  1. I prefer white scripts on navy for the Twins because it helps distinguish them from most other navy and red teams and their alternates: The Nats are the only other navy & red team who use white scripts on their navy alts.
  2. Thanks! I've already found a font that matches that one pretty closely. I'll get working on your ideas soon. Good. That's the idea. Today I have another Giants concept: GIANTS (Discrim recreation): It hit me that @Discrim nailed what a Giants City Connect uniform should look like a full six years before Nike crapped out their "fog" design last season. This is merely my humble attempt to recreate that concept. Discrim's design incorporates most of the iconography I think of when I think of San Francisco: the Golden Gate Bridge, trolley cars (which I poached from the Warriors' uniforms) and "The City" nickname, done in the Giants' typeface. The only changes I made were to basically combine his home and road design into one and replace orange with international orange of the Golden Gate Bridge. I don't think I can come up with something better than this for the Giants, so why try to improve on perfection?
  3. It was tricky with the A's because instead of working with just one color (royal blue) I had to balance two. For your suggestion, I went with white scripts and numbers because 1) it looked better than with green and 2) it more obviously references the Royals design: I also tweaked the pant stripes. Good idea! Here's a full set with the crown. I also added front numbers, which is something I meant to do initially: ROYALS x 1973 A's HOME ROYALS x 1973 A's ROAD ROYALS x 1973 A's HOME/ROAD And here's a closer look at the crown logo: HAHA! Would you believe me if I said I had the exact same scepter idea for the Royals? I didn't go through with it because I wasn't sure how it would turn out. The fact that you suggested it however prompted me to revisit the idea, and I'm glad I did because I love how it turned out: To be honest, I didn't even think about the Cards in powder blue because it's something they've done before so I'm not sure what I'd do differently to make them more "Royalsy." But if you have a specific suggestion I'd be more than happy to try it out. Easy fix. I admit it's much cleaner and still conveys the same idea: Thanks again for all the feedback! Thanks a lot! Hope you continue to follow along.
  4. Good suggestions! I’m already starting to form some ideas on how to implement them, but I’m having trouble finding a reference photo for the Summerfest marquee. Which sign are you referring to?
  5. That's an easy fix: I think I may prefer the contrasting front numbers, but this still looks nice. I also decided to try the design with a white front paneled cap: I think the cap logo might pop a bit better against a white background. Thoughts?
  6. Thanks! Up today is my tweak of the Brewers set which was unveiled yesterday: BREWERS: All in all I like what Nike did with Milwaukee, but I can't help but find the set a bit half baked. The first change I knew I had to make was was POWDER. BLUE. PANTS. It blows my mind that, given the number of teams to jump back on the powder blue bandwagon over the past few years, the Brewers of all teams have held out. This was the perfect opportunity to recommit to it and they still blew it. The next big change was the cap design. Based on countless comments I've read both on this forum and on Twitter, everyone seems to dislike the cap. (I saw a fair number of Brewers fans suggest putting the baseball grill logo on the cap, but I tried that and it just doesn't work.) Personally, I appreciate what Nike was trying to do here, but I don't think the execution works, so I decided to scrap the MKE/44 altogether and, inspired by this fashion cap I came across online, come up with a new design that combines the BiG logo with the People's Flag of Milwaukee. Here's a closer look at the cap logo: I also modified the team's current barrel style numbers to match the "Brew Crew" script--gold with navy drop shadows. I added front numbers because I think they help balance the design and bring it in line with their other jerseys. I was initially annoyed by the lack of navy piping on the sleeves, but after reading that it's supposed to resemble foamy beer, I was OK with it. And given that explanation, it made no sense to keep the single stripe of gold on the collar. The baseball grill on the sleeve goes untouched because it's easily the single best thing about the entire design. I also worked up a version of the uniform in colors truer to the People's Flag: It's definitely more distinctive than powder blue, but I'm not convinced it wouldn't make people's retinas detach on the field. Let me know what you think! I hope I did your team proud, @NicDB.
  7. Great job! The pink is so much more distinctive than "caliente red." I would like to see the set with front numbers, though. It's a nitpick I have with the current Fish jerseys. They look too barren without them.
  8. What's the name of the font you used for the Dodgers' numbers? I might want to use that in the future.
  9. All in all I like it. It's probably the weakest one Nike has unveiled this year, but it's still pretty solid. It would definitely shoot up a few spots in my rankings had they gone full powder blue, and I wish there was navy piping on the sleeves & collar. Also wish they had gone with gold numbers with a navy drop shadow to match the script. I do really love the baseball grill logo, though.
  10. Those rounded numbers for the Royals are just excellent. I'd love if they adopted something like that in real life.
  11. Thanks! Next up are the Royals and A's! ROYALS x 1973 A's I gave the Royals a mono-royal blue look, a la the A's all green and all gold unis from 1973. I'm surprised this isn't something the Royals actually tried in the '70s, as I think they could've really pulled it off. I also worked up a blackletter style "R" in the style of the A's cap/jersey logo. A's x 1985 ROYALS It made sense to try the A's in powder blue, a color they never used but which the Royals famously wore during the 1970-80s and have since brought back. White script and numbers were a must since that was such a distinguishing feature of those road unis. Balancing powder blue with green, gold and white trim was a bit tricky but I think I pulled it off. C&C appreciated!
  12. Sure thing. The templates can be found in this thread: Up next is something I've been meaning to get to for a while, a full set of uniforms based on the D-Backs' City Connect design: DIAMONDBACKS HOME: DIAMONDBACKS ROAD: DIAMONDBACKS ALT: Let me know what you think!
  13. Angels City Connects look great on the field tonight.
  14. Fair enough. Maybe I'll work up a red "Canada Day" set for the Expos as an alternative. I'm back with another relocation set! RED SOX x 1972 BRAVES For the Red Sox, I once again took inspiration from those 1970s Braves uniforms, this time borrowing from the local NBA team and replacing the sleeve feathers with four leaf clovers. The script "Boston" was used by the 1941-45 Boston Braves. BRAVES x 1908 RED SOX A very spartan design mean to showcase the tomahawk on the front of the jersey a la the large red stocking on Boston's 1908 uniforms. I also reversed the colors of the Braves' striped stirrups to emphasize red over navy. C&C appreciated!
  15. Great job with every team so far! My only nitpick with the White Sox is the lack of front numbers on the road jersey. Other than that, I love it, especially the black "White Sox" alt.
  16. The Boston Marathon has taken place for nearly 130 years. You might feel differently but I don't think the fact that there was a terror attack one year should permanently taint any association with it.
  17. I know Nike are considered marketing geniuses but I do think it was somewhat of a mistake to introduce the City Connect program with the Boston set because it was such a dramatic departure from their everyday look, which is of course so iconic. I think introducing the program with either the White Sox, Marlins or even Cubs would have better conditioned people to be a little more open-minded to what Boston did.
  18. The Dodgers have one of the weakest City Connect sets and I still think the black "graffiti" spray paint effect on the sleeves is dumb, but I have to admit it works much better paired with black undershirts. I agree about the socks.
  19. Up next are the Angels! I really love the recently-revealed Angels set. From the off-white look to the funky script to the thick stripes on only one sleeve (I wish more teams did quirky stuff like this), I think this has the foundation for a fantastic Angels redesign. Therefore, my tweaks are very subtle. I made the halo gold, ditched the silver outlines on the numbers and replaced the team's primary logo on the roundel with the new cap logo: ANGELS HOME: I also worked up a road, alt and fauxback design: ANGELS ROAD: ANGELS ALT: ANGELS 1998 FAUXBACK: With seemingly no one being able to agree on what city/county the Angels should claim in their name, I figured it might work just to slap "Angels" on every jersey in their set. The fauxback is based on their late '90s Disney design. C&C appreciated!
  20. Yeah, I can safely say I prefer these to the Angels’ every day uniforms. Great stuff. I’ve long said the current Angels set isn’t bad, but after 20+ seasons it’s starting to look just a little bit stale, and a pseudo-retro approach seems to work well for them. Only small nitpick is that I wish the halo was gold.
