My apologies for not being precise. Okay, damn near half the league has an alternate helmet now and I only expect that number to grow. Better?

It’s one thing if a few teams have alternate helmets. It’s quite another when half the league does. I wanted an end to the one helmet rule, but I didn’t think that it would involve a monkey’s paw curling. That’ll teach me to hope for better things. I’m just wondering how long before the Chiefs break out an all-yellow Color Rush look plus yellow helmet. I’ll call it the Planet Piss look.

Basically, what we’re worried about is that the NFL is going to go for the braindead TikTok/“that was fire” demographic without any consideration for their current fans. I get that you need to expand markets to grow the sport and what not, but how the hell can you build an identifiable brand when that brand radically changes week to week? What is the plan beyond that short term burst of endorphins from selling new merchandise? Why are we appealing to people who say fire as much as Beavis and are about as smart?

Considering that Manfred basically said “No comment” to recent events (probably because taking the stance that would align with taking the All-Star Game out of Atlanta wouldn’t go over well with the Hispanics and relatively conservative whites who make up a lot of their player base I imagine), I think he’s saying that era of getting involved with politics is over and it wouldn’t surprise me if Atlanta is awarded an All-Star Game in the near future.

Considering the trend is smaller and smaller ballparks? I could see them using the Sounds ballpark and charging up the wazoo for All-Star Game tickets with the atmosphere of Nashville being Vegas with a twang as the selling point. These games don’t mean a damn thing so why not play into everything else about the All-Star Game?

Wouldn’t surprise me if it winds up being Atlanta. Seems like Manfred is trying to put as much distance between any outside influences that could impact such a decision as he can and MLB itself. Should, though? Maybe Nashville? Maybe the All-Star Game should be in prospective markets rather than current ones?
