"HISTORY AND THE FUTURE: A new image for the Ramparts

Quebec City, Tuesday, September 12, 2023  The management of the Quebec Remparts today presents the brand new jersey that the players of the 2023-2024 edition will wear for the very first time on the sidelines of the opening game of the season, on September 23. Under the theme, "Remembering our history, to build our future", this jersey, completely redesigned, brings back the history of the team of the '70s.

Changing the uniform is a long-term job. For nearly two years, the first sketches of the new jersey were developed in-house and subsequently, with the support of the CCM company and its staff, more elaborate projects of the sweater were finalized to achieve the result we know today.

The new jerseys, which feature the logo of the Remparts' glorious years jersey, are presented in two colours. The jersey that will be worn at home is red, with a white stripe at the bottom and on the sleeves, while we find on the shoulders the logo that identified the team until the end of last season, thus demonstrating the team's belonging to Quebec City and its fans. As for the white jersey with a red stripe at the bottom and on the sleeves, it will be worn when the team plays on the road. Quebec City fans, however, will have the chance to see their favorites wear both, since according to QMJHL rules, Remparts players will wear the white jersey at home, starting in January. The team's new jerseys are presented

"By using the old logo, we wanted above all to bring back the dynasty of the Remparts of the '70s and thus recall the history and tradition of the team. Several former star players of the team of that time, including Guy Lafleur, proudly wore the Remparts jersey and it is with this same pride that our players will wear it in September, "said Tommy Castonguay, vice-president of operations of the organization.

"We are embarking on a new turn with the rebuilding of the team and it is our young players, accompanied by veterans, who will continue to make history alive while building the future of the team. For several years now, we have always attached importance to the past, whether in the team's dressing room with the honor roll "One history, one tradition ... " where all the Remparts recipients who have won the various QMJHL trophies, as well as all the team rosters since 1969 are found. That's why, in designing this new sweater, we wanted to bring back this past, full of history and which, without a doubt, is one of the Remparts' golden years," concluded Assistant Executive Director Nicole Bouchard."

They're missing a cuff stripe on the whites.

As long as the rest of the look is true to history, these could be fantastic.

Apparently they already wore these as tribute jerseys, but I can't find game action pics.

Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

I caught Wenatchee Wild GM Bliss Littler on the Pipeline Podcast, he said that the Wild don't have enough time to design and order sets of uniforms for this year so they will be using the Winnipeg ICE template with Wild logos on them.

(Not sure if that means they will be sewing Wild logos directly over the ICE logos on the existing uniform sets? Or if they will be making new Wild jerseys with the Wild logo right on them, he didn't get into that level of detail.)

It appears Wenatchee was able to at least get the white jerseys in.

Not that those are anything special and they're now the third WHL team to currently be wearing this template, but they're definitely not the Ice jerseys.

Interesting. I wonder if this is how it's going to be for the foreseeable future? Or is this just a "temporary", maybe off-the-shelf look until something permanent can be devised and rolled out?

I'm hoping it's a temporary thing because it's a pretty underwhelming brand right now, including the logos. The primary has issues and that shoulder patch stinks.

Wenatchee Wild dark uniforms, Chicago Blackhawks style.

Looks like a rush job, but a far sight better than just sewing the Wild logo over the ICE logo on the old sets as the Wild were hinting at doing during the offseason.

I think these could have been improved dramatically by simplifying the logo to just the wolf-head component without the roundel and lettering. They could have used the shoulder patches to highlight where they're from.

Vancouver Giants will wear referee jerseys for referee appreciation night on Oct. 22 as part of a fundraiser.  The actual officials for this game will be wearing special uniforms of their own.

A couple missed opportunities here: Refs wear black helmets, so that would have been nice to see. Also, blaze orange cuffs on the gloves would have brought home the referee vibe.

I hate what they did to the brand.

In some ways this was inevitable, considering the close ties between the VGK and BWK. I was at the Wheat Kings game on Saturday and there is some merch with that logo available, but it is not what I'd consider to be especially prominent. Looks like something that might get used for a couple of years before it gets retired.

Was this done by the same designer who did the Oil Kings' lime green EOK logos/jerseys?
