  1. We could realistically see the Lizards brand return as the league grows. Atlas represent the entire state of New York as far as I can tell from PLL's hype material. Years from now down the line, Atlas could settle in Albany while the league brings in a new Lizards team in Long Island.
  2. Have a feeling placing teams in cities was rushed to next season, and the PLL may have already had some tour sites reserved for 2024.
  3. In the state of the league video, Paul Rabil specifically pointed out NC State and the Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL in regards to them wearing red. They may plan on giving the team a significant presence in the Raleigh area. They may have more than one home within in NC. They likely went with Maryland over Baltimore in an attempt to keep fans in the DC metro counties of Maryland on board. I know many people in that part of the state that don't support the Ravens or Orioles simply because they don't view them as their local teams (which is true geographically speaking). Some of those same people did not support the Baywhawks when they had Baltimore as the market name. Have a feeling the Whipsnakes will play in Annapolis like the Baywhawks ultimately did.
  4. They'll probably play in Annapolis. The team wasn't named Baltimore for a reason. They don't want to distance themselves from fans in the DC metro counties of Maryland. The Bayhawks ultimately settled in Annapolis after several attempts in the DC and Baltimore areas (including Homewood).
  5. Carolina Chaos: Overall the branding is improved from the previous years. Kind of digging the scorpion tail C. Denver Outlaws: Solid. No complaints. Will miss the Chrome logo though. Utah Archers: I like the arrowhead on it's own and the state as the negative space in the A's of the word marks. Not wild about the rest of the branding. California Redwoods: I like everything about this rebrand. Especially it appears they've gotten away from that highlighter shade of yellow to a more "athletic gold" shade. Philly Waterdogs: Still the worst name in the league. At least the new dog looks better. Not impressed overall. Maryland Whipsnakes: Let me start off by saying I will miss the Whips original colors. With that said, Maryland is my home state so going with the state's color is a very easy pill to swallow (sidenote, also the colors of my high school alma mater). I really like the M secondary logo. They could have done a lot more to differentiate the tertiary roundel from the Orioles roundel, or even not included it as part of the package. New York Atlas: The new bull logo looks worse than the original. Serious downgrade there. I like the NY logo though Boston Cannons: Solid, no complaints.
  6. I'm a homer when it comes to sports. I supported the Bayhawks in MLL because they were the team closest to home, but that name sucked. A ripoff of the Seattle Seahawks branding. With the Whipsnakes being the PLL's first champion, there was no way they would allow that club to change it's name. Plus with it's heavy link to the University of Maryland there was pretty much only 3 places they'd realistically place them. Annapolis, Baltimore or DC. Whipsnakes to Maryland was inevitable.
  7. I thought the PLL would've put 3 teams in the northeast (Boston, New York and somewhere between Philly and DC). Four northeast teams was a surprise. It appears they have most of the major northeast hotbeds of LAX covered. I figured if any southeast location were to come into the league it would be Charlotte. It's very northeast-ish. I assumed the Carolina Chaos covers that. (Are the scorpions in the Carolinas? lol) Redwoods to California was a no brainer. Surprised to see both Denver and Salt Lake City get a team. Figured one would be part of the initial 8 cities then the other would come years later in expansion. I guess no teams in the middle part of the country was a surprise. Figured Texas and Minnesota impressed the league enough the last couple of tours to get one of the eight spots. I'll give my thoughts on the new logos in the appropriate thread for that.
  8. So there is a new D2 bowl game. Johnson C. Smith and Fort Valley State will play in the first Florida Beach Bowl. https://hbcusports.com/2023/11/13/johnson-c-smith-fort-valley-state-to-headline-inaugural-florida-beach-bowl
  9. Posted on PLL socials earlier today,
  10. Watched most of the USL Championship Final. It's good to see a team with the same colors as my high school alma mater win. Congrats to Phoenix Rising!
  11. In D2 I have my fingers crossed for Virginia Union, Shepherd and Benedict. In D3 I'll be supporting Johns Hopkins and Christopher Newport.
  12. Believe it or not there is college football outside the FBS. A place to give these teams some recognition. Here is the NCAA Division 3 bracket. https://www.ncaa.com/brackets/football/d3/2023 And here is Division 2's bracket. https://www.ncaa.com/brackets/football/d2/2023
  13. I'd be okay with the all grays becoming a permanent road alternate for Ohio State. Would look a lot better if they other team wasn't wearing white jerseys. In addition to that, like someone else mentioned adding a second black outline to the numbers could be a nice touch. So the numbers would have the same color pattern as the stripes.
  14. From what I understand next season will be sort of a hybrid of a traditional city based model and tour based model. Hope that means the schedule predominantly consist of true home/away games. They still need some neutral site games IMO for the sake of exposing other parts of the country to the league. Said it before and said it again, this sports still needs to grow beyond the northeast.
  15. Posted on the league's facebook page today
  16. Whichever league has deeper pockets behind it will likely be the one left standing.
  17. Is this a separate entity from the upcoming League One Volleyball (LOVB)? EDIT: I should've read the previous posts first
  18. Take the kelly green throwbacks. Put the modern wing decals on the helmets. Put the eagle head logo on the sleeves. Make a corresponding white jersey. Make a kelly green pants options (because it's 2023 gosh darnit!) Make a set of kelly green socks. Boom finished!
  19. Given the fact that Paul Rabil went to DeMatha Catholic High School in Maryland, I'm surprised he didn't green light one of the deer logos for the Redwoods. DeMatha's team name is the Stags.
  20. More PLL original 6 concepts. Released.
  21. Apparently the Whipsnakes almost ended up being named the Novas instead.
