Mac the Knife
Double post and I like that unique font. All teams should have unique fonts. You will continue to see nothing but unique fonts - but not for reasons of asthetics. Somebody discovered that you cannot copyright a block font, so sports leagues have gotten into designing unique fonts for their teams which can be copyrighted and controlled. This way, nobody else can copy a team's "identity" without being subject to a lawsuit or paying a licensing fee to the league. It also allows the league to limit customization to those customizers who are licensed (read: pay a fee to) the league. It also doesn't hurt when old farts like me buy throwbacks at $300 a pop because the team ****ed up its look by switching numeral fonts. Yes, I'm talking about you, Pittsburgh Steelers.
Mac the Knife
Anyone else see this and think CFL Birmingham Barracudas, just for a split-second?
Claystation360
Well not to say I don't like those , But everyone around town in a common opinion started to think they were getting pretty bland . When Coughlin was here up until his last season it was just all whites during september on the road and at home and the getting midway into october we would see teal for the first time at home . But the White pants were all the time and kinda got boring after a while when you just have 2 options and we felt were being left behind when alot of teams around the league that were updating theirs or added throwback and 3rd jerseys . The Black pants were a major upgrade and added some contrast to the uniform along with the numbers going black .Im not saying they can't every go back but right now and with the kind of team this is the uniforms fits this team well . #DTWD #GoJaguars
Sodboy13
Anyone else see this and think CFL Birmingham Barracudas, just for a split-second?Actually, I kinda thought of the Cougars from "Playmakers." I'm sure the Champion numbers have something to do with that. bigdub81
Not knockin' you Neo, but I think I can bring this helmet concept to life a bit better! Here is their current all black helmet with their original leaping jaguar logo that was shelved for legal reasons on the left and on the right what they currently wear now.IMO: Either of the two look's nice! If I had to pick it would come down to a hard decision to choose their current logo over their original simply because it brings in all of their colors rather than a solid all black shell and mask with a solid gold jaguar. I tried flipping the white outline of their original logo to teal to bring it into the mix but it was too dark of a color paired against the black of the helmet itsself, it would be hard to tell the difference of the two.The helmet on the left was just something that I wanted to see for look's being that the Jag's, would be the only team "I believe" with any type of green helmet currently in the league. I don't care for the one on the right for two reasons, (1) It look's too much like my Saints, in color...let us and Frisco', be the only golden shell's! and (2) The logo being as it is a face primarily gold in color, it get's lost against a helmet color of the same. It work's perfectly for what they have now being that they don't have the logo outlined to show it's position, the black in their logo lend's itsself to the helmet for a solid look! But in this case if it were an option in the future....I would take the teal helmet for a change of pace but hey that's just me! I'm not diggin' the fact that people have to jump to another tab to view the original image! Go back to the original way of showing art Chris! Joshawaggie
I don't think I'll ever understand what's so bad about the Jags' current helmets.I'm with you, Kevin. I think the Jaguars' helmets are the best in the NFL, along with those of the Seattle Seahawks.Agreed, agreed. @josh_j12 CFA- Fargo Bobcats
powersurge
Even after seeing the leaping Jaguar on a black helmet, and sleeping on that one for a night...I still prefer the current helmet over that one.It just seems to work, and as someone else mentioned; it incorporates the teal color that just isn't present in the proposed black and gold leaping kitty version. reppact
There's this league called the AFL (and AFL2) that may just appeal to your aesthetic sensibilities.Actually ever since Russell Athletic became the uni provider for the AFL, all AFL teams have lost their "independence" when it came to numbers. All teams sport the same bland blocky numbers. af2 I think still has that choice by team. I'll admit I miss the days of the Anaheim Piranhas bite mark numbers or the Preds claw marked numbers. It sucks when a manufacturer seems to only have one number font available to an entire league.I too kinda miss the unique number font for the Crush up until RA took over. powersurge
I don't understand why the AFL gets such a bad rap. Some of there uniforms and helmets leave little to be desired, but many of their designs are very interesting and actually quite nice looking. Claystation360
I wonder how the Jaguars would look now with the unforms they have now with Sliver as a major color. #DTWD #GoJaguars
