Favorite Sports Days

Recommended Posts

-Memorial Day weekend- Monaco Grand Prix and Indianapolis 500

-Auburn football home opener

-New Year's Day- Winter Classic as well as the beginning of decent CFB bowl games

-Conference Championship day in the NFL- all the glory of playoff football without the bad parts of the Super Bowl (even more commercials than usual, bad halftime shows...)

Least favorite day:

-Iron Bowl Saturday- this day makes everyone in the state even more obnoxious about college football.

Yes, I root for teams all over the place. And I apparently favor birds.

The only day I really look forward to every year is baseball's Opening Day. Baseball has always been my favorite sport. And when I was a kid, I always looked forward to it since it was the first sign that the school year was almost over. I don't have to worry about that anymore, but it's still my favorite day of the year.

MLB

Opening Day

4th of July

Game One of the World Series (No matter who's in it, even if I hate the two teams to the point where I won't watch (only happened once), I have to at least watch game 1)

NFL

Super Bowl Sunday

NFL Draft

College FB

January 1st/Rose Bowl Day

College BB

The final minute of the championship game

If I may ask, which teams were in it that one year?

I'd wager a guess and say it was the 2009 Phillies/Yankees matchup.

Everyone who isn't a Yankees fan hates the Yankees, and the Phillies were in the middle of their great run of NL dominance, which only reminded everyone to hate Philadelphia sports again.

That what I was thinking.

Close, and I did hardly watch that series, but nothing was worse than Marlins Yankees in 03. The way both of those two teams got there just made me want to puke. Add that to the fact that the Marlins had just beat my Giants, compiled on the huge choke job the Giants pulled the year before, I just couldn't handle watching the World Series that year. I actually listened to that game on the radio because I was coming home from I think a Niners game. I basically forgot about the World Series after that and turned on SportsCenter a few nights later to see Jack MacKeon smoking a big Ol stogey and was actually surprised that I just straight neglected the series that year, as I'm a HUGE baseball fan, but didn't feel bad at all.

Correct, the Niners played the Bucs that weekend. In the end, I did root for the Marlins because in the end I can't stand the Yankees.

Yup. I mean, everyone outside of the Yankees and Marlins fanbases wanted to see the Red Sox and Cubs meet. And they didn't. Neither of them made it. So it doesn't surprise me that a lot of people had an unpleasant taste in their mouths entering that series.
