  1. I think the Martinique flag just goes half a step too far; I think it's a little busy with the middle circle and the stars switching colors. I'd do a green circle around the blue conch, and then blue stars.
  2. Their goal is to be a poor man’s Federal League.
  3. A radio bit from the 40s has absolutely no bearing on whether or not Anaheim is a major city in 2019. You might as well live by Issac Newton's opinion of New York City... it will be just as relevant today.
  4. They said in the article that the Eagles claim they've tried to return it, but how can you fail at that? Pay someone to drive it to the ECHL office (which I can only assume is inside a Wendy's somewhere).
  5. The Colorado Eagles pulled a wrestling move and took the ECHL's Kelly Cup with them to the AHL. http://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/26871757/echl-kelly-cup-never-returned-champions?platform=amp
  6. Outdoor football leagues don’t stick around long enough for us to ruminate on whether they’re having up or down years.
  7. Flats for life! But I don't think it's a great likeness. Other than that, it's a solid look. The wet wipe shoulder patch is amazing.
  8. The face and a lot of the helmet are better in the new, but I think the concept is stronger in the old. A mashup (I think someone posted a pretty good one recently) would be best.
  9. So at least a six-year suspension? For a misdemeanor charge? 90 days in jail? It's a joke, and that's not an endorsement of what he did. He should be suspended from the NHL for 90 days and in jail for six years. Looking to sports leagues for justice lets prosecutors off the hook.
  10. If you can work a graphic orgy into the first episode, I think you've got yourself a producer deal, admiral.
  11. Honestly, I think this is going to be the new model going forward. With so many subscription services with high-profile exclusive content, a lot of people are going to be doing a month here and a month there IMO. I'll give CBS $10 for one month to watch Star Trek Discovery, but I'm not going to stick around after. I'm seriously considering ditching Netflix for a Hulu/Disney+ bundle later this year, but if Netflix comes up with enough quality things I want to watch? I can just switch back for a month with no big disruption. For now, at least. The whole world wants an auto-renew subscription on your credit card.
  12. ABC-themed restaurant? It's been done. https://yesterland.com/soapopera.html
  13. http://wikimapia.org/#lang=en&lat=33.805504&lon=-117.899137&z=15 You could absolutely fit another park with that sea of surface parking surrounding the stadium. Connecting it to the rest of the Disney resort area and dealing with the city would be the questions. Disney has already shown that parking garages are a viable option for them, so parking can go up instead of out.
  14. No analogy is perfect, but DCA 1.0 was like the fish stick jersey of the theme park world. It was notoriously built on the cheap, and reinvented a concept that didn't need reinventing. The money they spent fixing it was plausibly what should have been spent initially + reasonable expansion that could have happened even if the park was successful. IMO the most money to be made from the stadium land is to sell the bulk of the land to Disney, while leaving some outparcels for third parties to bid on for hotels. The only problem would be getting the third-party hotels in a fortuitous spot, rather than next to the horse barn.
  15. Or when we built the Canadarm for the space shuttle?
  16. ... which is why Gilbert Perreault wore #11 with the Sabres.
  17. If that cake was sleeping on its back, it might still be in one piece today. Parenting joke FTW
  18. @Brian in Boston Cake Babies gets shortened to “Babies”; Baby Cakes gets shortened to “Cakes”.
  19. I’d wager money that “Baby Cakes” happened because googling “New Orleans King Cakes” would likely always lead to recipes, news stories, bakeries that will ship them, etc. about the actual cakes even if the baseball team was called “King Cakes” today. Naming them Baby Cakes gets someone to the MiLB shop faster through a search engine. Not that I like it (agree with @B-Rich even though my first time ever in Louisiana will be Saturday), but I bet that’s why it happened.

  21. The Spanish onomatopoeia for a rooster crow is quiquiriqui (kee-kee-reh-kee); it's my favorite onomatopoeia. I absolutely want the El Paso or whoever Quiquiriqui.
