Cujo
Not only is the work totally ripped-off, it's about as generic as they come. I would expect something like this out of a local softball team, but not a professional baseball squad. I hope they didnt pay more than five bucks for this beaut! Sodboy13
The use of the hanging socks as the two "L"s in the road script is actually fairly clever. Doesn't make it any less of a trademark infringement, though. Lee.
Amarillo is this year's Lake County. This is beautiful, beautiful stuff. Not the identity, the situation. Also, this:Lee (not me, Mark Lee) said neither the logo nor the name Amarillo Sox is trademarked, despite the presence of a "TM" on the logo suggesting otherwise.Lee said the "TM" will be removed.Johnson said he and Lee had discussed trademarking the Sox logo before Wednesday's news conference."We wanted to make sure there weren't any thieves out there that would take our property," Johnson said.Shine on, you crazy ballclub. WSU151
Looks like MLB is taking notehttp://bit.ly/hFPBybThe best part of that article is the reader comments section. I'm willing to bet 99% of those Amarilloans who posted on that article have never heard of the term "trademark infrigement". Then again, I'm amazed they know how to use the internet. But I love this gem:"one logo says SOX, the other says TWINS, doesnt look the same to me, idiots" Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.
thinkkre8tiv
Sad thing is that I live in the same town as these idiots and was excited about baseball coming back again. However I could not stand by and let someone that I called a friend do this to bring shame to our town. Burmy
And apparently the Twins are OK with it...http://amarillo.com/sports/local-pro-sports/2011-01-07/minnesota-twins-fine-amarillo-sox-logoCome to think of it, it's generic as they come...why no socks on any of the logos? Now, if they started using an "RC" cap (Rotor City is a nickname), then I bet the Twins would challenge it!
