lbr218
Couple of small schools I'm applying toCase Western Reserve Spartans (Cleveland)Carleton Knights (15 min. outside of the twin cities)Macalester Scots (St. Paul)I applied to Mac (I hear the response by April 1). At one point it was my first choice, but since the economy took a downturn, we can't afford it anymore. I loved it when I visited it though. Definitely the best college visit I've had (and I've been on over 20). leggman01
Designed by a member of these here boards.this one, too - skye dillon did these (most have probably already seen these, but i thought i'd post them anyway)there are so many small schools that just don't realize what a HUGE impact a strong identity has on a campus community (not to mention the increased merchandise sales, which have more than recouped the investment the university made...of course, we got skye before he went big-time...probably couldn't afford him now )...mu is approaching the 2nd anniversary of this logo set, and it's everywhere on campus and looks great

Brian in Boston
Why is the US Coast Guard Academy called the "Bears"? One would think that with all the appropriate nautical imagery they would have come up with something better. I mean Air Force = Falcons, Navy = Midshipmen (ram mascot), Army =Cadets/Black Knights (mule mascot), and Coast Guard is the BEARS?The United States Coast Guard Academy's athletic teams are named in honor of the U.S. Revenue Cutter Bear, a rescue vessel, polar exploration vessel and Arctic patrol ship that served the United States government for nearly 60 years. In 1897, the USRC Bear engaged in what many consider her most dramatic mission, the rescue of eight whaling ships and 265 men trapped in the ice north of Point Barrow, Alaska. Joshawaggie
Concordia Cobbers in Moorhead, MNThat's 'corny'!Is that the Bears 'c'?Yup. The football helmets use that. Gold shell (more of a mustardy yellow gold), maroon c. The 'C' is what's used most often. I've rarely seen the Cobber guy used anywhere. @josh_j12 CFA- Fargo Bobcats
