunning snafus. If I was watching this series without any context, I'd question how these teams made it this far. It's been frustrating because every time the Padres hit the ball I'm holding my breath that a Phillie doesn't kick it, drop it, or forget which base to throw it to. Padres defense is exponentially better, but even they (*cough* Soto) have butchered a few plays. Would have liked to see a better fight, but this was about how I expected it to go all things considered. Choices to be made for sure in the offseason with Boone (and Judge, who will likely stay, but who knows). At least the regular season was mostly fun. DoctorWhom
I'm certain the Yankees will make all the wrong moves like keeping Boone & signing Judge to an albatross of a contract they're going to regret down the line. This also yet another reason why regular season performance means exactly jack :censored: in the playoffs. Along with the 2 teams in the NLCS. Yes his playoff performances have been bad, but it’s not like he’s unique in that regard on the team, and we’d have to spend money insanely well to make up for the lost wins during the regular season. FiddySicks
I want to see the Giants make the dumb move of throwing the house at Judge and then try to nickel and dime their way to the rest of a full roster. Really bring back the late 90s, if you will. Quote On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Dynasty
The fact that Houston has owned New York in the past several years is bizarre, and honestly hilarious. It amazes me that a franchise like the Yankees, as lustrous as they are or have been historically, are actually on the bad end of a rivalry. It's usually the other way around. FiddySicks
Put this in the wrong thread, so I’ll repeat it here. Phillies look like a team of destiny. For as hot as the Astros have been, I think the Phil’s take em out in 5. They feel like those devil magic Giants teams from a decade ago. 2 1 Quote On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Have you paid attention to the Red Sox - Yankees rivalry at all? Red Sox have dominated the Yankees for a better part of a decade now. Beating them in every possible round of the playoffs (Wildcard, Divisional, and ALCS). The last time the Yankees beat the Red Sox in playoff series, Boone hit a walk off HR for them. They've lost to Houston in three (or maybe soon-to-be four) series within a shorter stretch of seven years. I'm focusing more on just the recent number of years rather than beyond a whole decade. New York and Boston have met each other back to back for a century, they play in the same division, they see each other more often, so there is bound to be moments where one gets the upper hand on the other. These are the Astros. Before 2017, they were one of the bottom tier franchises and again, I find it amusing that the Yankees are struggling against a non-division opponent that doesn't have all the pizazz like the bigger franchises do historically. TrueYankee26
Only thing that feels similar is when the Yankees lost to the Angels in 2002 & 05 and the Tigers in 2006, 11 and 12 Quote trueyankee26.wordpress.com

DoctorWhom
I'm still not bullish on the Phillies chances against the Astros*, but congrats to them nonetheless. Only thing that irks me is that I had them making the world series at the start of the season, if I was a gambling man I would have just won a crap ton of money. With Harper & Schwarber, I knew they were going to be a deadly combo. That pitching staff been playing out of their minds.
