THe way I look at it time expired, the refs never stopped the clock they can not add time unless they have replay and there was no replay in this game, it was a total joke, and it was a complete screw job from the Pac 10 refs. I hope sobody knocks of the Trojans becuase if they win a 3rd straight with this in there then it will be confirmed the College Football is a joke and the refs can pick and choose who wins while fatass reporters vote on the National Title.

Let me correct you there, Tank. If you notice while the clock is ticking down after Leinart fumbles out of bounds, the sideline ref is signaling the play was out of bounds and for the clock to stop. If the man running the clock isn't a Notre Dame alumn, the clock stops at 7 seconds and USC still gets the final play off. The referees called it fair, so you can stop being bitter.

Time ran out because the clock operator tried to determine the outcome of the game by leaving it running, and the fact is, a ref did see the ball come out and did blow it dead but got lost in the crowd. So no this game wasnt a total joke, the Notre Dame clock operator is a total joke

Give this about a week. Youll go back and eventually youll be saying; "Why the fluff did i let my emotions spill out onto the board?" Trust me, because you cant honestly mean any of that stuff. The officials won the game for USC? It was a legit win through and through, no different than any other win theyve had lately just closer in score. And wishing ill on someone because he scored more points than your team? That seems like a pretty dumb reason to want someones career to end.

you're probably right.

The closest referee absolutely signalled the clock stopped, because the ball went out of bounds. The ref was right there, I saw it during the play.

I saw it too. The sideline judge CLEARLY signalled to stop the clock (not out of bounds as I previously stated). It was one of the first things I noticed. Hopefully replays on your local news telecast will show that.

I saw, I came, I left.

NBC never showed the ref signal the ball dead, if he did they would have shown it.

OK even then, it doesnt change the fact that the ball went out of bounds. The clock should have been stopped. If Carlos Beltran knocked one out off the Apple in center field at Shea and an ump called it foul, would that just be foul and there isnt anything they can do because there is no replay? No, you would want someone with some sense and no loyalty (Notre Dame Clock Operator shouldnt be the guy) to make the right call

I can tell you the sideline ref sure as hell wasn't giving the signal for the clock to continue running.

The signal for stopping the clock is waving your hands over your head I didnt see any refdoing taht and NBC never showed it on the replays.

That's because it happened a few seconds after the play, but just before the clock reached 0:00. The signal was not made immediately after the play.

I saw, I came, I left.

The ref pointed immediately to the spot where Leinart's forward progress was stopped, then immediately waved his arms above his head, the signal to stop the clock. That's the order which everything happened: Leinart was stopped, then fumbled out of bounds.

Then NBC did a horrendous job not showing that.

Did you ever stop to think that maybee in all the excitement, you did a horrendous job of watching for the ref to wave his arms?

I guess I missed the ref's signal, because I only saw the sideline judge. Replays were done in slow motion, and with the camera angles shown on the replays, I guess not many viewers would have caught the signal.

fatass reporters? Ok, I'm not going to go there. :D

The ball went out of bounce with time on the clock. It's very simple. The right call was made. End it at that.

Maybe Notre Dame should join a conference than?

One ref also signaled for touchdown. Correct call was made.

I should have been more specific. I meant the official on the sideline (most likely the Head Linesman), not the Referee.
