On the uni-watch article about the 3 helmet rule it states that Denver has hinted at using 3 helmets.  That was a couple pages back here.  At any rate, they also state it's been confirmed Denver's primary will be white.  Did I miss something?  I've only seen the speculation but not a confirmation.

I don’t think there has been any confirmation of a white primary helmet yet.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

It makes me a bit nervous that I can’t see the pant stripes. But if they’re based on the Legacy White, then they pretty much have to have pant stripes…right?

It's somebody's concept. It can be whatever it wants to be.

IRL, I would hope you're right.

It's where I sit.

The person who posted those Jets jerseys on the subreddit said in the comments that they created the graphic based on what they were told about the uniforms and also created the various combinations themselves just to show off everything and fill out the graphic. Neither the combos nor the graphic are official.

This is what else they said.

I was given a detailed explanation of the designs of each element: jersey, pants, helmet, socks. I wasn’t shown anything but I know they match the template of the NY sack exchange throwback from last season with the exception of outlines on the numbers for the black uniform. Apparently white block without outlines made them have basically no green and that didn’t feel like the jets. Flat green numbers would be similar to the old 49ers blackouts and the numbers didn’t contrast well on those.

Quote

“Jets have three sock options, all one-color. White, black, green.”

“last year’s throwbacks are untouched. Same template is being used on the home uniforms which are green. They’re a one-for-one copy of the NY Sack Exchange homes, just like the throwbacks last year that will be used for the always top now. So green sleeve cuffs with white stripes, white collar. Black jerseys are green collars and white stripes, black sleeve cuffs. White numbers with green outline. Didn’t feel like there was enough green without the outlines I think.”

“three options on pants. White pants used last year for throwback staying, and they’re being flipped green/white on the same template for a green option. Black pants have a white stripe. No green. Don’t love that there’s no green, but they wanted continuity with the top stripes not being outlined?”

“throwback helmets remaining the same. The black helmet is the same as last year, facemasks and all, but they’ve switched out the bumpers and they’re putting a white jets logo with green outline.”

Thank you. I’d prefer that they not have white socks available (remember how wonderful the Legacy Whites looked with green socks?), but all things considered this confirms that they’re staying traditional, which is a huge upgrade.

A couple things to consider for those afraid of the NFL being turned into Oregon. First, imagine coming up with and producing 17 uniforms for 32 teams with 53 players each. That would cost a ton, even by Nike or NFL standards.

Second, the NFL could have a policy similar to MLB's 4+City Connect for uniforms. It may not be official, but there's practicality to it.

Finally, the jersey is one of the first things used to identify teams, if not the first. A different design every week would kill that. We know Oregon because that's the only team to use weekly uniforms.

The mix and match potential could get ugly, but there is a limit to what the NFL and Nike can do.

Your last point is weakened by the NBA. Jersey is the first thing used to identify a team? Not anymore!

I wouldn’t have minded this if they wore green socks

If the Jets were going to use black items with the green/white portion of that set, they should’ve included more black trim. Green socks would certainly improve this look, but the black pants would still have felt shoehorned in there.

I wish I could believe that, but I suspect the NFL/Nike WANTS every team to be like Oregon.

These White/White combos don't suck at all...in large part because the teams wear White helmets.

I always advised my clients:  White helmet = White pants.  If you wear a dark pant under a White helmet & White jersey, you're just going to have a very unbalanced, bottom-heavy look.  The exception was teams that had a very light color that they wanted to use for a pant, such as the Chargers with Yellow pants or the Buccaneers with Creamsicle Orange pants, or the Dolphins in Aqua pants.  Even then, it's slightly unbalanced and just doesn't look as good as White/White/White/contrasting sock.

Examples of this being a bad combination:

As someone who watches hockey, where every single away uniform is white helmet/white jersey/colored pants/white socks, I disagree. I always prefer colored pants with a white jersey, as long as proper contrasting white socks are worn.

It might also strengthen my point. The NFL may decide it wants fans to know who is playing and stick with identifiable uniforms. MLB has a similar issue with City Connect, but the NHL's Reverse Retro had uniforms similar to their primaries.

I will continue to maintain that the NHL overall has the best visual identity of all four major US sports (yes, they ruined it somewhat with ads, but 3/4 major US sports have them). Even the more "radical" NHL designs show a lot of restraint. The state of NHL uniforms is so traditional that we've been freaking out this season about colored helmets being worn with white jerseys.

I despise white socks unless they have team-color striping.

I’m totally fine with three helmets. It also makes me slightly less worried about what the Broncos are apparently going to do.
