Does anyone notice about the Green Philadelphia Phillies Jerseys they wore in 1989?

They wore green jerseys nearly every year when they had that design. Now they only wear green caps.

St. Patrick's Day. Many teams go green for the day in spring training. Even the A's and Devil Rays get into the craic (that's "fun" for you non-Irish types) on the 17th.

In order for the Mets' run of 12 losses in 17 games to mean something, the Phillies still had to win 13 of 17.

Did anyone notice the White Sox wore uniforms with green trim one day a week or so ago....anyone know the reason why on that one? I caught it on sportscenter and was totally confused.

I guess it was a "Halfway to St. Patrick's Day" promotion. I also seem to remember something about them wearing green because they were replacing seats in Comis... I mean, U.S. Cellular Field, and they were going from blue to green. I could be wrong on that, though. It has happened before. :D

The Twins also played in green jerseys with white trim at least once in the early 90's. They were lighter weight jerseys than their usual gameday unis. Heavy mesh with heavy white screenprinting as opposed to sewn twill logos and graphics.

If I am not mistaken the trend began when the Reds wore green versions of their home whites in the late 70's.

The A's, a couple years ago, wore red and blue instead of their customary green and yellow for the 4th of July, and maybe Memorial Day too......
