Thanks! It's interesting that they are as 'late' as they are. Now I wonder how many of them were sprung upon us without warning? Maybe that is why this seems late, since there's been nary a leak.

We need a sticky thread that lists the unveil dates of new uniforms so we can objectively say when it's 'late'.

If you have a team that is supposed to be based on running and defense, you don't want to have Steve Spurrier coach it (because he'll admittedly want to 'pitch the rock cause it was so nice out there') or possibly Aaron Rodgers, because he will check out of called runs because he wants to throw. I cheer for the uniform and colors, not the player wearing them. He was/is an odd duck, but he used to be MY odd duck. Now? Let's see if we suck under Love or not. I have no real feelings toward Rodgers, because he isn't (almost) on my team any longer.

Russ was the same rules as Hurts, but an odd case. His agent ONLY has him for a client, so he doesn't care about how negotiations go, since they can't be used against him with other teams or clients. The agent holds out for the best deal possible. Players didn't want rookies making so much money, so they limited the amount of money that they could make, but also got shorter contracts for draftees after round 1 so that they could be free agents sooner. Owners and players both liked the deal.

Because there's a limit to how far-sighted they can be in negotiating a contract (NFL and NFLPA). NFLPA gives up some negotiating rights for first rounders in exchange for more movement beyond the first round.
