  1. Part of me wonders what it would look like if they added panels to the right side. Something like the first Lebron set? While I do like the giant C logo, the other side needs something.
  2. The real question is who the hell is signing off on these uniforms? Do fans really want to buy a plain white tank top? If so, counterfeit companies must be licking their chops. The Jazz uniforms are a disaster, but at least they managed to put some sort of design effort into them. It's funny that so many were surprised we didn't get any leaks of the Cavs jerseys. I bet it's because people saw them and just assumed they were practice jerseys or something for the summer league. I usually try not to blame designers, because I know the client is king. But the Cavs hired this apparently internationally renowned artist to have complete control over their brand and I can't say I like any of his decisions aside from the updated color scheme. The updated logos are a jumbled mess of eras, generic and the new uniforms are embarrassingly boring. Sometimes being an artist doesn't automatically make you qualified to control a sports brand.
  3. Nothing about that teaser has me excited. Ever since the Cavs switched back to wine and gold/yellow, they have flipped back and forth between decent modern uniforms and bland simplistic uniforms. Guess we're heading back towards boring and simplistic. Seems like just plain white, wine and black uniforms with a giant C logo on the left leg.
  4. Depends on an individual's definition of a bad helmet. I have no problem and even like color swaps. While most will be unnecessary, I'm even okay with a black helmet as long as it's a color in their branding. The design just needs to make sense. The Saints helmet doesn't fit their branding or alternate uniform. It would be like the Chiefs having a white helmet with curved stripes on it like the Panthers, Titans having traditional stripes on a light blue helmet or the Jaguars doing something out of left field like spots.
  5. The Saints helmets are easily the worst out of all the new alternates so far. It's a jumbled mess that has a design element ripped off another NFL team and is completely disjointed from the uniform it is going to be paired with. I'd assume that the Saints and Commanders are probably the worst case scenarios under the new helmet rule. Since every other helmet has been either a throwback or color swap, which is how it should be.
  6. Are the uniforms still done by Majestic? I'd be all for a City Connect type design for every team. Baseball is huge in these countries and a little creativity would go a long way and they would sell a crap ton of merch. I'm so sick of all these international tournaments all using templated designs that just swap out colors and call it a day.
  7. This. I get that they have different uniform designs, but man their colors, classic striping and the fact that both teams have circle logos. It's just too close together for my liking. I've always preferred the Oilers in navy. I almost feel like whenever they play each other, one of the teams seems to wear an alternate. Maybe others feel the same way or it's just a coincidence.
  8. My first thought was it looks like a really hot takeout container.
  9. Exactly. I'm struggling to understand the reasoning of why the stars are placed where they are. They could have easily been incorporated into more logos if they really wanted to. Like in the negative space of the Cubs/Guardians/Royals C's or the Mets/Yankees Y's. To have them just randomly floating around makes no sense.
  10. Is it just me or do all the stars seem to be inconsistent with sizes? Almost looks like the bigger the hat logo, the bigger the star. Rangers/Orioles/Jays/Brewers all look bigger, while the Mets/Tigers look really tiny.
  11. Agree completely. I'd assume it comes down to budget and the fact that Nike doesn't really care as long as the jerseys have a swoosh on there.
  12. There are lots of big brands with bad logos but those were the first few I could think of. Lowe's is weird because it almost seems to use two different fonts. The "S" just seems wonky compared to the rest of the letters. Dicks has the apostrophe balls and the "sporting goods" font seems scrunched underneath. The used to have a lot of unnecessary gradients, but think those have gone away recently.
  13. Marathon is one of those logos that seems to have been around for so long you forget how terrible it actually is. Lowes, Dicks Sporting Goods, Trader Joes, etc fall into this category too. Only now looking at the new look it really shows how awkward that "M" was and how bland the branding has been. It's not a drastic change that many will notice, but it's a big improvement.
  14. I thought the black on the away jersey had to do more with the helmet? Could have sworn they wanted to wear the black helmet with the white uniforms at some point, which made the black a requirement. I'm assuming the NFL is just preventing a team that has no black in their uniforms from randomly adding a black helmet. Whereas the 49ers had all black alternates and have no black anywhere else on their main home/away, so they were okay.
  15. Damn the Angels and Nike definitely hit it out of the park with this one. The only thing that bothers me is that it's so much better than their regular branding.
  16. With the way this is going, I wouldn't be surprised if the Cavs+net+ball logo eventually becomes the main logo within the next 5 years. I wasn't around for the 80s teams and have absolutely no connection to the orange/blue era. Maybe some Cavs fans do, but the team is trying way too hard to combine as many eras as possible with every new set of logos.
  17. The Cavs have officially reverted back to "Thunder/Clippers/Nets" branding. Where your identity is now completely void of any design elements that reference your team's name. They are now just a generic basketball team. You could literally switch the name from Cavaliers to anything else and these logos would still work. It's the same problem they had from 80s-2000s.
  18. I don't know who they hired to draw that shield. It had to be someone who just opened Adobe Illustrator for the first time ever or a live trace of something. Those top 3 points drive me insane. What's even crazier is that the alternate shield, with basketball lines, is actually drawn fine and has sharp lines. Both need to go regardless.
  19. Even though the two-color C is an improvement, I've never really felt the drop shadow was necessary. It always seemed clunky and awkward. I prefer the simpler 2D C used on the championship black sleeved jerseys. As for the colors, I think switching the gold took away a nice "pop" of color. Old gold, wine and black are all a bit dull together.
  20. The Cavs have really never had a good logo. The 2010-2017 probably had the strongest set, yet it still felt a bit amateurish and with bland uniforms. Since then it's been an inconsistent mess. I'm assuming whatever they do next will be more of the same and disappointing. I always wanted to see what a modernized version of the original 70s logo would look like. But that would add yet another roundel logo to the world.
  21. The XFL should avoid Houston or any other city occupied by the USFL. It feels inevitable that the leagues will merge at some point. So many of these leagues can't even finish their first seasons, I have a hard time believing two can successfully co-exist. Have to think the XFL's relationship to the NFL already gives them an advantage.
  22. The Spurs logos are bad, but not really all that surprising when looking around the league. The NBA has some of the worst, most amateur-looking logos out of any major US professional sports league.
  23. The spur on SATX seems a bit forced. I almost wish they would have had it angled, like the primary logo, coming off the left side of the A.
  24. Both the "L" and "X" are awkward as hell. Huge downgrade for sure. I guess a positive is that it's so small in the interface, that it's really not very noticeable.
  25. The font feels like it was a client pick. There's nothing wrong with it, just very simple. I'm biased but I miss the original Bosack angled font introduced in the 2000s.
