mfoster Posted January 30, 2006 Share Posted January 30, 2006 The IceBats/Longhorns won in a shootout. It's the only way you'll ever see the Longhorns defeat the Sooners on the ice. OU and saxeT both have club hockey programs. OU is ACHA D1 while Texas is ACHA D3. They played each other three seasons ago when OU was D2, and the Sooners won by a combined score of something like 36-1. I saw Texas' jerseys about 4-5 years ago and they were basic white and burnt orange with the plain longhorn logo. It looks like they use the arched lettering now...I'm not sure this jersey is in use (bleeach!): Oklahoma's jerseys are fairly plain as well:I'll get some (poor quality) images of the OU/OKC jerseys posted tonight as the link I have is at home. What I saw of them were similar to Habs road jerseys, with the crimson and white strips across the front, and what appeared to be black (YEECH, WROOOOONG!) across the middle where the blue would be. The logo was just a big giant O. As an alumnus I had no problems with the design other than the black.There seems to be some issue regarding the use of the Sooner Schooner at OU. Apparently, the rights are retained by the football team, but they don't use them. The trademark is held by the Board of Regents, so I'm not sure what sort of political issue this might be. The schooner is VERY under-utilized by the university in both uniforms and merchandise. I personally think the schooner should be used more, and that the benefit would be increased merchandise sales. Oklahoma is eventually going to take their hockey program to the NCAA D1 level, and the schooner would look good as the crest (though it might be a little KC Scouts-ish in design quality), while the interlocking OU should be relegated to the shoulder.Just my 2 cents... Marc I don't get it.So I'm new to linking images ..sorry I'm not on the computer 24/7 and not a pro at it in five seconds like a lot of our younger posters. I'm starting to figure it out, though. Guess I'm a complete loser. In my free time I eat some of the best Tex-Mex in the state, shoot pool with great friends and cute girls in a really beautiful city. In short I go outside a lot...I recommend it. It's not about being Sooner and Aggie fans. As for the Longhorns, good for them - they've now won one national title in my lifetime (to four for Oklahoma). If you were going to win in Dallas and in Pasadena, this year was it.
