Hopefully Joel got the point across, even if he ruffled some feathers in doing so. That point being, that we all get tired of people telling us that certain big news is already being discussed in the 112 page thread across the street. Or that we all have missed an unveiling of some sort because we don't follow all those threads on a day-to-day page-to-page basis.

That said, we understand there's a value to the everyday regular season discussion. So if you want to have regular season threads, that's fine. But major news is to be posted in its own thread. That will (1) keep the day-to-day discussion uninterrupted, and (2) make the discussion accessible to those who do not follow the regular season threads.

As for logo and uniform changes, ALL UNVEILINGS DESERVE THEIR OWN THREAD. It's one thing to have a thread figuring out upcoming or recapping changes, but once an actual unveiling occurs (or is about to occur), it should be posted in a new thread.

I think that's simple enough and fair enough. Any questions or complaints will promptly be ignored. (I'm kidding. Just post them.)

(I'll sticky this later, but for now I'm gonna let it bounce around the top of the boards.)

Awesome.

Now that's change we can believe in.

That's what really annoyed me. There'd be a topic that really deserved its own thread, people would be discussing the topic, and then someone would come in and be like "ABD, ALREADY BEEN DISCUSSED" and link to the official thread. Is it really that serious?

I've got no problem with the official threads...hell, I started the NBA one. But if something deserves its own topic, it should be started.

So I said all that to say this: I agree.

Something about "best-laid plans" comes to mind, for whatever reason.

Maybe fiasco! should be less subtle next time. :P

I casually follow the "official" threads, but if I'm gone from the boards for more than a day I've got multiple pages to sift through. And if there's a topic that has gone by the wayside that I'd still like to discuss, it's kind of weird to derail the current discussion to talk about something three or four pages back.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, like my fellow CCSLCer TFoA, I'm down with this change.

"In the arena of logic, I fight unarmed."

I tweet & tumble.

I personally think the old system was way better. For example, its WAY more conveniant to look up full unveilings, such as this season's MLB unveilings, in one thread. Could you even imagine the nightmare that would've been the Edge unveilings had each team's unveiling had it's own thread?

This is fair, and I will go along with it.

I respect your opinion, but disagree 100% with it.

I personally hated that Edge thread.

Thats fine, and I'm most certainly open to trying this new system, but I have a feeling it's gonna have a bumpy beginning.

They got merged, not deleted. Just start new ones for the regular seasons.

And Joel, you're no-nonsense guts kick the crap out of my "eloquence".

Anyways, I'm pretty sure the EDGE unveilings were what started this whole thing. And while I think it was OK for that because every team was going to be at least slightly different (even if that only meant seeing how some teams adapted their classic look to the new cut), so yes, it was a good way to avoid 30 simultaneous threads.

But that doesn't happen very often, and I never remember being bothered about too many threads in the Pre-EDGE days.

Part of the problem is that some people seem to get an "ego trip" from being the ones to start the new "super" threads. They seem to be started earlier and earlier for each sport. It's even transcended to the wrestling threads in the Lounge, where someone started a thread for a new PPV before the current one even happened. I'll never understand the need to be "first". I guess it's like some people want that feeling like "wow - 100+ pages in my thread! I r0xx0rz!!!"

I somehow missed something on this whole thing. So is this why I can't find any threads on college football or the NHL?

It's just as well as they are in the graveyard. You made quite a fool of yourself in the football ones.

Why would you delete an NHL thread in the middle of the season? Oh and to the joker who said that I made quite a fool of myself in the football thread. The next time you call someone a fool, take a look at the team you root for.
