So really, if anything, this is a reflection on just how historically inept Dusty Baker has been at managing teams in the playoffs and World Series. Why in the world would he would let McCullers pitch long enough to give up FIVE home runs? Itā€™s really fascinating just how many times heā€™s blown it in this situation. I really have a hard time wrapping my head around that.Ā
Ā

Iā€™m sure heā€™s probably a hall of famer at some point just based on his longevity alone. But god, I really hope not. Dude is a bum ass loser and always has been.Ā

I think they're going to have to honor people's parking money for tomorrow, but they don't do receipts anymore and everything's cashless so I'm not sure how that works.

Ā

Of course, it got called 30 seconds after I tapped my subway card - but I'm only out $2.25.Ā  Lots of folks are out a lot more.

Ā

The funny thing is that game 5 of the world series between Houston and Philadelphia will be competing directly against TNF between... Houston and Philadelphia.Ā  That's a ratings disaster for both leagues.Ā Ā

if it goes 6, Philadelphia could win the MLB and MLS title on the same day. Iā€™m rooting for the trivia.

Man, I hope you are right.

This WS is giving 2008 vibes myself.

Ā

US economy is in a recession (Great Recession in 2008, COVID recession this year).

Ā

Phillies face a team in the Southern United States (Rays in 2008, Astros this year).

Ā

Phillies win Game 1 by 1.

Phillies only score 2 runs and lose Game 2.

Game 3 goes to Philly and gets disrupted by rain (delay in 2008, postponement in 2022).

Phillies later win Game 3.

Ā

Game 4 and 5?

Well hey now we got a series on our hands! That being said, seeing that it was a combined no hitter and canā€™t help but think anything but meh. The whole thing of multiple pitchers not giving up a hit just doesnā€™t have nearly the same cachĆ© as a single pitcher no no. Still think the Phillies are winning this. Probably in six.Ā

Exactly. A combined no-hitter is still a great feat but it would have been amazing if Javier did it all himself.

Also, so many want to think that this gives the Astros momentum in the series. I don't believe in momentum in baseball. The Phillies will face different pitchers tonight. They smacked around Verlander in Game 1 and they can do it again. I also believe they can steal Game 6 in Houston to clinch the series.Ā

Pretty sure this is just standard Philadelphia protocol anyway

Ā

"Schwarberfest" is a new promotion unlike any they've done before for a specific player or team.Ā  Basically, "Hoagiefest" (discounted hoagies) runs through the summer, and since he hit something like 21 HR in June then kinda cooled off just a bit, they decided to "bring back June" by offering the Hoagiefest deals again but directly tied to Schwarber.Ā  It's hokey, but whatever.Ā  It saves people a buck or two.
