lebron james is called king james, the chosen one, and the next jordan. evryone threats him like he is jordan. though everyone knows hes not. lebron can't even get his team to the playoffs. and yet everytime he dunks, its on the highlight reel, even when its not highlight reel material. the media makes lebron is the greatest player of all time, even from high school. espn brodcasted his high school games and always sucking up to him. call me jelous, call me stupid, but there is a difference between mj and lebron. JORDAN ACTUALLY WENT TO COLLAGE!

Welcome to the NBA my friend. That is the way it will be. They need a marquee young player to hype thier lack luster league. He is their best hope. I do somewhat agree with you.

It's the same sort of feelings I have about Michael Vick.

LeBron was hyped because he was the best high school player in a generation that overhypes and over markets EVERYTHING.

It's not just the NBA or NFL either. What about Sidney Crosby? Isn't he the Next One? Isn't he hyped beyond belief? I don't watch or follow junior hockey but the "media" wanted us to believe he is the greatest player of all time on any level. You want to talk about one player being the NBA's only hope? Dude, I think you misspelled NHL! Ron Mexico could drop dead tomorrow and the NFL wouldn't miss a beat (well maybe in Atlanta).

Seriously though, just stop hating! :cursing:

He's 20 years old and has been in the league 2 years. No he hasn't been to the playoffs YET. But you just seem like you're looking for an excuse to hate.

and yet everytime he dunks, its on the highlight reel, even when its not highlight reel material. the media makes lebron is the greatest player of all time, even from high school.

Who called him the greatest of all time?

espn brodcasted his high school games and always sucking up to him. call me jelous, call me stupid, but there is a difference between mj and lebron. JORDAN ACTUALLY WENT TO COLLAGE!

Meaning what exactly? Does going to COLLAGE make you a better player? There's a big difference between Kevin Garnett and Ed O'Bannon, too, but do you need me to point it out?

Seriously, why was this posted? You seem like you just want to hate on a player for no reason whatsoever. I hate to have to tell you this, but Lebron really is a good player. In 2 seasons, he's averaged 24, 6 and 6 by AGE 20. Those are outstanding numbers for a future HOFer in his prime, and this is a 20 year old kid. Once he gets a good cast around him, he'll be deadly.

Did Lebron steal your lunch money or something?

You used to hold me

Tell me that I was the best

Anything in this world I want

I could posses

All that made me want

Was all that I can get

In order to survive

Gotta learn to live with regrets

Give the guy a break. He's racked up stats like crazy, and he's 20? 20? That's younger than me (I'm 21)! Hopefully the Cavs can build a good supporting cast around LeBron just like the Bulls did with MJ, and THEN we can compare.

Until then, he still has the most potential I, and most people have seen in any NBA player. I think this year will be a good test to see if he can make that next step.

Don't be hating just yet.

I do think he's WAY overexposed, but give him a couple more years to live up to the hype. I think he's been doing fine so far.

This is quite ironic seeing this is coming from a Bulls fan <_<

Step back 20 years and many of the same things you're saying about Lebron and the Cavs would have DEFINITELY applied to MJ and the Bulls, or as they were known at the time, "Michael and the Jordan-Airs"...

Kinda very ironic too that you're decrying Lebron for being "overhyped" when the guy you're defending (MJ) was kind of the start of the hype machine with the NBA.

Put down the Hate-orade, please....

I am not the dude's biggest fan, but I can certainly give credit where credit is due. He is top 10 in ppg, assists, steals, effeciency, minutes, among others. He is the real deal. Besides if Jordan came into the league when LaBron did, would he have gone to college? Doubt it. Different eras, different thought processes.

LeBron is a good basketball player. Great? Remains to be seen. It's still early in his career. He is putting up some better than average numbers, but we'd all have to see if he can continue this pace for a few more seasons down the line.

Look back through history of great basketball players. Cousy. Robertson. Chamberlain. Russell. Dr. J. Bird. Kareem. Michael. Do you think that LeBron was better at 18 than any of them? What about 20?

I do believe that LeBron is overhyped. But so is the whole league. The quailty of play in the league has dropped dramatically over the years. I remember when 115-110 scores were the norm. And that was long before the experiment to bring the 3-point line in closer to the basket. The lack of fundamentals has killed the sport. There's no other sport that fosters a "me-first" attitude more than basketball, and that has also driven fans away.

There is a huge influx of players who are entering the NBA right from high school. Who can blame them? If at 18 I was offered millions of dollars to play a sport, hell yeah, I would have taken the offer. But I don't think it's due to all these phenomenal players blossoming all of a sudden. I don't think that high school players from the last 6 or so years are any better than the best high school players of the 60's, 70's, 80's or 90's. Rather, the level of play in the NBA has dropped so much that the skill of the players has dropped to near high-school level, and not the other way around. How many non-college players were in the NBA back then? I can only think of one: Moses Malone. Now, every team has at least one. And since the bar has been lowered, it's within the grasp of these great high school players, that they can skip college (and avoid a potential career-ending injury and loss of huge amounts of money) and enter the NBA draft.

LeBron may prove to be the exception. He may be the next Michael. If so, more power to him. It might draw fans back to the game. Until then, I'll stick with the real basketball, the one with the season that ends the first week of April.

I know one thing, you can be as good as Lebron or MJ, but without support you can't do jack. shoot, I think Crosby's coming into the NHL at the right time...yes the medial will smother him like syrup on my pancakes, but he's got the luxury of learning from a Hall of Famer and an immediate attempt at surrounding him with a supporting cast, something Jordan lacked until Grant, Pippen, Armstrong and all them arrived (and that which Lebron still needs).

How can you compare Michael Vick to LeBron James?

If LeBron scores 20 points, he can also play defense and keep the other team from scoring 20.

If Vick scores 20, he has to sit on the sideline and hope to god that his defense can keep the other team from scoring 20.

'Sides, Vick can take his team to the playoffs.

Not only was the Hype! Machine underdeveloped, but MJ wasn't as developed physically as LeBron was when he left high school.

James is one of the top players in the NBA today. His numbers and athleticism compare favorably to Jordan's at a similar stage in his career.

You would have to be a red-eyed Bulls' homer not to see that.

But it doesn't matter how much attention James gets now. What will matter is history's judgment.

Be patient, bullsfan4life. To maintain the favorable comparisons, LJ's gonna need at least a fist full of championship rings. If he fails to win titles, the comparisons to MJ will fade.
