  1. Crazy to think someone would use that as part of their marketing in 2022.
  2. Thumbs down to both. I don't know how fast steamboats actually traveled, but the last thing I think about when I see one is the boat flying down the river like a cigarette boat. The last thing this logo needs to do is try to emphasize speed.
  3. It didn't like the purple pants at first, but they have grown on me. That said, I like the white pants much better . . . as long as they aren't worn with "icy" white socks.
  4. This would be a pretty big deal. It would be the first time a Power 5 conference added a non-football school. I know Notre Dame isn't a member of the ACC for football (2020 excluded). However, they at least play FBS football as an independent and are also contractually obligated to play five games per year against ACC schools. Gonzaga literally adds nothing from a football perspective.
  5. Based on some of 'red's previous posts, I was sure this was going to be at least Top 3. I would have preferred the Ravens in their white pants, but this still looked good to me.
  6. This looks really good in a vacuum and better matches the numbers. That said, because I'm so used to the actual uniforms, it comes off as a little busy to me. . . . and I say this as someone who loved the Jaguars uniforms that used a similar striping pattern. I'm assuming she has these in mind.
  7. Cionel Perez often wore an orange belt this season. I don't recall anyone else on the Orioles wearing one. I don't remember when he started (or when I first noticed it), but there are also a lot of pictures on the web of him wearing a black belt like the rest of the team.
  8. New "spirit mark" for South Carolina, which is particularly relevant to me since my daughter is a freshman there. https://www.wltx.com/article/news/education/university-of-south-carolina-reclaims-usc-name/101-82734c68-bf02-471f-bfe9-ffab08b87ec7 The "spirit logo" is on the bottom left and on the swag. The retired UofSC logo is below.
  9. This is similar to what the PBA did on the Saturday bowling tournaments back when I was a wee lad. Five bowlers qualified for the Saturday slot. It was 5 vs. 4 with the winner playing 3 and so on, with No. 1 waiting in the final.
  10. My proposed change. Long leases are necessary to make sure municipalities/owners are willing to invest in construction. The Rays lease isn't bad because it's long. It's bad because it's onerous, the stadium is terrible, and it appears to have no escape clause for the Rays. On the other hand, the Orioles and Ravens each have $600MM waiting for stadium upgrades if they sign long term leases/extensions. That is pretty good trade off.
  11. That would have changed my game completely.
  12. What?!?!?! The offense may throw the ball, but once it's in the air, everyone has an equal right to catch it. That's part of the risk/reward equation of passing the ball. Under your rule, someone built like Rob Gronkowski could just shove a defender to the ground and make a catch unimpeded on just about every play. That's ridiculous. Out of curiosity, would you apply the same rule to basketball? Could an offensive player just shove players out of the way on the way to the basket since it's his damn ball?
  13. I got sucked in by the retro packaging when I was in college and tried this stuff once . . . .once!
  14. I was there. It was like 5 innings of slow pitch softball.
  15. I second this wholeheartedly. The silver helmet with the blue star is such an ingrained part of the Cowboys image that it just feels completely wrong to do away with it . . . even for 1-2 games per year.
  16. I agree with this. It basically looked like a scrimmage, but it was the Cardinals who decided to wear black helmets and black jerseys against a team with black helmets and black pants.
  17. I was born in 1967, but I can honestly say that I have no recollection of him calling NFL games.
  18. My daughter is a Dunkin regular and rarely, if ever, get donuts. It's all about coffee and breakfast sandwiches. I was in the local Dunkin a few weeks ago and was suddenly taken aback by how few donut varieties they had. If memory serves me, the only choices were glazed, chocolate frosted (with sprinkles and without), strawberry frosted (with sprinkles and without), Boston Creme, chocolate cake, blueberry cake and maybe one other. I never knew Dunkin had a reputation as a coffee place until I had to visit a construction project in Methuen, MA in about 2000. The project manager made two Dunkin runs for the crew before 10:30 . . . and not a single donut was purchased. ON TOPIC -- I'll second the "good idea, poor execution" sentiment. This could have been done much better.
  19. No guarantees even then. I got a nice strawberry on my hip about five days before my wedding trying to make a catch in the outfield (on dried out grass that hadn't seen rain in about three weeks).
  20. So, Benjamin Harrison was POTUS the last time a team had a nine game winning the streak after losing 110 games the previous season. The List -- 1890 Louisville Colonels 2022 Baltimore Orioles
