TBGKon
I agree that Cincinnati is all but a given to create a tandem in that pocket of the world with W Va. Houston makes sense, but I get the feeling that if you're only adding the Ohio market in this expansion since you already own Texas, the possibility of gaining the Florida market by taking Central and South Florida as 13 & 14 would add to the deal. DFW Metroplex is full of Texas Exs and other Big XII grads besides TCU
TBGKon
I am really feeling like this expansion may be the beginning of the conversion of the Longhorn Network to Big XII Network or something in that direction. Texas and possibly Oklahoma could receive concessions in the new deal, and if I was Cincy, Houston and any other remaining candidate I would offer to take less $$$ for a set period of time. That decreased amount would still most likely be more of a cut than the current cuts in The American.
dfwabel
Big XII 3rd tier rights are split up between at least four different media companies (ESPN, FOX, MediaCom, IMG) over the long term. Each of those need to be resolved.

Rutgers and Maryland take less from the Big Ten for a set amount of time before getting a full share. That's why the ACC bumped up their exit fees to keep from losing teams to the Big Ten and Big XII. dfwabel
Seems that Dr. Boren has changed his mind. Quote It appears now that Boren has come full circle on his expansion beliefs, adding another layer of uncertainty to the already muddled Big 12 expansion exploration process. Interviews with multiple sources around the Big 12 in the past week revealed a belief around the league that Boren has reversed course on his view of expansion. Boren had always been thought to favor BYU, but adding the Cougars still appears untenable because of the potential furor over their "honor code", which deems "homosexual behavior" as a violation. http://www.campusrush.com/big-12-expansion-oklahoma-sooners-texas-longhorns-david-boren-2018459914.html Dr. Boren to ESPN's Jake Trotter: Quote "I do not know where the speculation came from, but Oklahoma has not yet taken a position on expansion." dfwabel
T. Boone went after Boren like anti-fracking families go after him. http://www.mystatesman.com/news/sports/bohls-osus-pickens-disses-boren-gundy-formula-1-is/nsgN8/ Quote . T. Boone Pickens said he likes the current 10-team Big 12 configuration the way it is and would prefer adding Houston and SMU if the league grows, but that’s “probably unlikely.” The Oklahoma State benefactor said on our “On Second Thought” podcast that Oklahoma president David Boren has been wishy-washy about expansion and that “maybe it’s time for David to retire.” Some outlets reported Tuesday that the mercurial Boren is saying he’s decided against expansion, but Boren clarified his stance, saying “Oklahoma has not yet taken a position on expansion.” Pickens, who has given $500 million to his alma mater, said, “I’ve known David forever. He likes to talk. He gets a little bit confused sometimes.”
dfwabel
Big XII doesn't seem interested in extending Grant of Rights past 2025. There wouldn't be any reason to do it right now." Doomed.

LMU
Let's just repeat the 90s and have the bigger Big XII and AAC teams break off and form the Big XXIV. Then the remnants can scrape together and form the 'Murica Conference or something.
