2011 NFL Mock Draft

Well, they aren't my team, but when I'm in town, I have gone to a couple of their games and have family down there, so this is me commenting about their situation.

I know that Larry's demanding to have an actual quarterback give him the ball, and I don't blame him one bit. My issue stems from the fact that Ken Whisenhunt is wasting draft picks on quarterbacks who he has no interest in developing at this point. They should be going to (as you mentioned) the offensive line, tight end, defensive line, and linebacker.

I too think that Russ Grimm is doing a great job with what he has to work with, and would probably be more effective as their head coach, honestly.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Cardinals drafted a QB AND got a veteran in there. Unless they trade for Kevin Kolb, I can see them getting a Bulger or McNabb, and then drafting Gabbert or waiting until Round 2 to pick up Locker if he slips that far.

If they get Kolb, then they have both their QB of the Moment and of the Future.

See, that's my point. What in the hell are they going to get for Max Hall and John Skelton? The Raiders and Lions aren't stupid enough anymore to give up draft picks for them. The Cardinals are a mess, and no thought was put into the quarterback position or how it could affect their lack of talent and depth at other positions. Plus, I'm not sold on a Bidwill actually "attempting" to purchase a decent quarterback through free agency.

I never said they need to pass on someone like Kevin Kolb. In fact, I hope they pick him up, instead of watching a phenomenal talent like Larry Fitzgerald languish in the desert. But it's the wasted draft picks that drive me nuts, especially after drafting two quarterbacks previously. No one seems to get that, and besides even if you think you can pick up someone as a future star through the draft, what can they get for the other two quarterbacks, realistically-speaking. A couple of late rounders, a potential trade to perhaps pick up an unheralded lineman or two?

Reason why they are or going to be future career backups in the NFL. Skelton may have a chance, but in order for the Cardinals to win now, they must go after a Kolb type now that will help them win. It's not Wisenhunt that caused them to lose last year, although he did not help the case by choosing Anderson. I do give him the benefit of a doubt because remember you say it was Warner and Fitzgerald, but the one calling the game is the Head Coach and he has final say who goes out there. If it weren't for Wisenhunt, you wouldn't have Grimm and the rest of the staff afterwards. But it wouldn't have mattered anyway because the Cardinals were screwed at QB in the first place. Quarterbacks were the weakest point last year and when you have no QB to captain the offense it made it more difficult to get the ball out. Will Skelton or Hall help them win in the next year or so? Will this help Fitzgerald get that deal he wants? Not with to unproven Quarterbacks this year. They were never supposed to be "the answer", they were supposed to be backups and a practice dummy for the 1st team. So to call them "wasted" is about laughable because they're not. They get a veteran out there, the team can do much better than what the Cards had last year.

You just cut your losses and cut them (or at least one and keep the other for emergencies). NFL teams do this from time to time-It's not like they whiffed on a 1st or 2nd rounder.

I have some serious ranking issues with that mock... explain to me why:

1) You have Ryan Williams going before Mark Ingram?

2) You have Daquan Bowers, who may need microfracture surgery, and Bruce Carter, who just had microfracture surgery, going before Robert Quinn?

3) You have Anthony Costanzo going Top 10 and Tyron Smith dropping into the 20s?

Especially the fact Ryan Williams isn't going in the first round, he's projected in the 2nd-3rd round. And I just don't see Constanzo being drafted by the Cowboys when everyone is saying that Tyron Smith is on top of their draft list.

Not only that, you have the Rams taking a guy who wouldn't start next year due to the presence of one Steven Jackson. You don't burn 1st Round money on a backup.

Well, the Bengals tried that in 2005 or 2004 with Chris Perry (to be a backup to Rudi Johnson), although it was later in the first round. But I guess we all know how that worked out.

I'm hoping the Panthers do NOT pick Newton, if they do I will be the unhappiest Panther fan ever. Anyways, tomorrow will be a very stressful day, lol.
