OMMF
...now that EA has lost the MLB license, sources say that they are looking toward the collegiate ranks for their next baseball title. Trade in the crack of the wood for the dink of the aluminum, use the MVP engine, and I think you have a hot seller out of nowhere. I know I would rather buy one MLB game and one NCAA game rather than two MLB games, and I think the new direction will work. It's funny, because one of the strategies of MLB in giving the exclusive license to 2K Sports was the thought that all of the talent working on the various baseball videogames would naturally leave companies like EA and Midway and go work for 2K to make the ultimate MLB game. Looks like that idea backfired, as EA is not only coming out with a competitive product, it's bringing back the MVP engine, which I feel is the best in baseball. Thad
YES!!I sent a letter to EA every year for five years asking them to make a college baseball game. I'm glad they didn't go unwasted
See Red
I'd buy it.With 2k getting the MLB license, does that mean they won't be selling the MLB game for $19.99? And if they continue to do so, ya think the EA Sports college game would go for $29.99?
yh
Interesting proposition. It could become a cult hit and it could also spur more interest in NCAA baseball in general. It would have to carry a relatively light price though.
LMU
If it has Loyola in it, I most certainly will buy it.
Phil
Does this mean there's hope that a non-EA developer may pick up the CFL license to carry on their football torch?I'm as pumped about Maximum Football as anyone, but it's been a long time coming. NCAA Baseball != CFL in terms of US popularity I'm afraid. Now the Arena Football game coming out, that might be a different story. Even the Rugby game is an ok seller. I would buy the CFL game (and any CHL game anyone wants to make) but I think the audience is limited.
TFoA
Hell yeah I'd buy it. I've always wanted to start up a virtual baseball dynasty with Mississippi St. Also, I love the sound of an aluminum bat hitting the ball. PING!
pcgd
College baseball might be niche, but college sports and baseball in general aren't. You combine those 2 I think you have a winner. To me, its a better option than a college basketball game. You generally don't know many players, so not having the names isn't going to be a big deal. I'm tired of Lenny Liberman taking the ball upcourt for the illini instead of dee brown. But if Bob McDougall hit a grand slam at Illinois Field instead of Larry Sutton (last time I paid attention to Illinois baseball he was playing...this was 10 years ago) I wouldn't care.I'd buy it for sure. Plus I like playing the MLB games at small fields.
NJTank
No because they use the cruddy aluminum bat.
