capn89 Posted November 8, 2008 Author Share Posted November 8, 2008 ADDED:MONTREALDETROITDALLASCOLORADOCOLUMBUSStarting with the Canadiens------------------------------------------------Montreal's Evolution1st GEN -- 2nd GEN -- 3rd GEN -- 4th GEN -- RANDOM------------------------------------------------Like many of my concepts, the designs for the Canadiens have gone from ridiculously over the top to somewhat simpler and streamlined. Between the 3rd and 4th GENERATIONS the underarm and side design slimmed down quite a bit, as well as altered in its curvature.In the most recent (4th GEN) I couldn't decide if I wanted the alternate "old school design" to go full on old school or blueberry. I tried incorporating different shades of grey as well as black all the way up until the most recent incarnation of the team where I decided to restrict myself to JUST red & white.With the 4th GENERATION jerseys I tried to modernize my original designs as well give a mix of old time hockey and modern design into the alternate. capn89 Posted November 8, 2008 Author Share Posted November 8, 2008 DALLAS is next------------------------------------------------Dallas' Evolution1st GEN -- 2nd GEN -- 3rd GEN------------------------------------------------From flasy to simplistic, the Stars have seen a drastic change in not just design, but colors.I never realized until I began work on the latest Dallas Stars set (just a few days ago) that for all these years I'd been using a ridiculously inaccurate gold/yellow color on the Stars' concepts. Now, having colors more closely resembling the Stars, and with the team seeming to stray away from green, I decided to give the team a classic look for their Home & Road while resurrecting an old design for the Alternate. capn89 Posted November 8, 2008 Author Share Posted November 8, 2008 Here is COLORADO------------------------------------------------Colorado's Evolution1st GEN -- 2nd GEN -- 3rd GEN -- RANDOM------------------------------------------------The Avalanche have never really had "traditional" designs (save for their third from a few years back) so I didn't want to get too far away from their uniqueness in both designs and colors. Although the most recent GENERATION is the tamest of them all, I still think (save for the Alternate) they keep a bit of "out there" charm.I had the damnedest time being content with the way this set looked when using the brighter Avalanche blue color (due much in part to not wanting to have smurfy-pants), so after some thought I decided to give the 'Lanche a darker blue color and I must say I'm quite pleased with the way the set turned out.As you can see in the following image, the original 3rd GENERATION away jersey was an exact mirror opposite of the home, but given that Colorado is unique with it's use of burgundy I made another away jersey with more use of the color. I brought back the old CBJ logo, recolored, and put it to good use.My original 3rd GEN Alternate design was red (see below), but couldn't get past the idea of giving a team called the BLUE Jackets a RED uniform. I have to be honest with you, I'm in love with the 5th Gen Capitals Alternate. Well I haven't started any work on a current Penguins set, but hopefully it won't come out like crap.
