2024 NBA Offseason Thread

Better hope LeBron has an anti-aging regimen that puts Brady to shame because man, his mediocre son and the worst white-guy-overconfidence coach in recorded history aren't gonna solve much. Can we get a 3rd option for an asterisk title for them to win?

Has there ever been a more pointless/meaningless NBA Draft?

How do you possibly ascribe any meaning to a draft when everyone involved is still four months from playing a minute in the NBA?

I still don't know why LeBron's son couldn't just enter the transfer portal if USC was no longer an option. He might've been able to improve his value somehow, even if he would still end up drafted.

Is he really that desperate to play with his dad or is he being pushed to?

I've seen the light.

A Delonte West joke is a bit too grim.

Column A and Column B.

I actually feel for the kid.  He has to walk into that locker room that's filled with some players who have busted their ass and know what it takes to make (and stay in) the league, and he knows that everyone knows why he's there.  He also knows that everything he has is because of his more-successful father, who he's being forced to play along side of and be made a fool of when it's clear that his dad is twice the player he is.

I know nobody feels sorry for a rich kid, and maybe I'm totally wrong about all of this, but no matter what he has in life, he can't feel that great about himself, and his dad is just making it worse.  I actually do feel for the guy.

Or maybe I'm wrong and he walks into that locker room and doesn't give a F and is just like "I'm in the NBA, this is cool!  Oh you worked hard to get here Mr. point guard?  Cool story. I didn't - now get out of my way btch."

We'll see what summer league looks like. If Bronny is completely out of his league -- and that says a lot -- he might make the roster at the back of the bench, but they can find a heart injury for him soon enough.

Mid case scenario is he's actually a decent practice player and can get into games at garbage time.

Best case is he has one of those Austin Rivers careers and has a few moments along the way.

It'll be more fun when we go through all of this in a couple of years with LeBron's next kid.

Speaking of families in the league, whatever happened to the Big Ballers?  LaMelo, Lonzo, and I can't remember the other.  Hell - their dad was on Monday Night Raw.  I was really hoping they'd take over the league.

The more I think of it, I wish I had a son so that I could get him drafted into CCSLC and we could be the first father/son posters (that I know of).  I don't know what his user name would be.  El Hijo del BBtV?  Vet McGillicuddy?  Vet Breaker?

Greg Vet if he's in a range - he wants Brody and he wants him in a cage.

A good WrestleRock Rumble reference can get over here.

Two of them have been good to very good. Injuries have dampened some of the hype, though.

Lonzo didn't live up to the hype but was turning into a pretty decent role player until he wrecked his knee a couple years ago. He's  missed the last two full seasons and even if he does play again he's permanently damaged goods.

LaMelo is the new Stephon Marbury, i.e. decent counting stats on awful teams because somebody has to score the points. And after a quick run over to B-R to double check myself on that, it seems that he hardly ever plays either.

I think LiAngelo got arrested in Taiwan or something weird.

This is how I feel about it too. Seems like a nice kid, but I don't think he's asked for any of this big spectacle around him and it feels like a no-win situation unless he (very quickly) overperforms in the league. Is this even the career/life he wants? Especially after the medical stuff? I saw a tweet that said "actually it's really good that Bronny stays in LA because that's where his medical team is" and I thought that was just so grim. Just get him a desk job for Nike if that's what we're worrying about.

In the past nba playoffs, I was thinking if the Lakers or Timberwolves would have been the first team NBA history to come back from a 0-3 lead against the Nuggets or Mavericks respectively. But when I look back and remember that the first round of the NBA playoffs prior to the 2002-03 season to was a best of 5 series, i thought why can't the entire playoffs be a best of 5? Since NO ONE will ever seem to come back from a 0-3 hole, it would satisfy the people that think the NBA playoffs go on wayy too long, as i am one of them, and make the games matter even more. Although because of possible money from extended series I know this won't happen, but since the team up 3-0 has to beat them one time and the one down 0-3 has to win 3 straight just to get to a game 7, it is neigh impossible, but would streamline things a little bit

Because the NBA and networks want more games to sell more tv time.

yeah this was just wishful thinking on my part, I know the NBA will never do it even though even people who watch the NBA religiously know that when a series is at the 3-0 mark there is no chance of them coming back
