Well Bowie State, Frostburg State and Towson all lost today so the only team left from Maryland is Johns Hopkins

SN: North Carolina A&T won the MEAC and will return to the Celebration Bowl. The SWAC championship game is next week between Southern and Alcorn State. The winner plays A&T in the Celebration Bowl

Notre Dame College, Valdosta State, Ferris State and Minnesota State Mankato won their respective regions, advancing to the D2 semifinals. Gotta wait and see how the NCAA seeds them. Safe to bet on Ferris State being the 4th seed since the other three semifinal were the number 1 seed of their regions. Ferris was a 2 seed.

Division 3 semifinals are set. It'll be Mary Hardin-Baylor vs Wisconsin-Whitewater and Mount Union vs Johns Hopkins. Guess the only surprise would be if Hopkins advanced.

Wrong... In Division II, the semifinals will be (4) Notre Dame College at (1) Valdosta State and (3) Ferris State at (2) Minnesota State-Mankato.

Looks like two of the FCS playoff games will be televised this weekend. Weber State vs Maine will be on ESPN2 Friday night a 8pm EST. North Dakota State vs Colgate will be on Saturday on ESPN at noon. The other FCS games will be streamed on ESPN3.

And Dan/Ty of "The Solid Verbal" will be in Fargo this weekend too.

Unsurprisingly, Mount Union is going to the Stagg Bowl again.  Hopkins seems to have put up one hell of a fight, though, as the Purple Raiders only won 28-20

My money's on the team in purple to win it all and be undefeated.

The Championship games for Divisions 2 and 3 are set. Valdosta State vs Ferris in D2. Mary Hardin-Baylor vs Mount Union in the Stagg Bowl

SN: MHB has made some deep runs the last couple of seasons. Think it's safe to say they've joined Mount Union and Wisconsin-Whitewater in the top tier of D3?

Yeah, I'd say so, given they just whipped us pretty good.  MHB's done a much better job of it then Wesley ever did.

Another lower division California football program bites the dust as Division II Humboldt State played it's final game yesterday after 91 years.

Just came across this a month later, but I can’t say this surprises me. The travel costs alone would have to make them fielding a team pretty prohibitive. College (University) football north of Sacramento is a pretty rare thing from what I know. There just aren’t that many schools for how big the area is. Schools like Chico State haven’t had a team in decades. Smaller colleges in general haven’t been able to make it cost effective in a long time. Hayward State (CSU East Bay now, I think?) cut their football program in the 90s as well, and I don’t think the less well known UCs in the Bay Area or even the private colleges have football either.

In times like this, I wish some form of reduced man football was considered a varsity sport by the NCAA, NAIA or somebody.  Wouldn't have these CA schools dropping football left and right.
