Cowboys rant from another board

This is a complete rant, which means this will be pretty negative, and I love the Cowboys but this game is nothing but pathetic!

1. Bradie James - This guy is the most one dimensional defensive player in the NFL. He couldn't cover my grandmother and his reaction time to an underneath pass is non-existent. At this point in time I am not sure signing him to a long term deal was a smart move. I would rather move a guy like Carpenter inside because he's much more athletic and faster.

2. Spears and Canty - Whomever thinks these two are good DE's is just a homer. They are both just 'another guy'. Neither one has big play ability. When was the last time either one made a big play for this defense? I know they aren't supposed to have 10 sacks as a defensive end in a 3-4 defense, but they don't even have 10 QB pressures combined. That's pathetic in itself and add into the fact that they both have fallen off the face of the earth here down the stretch.

3. Ware just got hurt and I just launched a empty Smirnoff Twist off the wall. Will have to clean up that glass a little later.

4. Terrell Owens does not just drop passes, he drops 'game changing passes' time and time again. Maybe he should try and catch them with his big fat mouth because he might have more success.

5. The Eagles wanted this game more than the Cowboys. They are playing with more energy and with more discipline. You who I am blaming for that one? Bill Parcells. He's the head coach and it's about time he shows some damn spirit over there on the sideline instead of moping around like a beaten 65 year man who had his puppy taken away. Where's the guy who used to get in the face of his players all game and who used to show some emotion that got his players fired up. The guy we see now is an 'old football coach' who thinks his X and O's talk is enough to get the job done. Well it ain't and maybe it's about time sometime told him so.

6. Marco Rivera - What a waste of money this guy was. If he played half as well as he spits out his motivational speeches he would be an average player. Instead he gets tossed left and right time and time again. I would love to say that Flozell and his fat butt is the worst lineman on this team, but it's easily Rivera. He was a good fit in Green Bay becasue he could just line up and fire out and hit somebody. Ask him to move to the left or right and block somebody and he's lost. I don't even want to get into his pass blocking because that's getting worse and worse each week.

7. Tony Romo - He was playing ok. Then he gets the feeling like he has to save the day and fires one up into double coverage. He's a young QB and that was a young mistake. He just threw another pick but who cares at this point because the defense lost this game a long time ago.

8. Oliver Hoyte - Missed a block on the goalline and then got thrown to the side by Trent Cole who is about the same size as he is. I guess he's not the answer at FB after all.

9. Kevin Burnett, Pat Watkins, Miles Austin - Burnett is the one who let LJ Smith run by him and get that big pick up in the first half. Watkins is the one who may not even be on the roster next season because he has no confidence left. All you need to do to him is run a double move and your wide open. Please pick up a damn Free Safety already. This position has been a HUGE problem since Darren Woodson left and yet year after year I see freaking Keith Davis lining up out there. Miles Austin has now fumbled in three consecutive games. That's what gets a guy back on the practice squad because no matter how many times you get a good return on a kickoff it hurts the team tenfold when you cough it up.

10. Terrell Owens - Dropped another one. Good job big mouth. We signed this guy to beat the Eagles and now we lost to them twice this year when we beat them twice last year. ?????????????????????

11. The offensive line - They are the second main reason, first is this pathetic defense, we lost this game. Romo get sacked again on 4th down. Nice job Flozell. These guys never established any room to run the football in this game. The Eagles came in as the 28th ranked defense against the run and yet at no point in this game were the Cowboys able to line up and run the football. Hand your paychecks over to charity because you certainly didnt earn one penny of it in this game.

12. Offensive play calling - All these weapons and yet time and time again it's 2 and 9 or 3 and 8. Way too predictable.

13. Playoffs - I hate to say it, but with this defense falling apart like a wet napkin it looks like a one and done. Greg Ellis going down hurt the team. James is a liability in the pass defense. Zimmer has no idea to run a pressure style defense and I hope he gets a job somewhere else this offseason.

14. Toughness - There is none from this team. When the chips are on the table this team gets pushed around and then everyone sulks like the head coach. This game is one you have to win, not come out in front of a home crowd and get embarrassed. I am ashamed right now.

15. Coaching - This the third time in two weeks that this team was outcoached. Jerry Jones is not going to forget that when the season ends. I hear all this talk about Parcells coming back because of the renewed optimism since Romo is now set at QB, but the question may be does Jerry even want him back? This team falters down the stretch year after year. I am a big Bill Parcells fan, but when the guy is moping around when his team needs him to get them back involved in the game I begin to wonder if this game has worn him out. Does he still have the fire to be a Super Bowl winning coach these days? Right now I have no answer for that question.

16. Reality - Winning the division would have given us a home game which is about the only difference in getting as the wild card as opposed to winning the division. My point is that the way this team is playing at home would it really matter? Remember the games with the triplets where a big home game pretty much meant a win? This team is the complete opposite. They falter under pressure at home. Embarrassed by the Saints and Eagles at home in December is not acceptable. This is supposed to be the time of the year when your gaining momentum, not falling apart.

In closing. I am about 12 smirnoffs in right now and I about ready to start breaking more stuff including the Christmas Tree. That's coming down for sure as soon as I get off the computer, lol.

Thanks again to the Dallas Cowboys for ruining my Christmas.

i don't disagree with anyof it. I particularly enjoyed this line,

Thanks again to the Dallas Cowboys for ruining my Christmas

Just change out all of the names, and that rant could be filled in like a mad-lib and posted on nearly any board of any losing team in the NFL.

Anyone else shocked that T.O. somehow found a way to further disgust everyone? His comments after the game just officially made him my least favorite player in any sport. I used to like him because he was always the guy who talked madd :censored: but could back it up. But now he just looks like a whiney litte bitch.

Fu*kin :censored:.

Well I can clearly see that any Cowboy fan would be frustrated by today's game. They're clearly in a funk.

But... they're still not THAT bad.

Not that bad? Ok, in the last few weeks the Cowboys defeated the Falcons, which took an effort on Dallas' part even though the Falcons are awful this year. Atlanta has lost to the Lions and Browns (BROWNS! And at home!). The 'boys played the Saints and Eagles (both at home, and both times with high stakes) and had their a**es handed to them. So their performance does not bear out your assertion unless you're speaking relative to the rest of the NFC, which is a disgrace this year.

The ranter makes a good point about Parcells. This is not vintage Parcells at all; in fact, to see vintage Bill these days you have to look at the Saints' sideline. The thing you hear over and over from Saints players this year is "accountability." Sean Payton - who worked several years under Parcells - is not the biggest guy around so it's almost comical to see him chew an offensive lineman's a** after a false start or holding call, but he's always there waiting for guys who do stupid things with a nice :cursing:

My wife and I would talk about the Saints under Haslett and how guys like Aaron Brooks could stand on the sideline laughing and horsing around after throwing a pick with the Saints down 31-10. It was infuriating because it was like, hey, I'm getting my paycheck win or lose. Not with Payton - there are "consequences" for sloppy play as my wife likes to say.

BTW, a funny note from the local Atlanta paper. The Zoo just had a contest to name its baby panda. The names had to be in Chinese and the winner was "Mei Lan" which supposedly means "beauty of Atlanta" or some such. There's a feature in the paper called the "Vent" where people submit short rants and one recent one said: "Jim Mora's Zoo Atlanta Chinese name is 'Yue Gahn.'" :D

Thanks for the Philadelphia Eagles for making my Christmas all the better and thanks to the writer of the above rant for making my day after even better still. The E-A-G-L-E-S, Eagles back on top of the NFC East where they belong.

i actually couldn't stop laughing for 10 minutes after reading it. it was more for comic relief.

however in all seriousness there was an article in the Fort Worth Star Telegram written by Clarence Hill that is a pretty interesting read and telling of what is happening as of lately.

Another December dud

By CLARENCE E. HILL JR.

STAR-TELEGRAM STAFF WRITER

IRVING -- Owner Jerry Jones was as mad as he's been in some time.

Blame the Philadelphia Eagles and quarterback Jeff Garcia for being the grinches who possibly stole the Cowboys' NFC East title Monday.

But Jones' growing frustration, echoed by several players in the Cowboys locker room, goes deeper than the 23-7 Christmas Day setback before 62,839 shocked fans at Texas Stadium.

Jones admittedly sold out to make a Super Bowl run this year. That the Cowboys fell into a quarterback of the future with Tony Romo's sensational play only buoyed his belief that they could make a return to glory in what could be Bill Parcells' final season as coach.

To watch his team be "non-competitive" with so much on the line was stunning, Jones said.

"I'm as disgusted as I've been in years. A game like this indicts us at the top, " Jones said.

The Cowboys (9-6) are still playoff bound and have a chance to win the division. They need to beat the Detroit Lions on Sunday and have the Eagles (9-6), who own the tie breaker because of two victories over the Cowboys, lose to the Atlanta Falcons.

A disappointed Parcells said his team has time to regroup and decide its fate, which would be as a fifth-seed wild-card team playing at Seattle if the playoffs started today.

"I told the team they could either be judged by this game or they could come back next week and have a chance to compete for a championship," Parcells said.

That the Cowboys remain in contention is without question. However, being non-competitive in a game in which they could clinch the NFC East, while also keeping hopes alive for a No. 2 seed in the NFC and a home playoff game, has Jones wondering aloud whether his Super Bowl dreams are legitimate.

Not only are the Cowboys headed to the playoffs without momentum, but they have been blown out twice at home in December. A 42-17 loss to New Orleans preceded last week's 38-28 victory at Atlanta.

"That's why it's numbing," Jones said. "I thought this could jell for us right now and we could have a team that is hitting its stride. Tonight was about the total organization."

The Cowboys are 7-11 since 2003 in games played in December and beyond.

Romo endured his worst game since taking over for Drew Bledsoe on Oct. 29, completing 14 of 29 passes for 142 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. It was the first time all season the Cowboys didn't score at least 17 points. They also recorded 201 yards of offense, a season low by 119 yards.

Jones said the loss was not about Romo, but about the inability of the Cowboys' supporting cast to come through when it counted. Parcells blamed a lack of preparation, poor coaching and young players not ready for a big game.

Receiver Terrell Owens caught two passes for 23 yards, none in the second half. He had two dropped passes, giving him a league-high 14.

A fourth-and-goal at the 1-yard line was foiled by a missed block by rookie fullback Oliver Hoyte.

A 65-yard catch and run by tight end L.J. Smith against the Cowboys' blitz in the third quarter also was blamed on inexperience.

The Cowboys have given up 93 points in the past three games combined. It was also the fourth consecutive game the Cowboys allowed more than 375 yards, including a season-high 204 yards rushing to the Eagles.

Garcia passed for 238 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 43 yards. Running back Brian Westbrook added 122 yards as the Eagles scored on four of their first five drives.

They also converted nine of 16 third-down chances.

"I am embarrassed," cornerback Terence Newman said. "If we play [like this], we might as well hang it up and don't even play in the playoffs."

the most telling is this:

Parcells blamed a lack of preparation, poor coaching and young players not ready for a big game

this is not the parcells that took the giants to the super bowl twice, the patriots to the super bowl and the jets to the AFC title game.

i dont' think the problem is inexperience or talent, because they are as good as anyone if not better than what they have been of lately. I really believe the problem is coaching and preperation.

which leads to this:

But Jones' growing frustration, echoed by several players in the Cowboys locker room, goes deeper than the 23-7 Christmas Day setback before 62,839 shocked fans at Texas Stadium

which is pretty interesting. It looks like there is something bubbling underneath and i think the distemper is with BP.

Does anybody realize the Saints got a first round bye, and with 1 home playoff win will be in the NFC Championship.

Does anyone else realize that the NFC Championship could potentially be the Saints vs the Bears? And the AFC game could be the Chargers and the Ravens? Talk about parody. Those are all teams that have been doormats most of my life.

That was awesome. I almost choked on some biscuit laughing at that.

But yeah, Cowboy fans should not be complaining, at least they're in a good situation for the playoffs. The people that should be complaining are Falcon fans, and anybody in the NFC that isn't in the playoff hunt. We're complaining because

1) Atlanta has talent out the wazoo. And yet we are looking 7-9 right in the eye. WTF.

2) Jim Mora still has his job after the Carolina debacle. That Carolina game was the worst game I have ever witnessed personally in my life. Carolina ran a high school offense, their RBs ran more QB than Weinke himself did, and yet we got dominated. Unreal.

3) ...once again, Jim Mora still has a job. Unreal.

So yeah, as long as Mora is coach, we will SUCK. Hopefully that won't be much longer.

A Bears-Saints or Chargers-Ravens match up sure doesn't sound like an amusingly exaggerated imitation of the style of a writer, artist, or genre to me...

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

the Bears started going bad during the early 90s but was a powerhouse in the 80s. The chargers had that run during the Stan Humphries era and actually did make it to the super bowl. The ravens aren't too far removed from the Super Bowl win of a few years ago. THe only ones that have been like a cheap doormat in the domestics dept at WM is the Saints. I fully expect them to win the super bowl. the cowboys sure the hell aren't, i fully expect them to be blown out by the Eagles/Seahawks.

Cowboys fans drink Smirnoff Twist, eh?

Pussies.

no no, Smirnoff Twist loaded with a shot of every alcoholic spirit in Grandpa Carmichaels liquer cabinent.

you'll need it too if you had to endure a decades worth of failure by the Isles thanks to the village idiot in charge.
