No, Chicago winning on the road had nothing to do with it, as previous road winners did the infield thing too. Order, tradition, and common sense have been restored, hopefully forever. Especially if the winning team is home. There is nothing cooler than seeing the trophy presented live. I was in 7th and 11th grade at the time and it did no harm to me to watch.The "onfield celebrations" are so lame and contrived. (Worst ever was the Bon-Jovi super bowl celebration a few years ago). Let them pour the champaign. Much more fun. Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse." If I want to see nonstop promos for Homer or Stewie, I can watch other times. And if I ever DO want to count the nose hairs or moles on a pitcher's face, I can probably find those on some medical channel or something. Really, do we need closeups that take over the screen THAT much? I mean, I have a measly 23" TV. I can only imagine the horror -- the horror! -- at a sports bar or on a wide screen.... Even if the home team lost the championship, seeing a major league trophy presentation isn't something they're gonna witness live often, plus it wouldn't be fair for the fans of the road team who made the trek to see their team finally win it all. (And in the case of the White Sox and Red Sox, these were significant championships ending two monumous droughts.) If the home team wins, the party can continue on the field or arena floor. After the on-field stuff, they should still show some champaign pouring and locker room interviews with the winners (even show it on the big-screen at the ball park).And come on, you have to agree with me that the Super Bowl really stepped in it with the Bon Jovi song--I think it was the one that Tampa won. Oh God i remember that!!!! That was just after the Bucs won the Super Bowl. I remember the announcers saying something like Now for the presentation of the Super Bowl Trophy to the tampa Bay Buccaneers, but first a preformance by Jon Bon Jovi with his hit song that noone can remember the name to because it was released like five years ago. I was so pissed but i figured, the Bucs had waited through 27 years of plopty luck and talent, i guess they can wait 3 more minutes through a plopty song. At least in the area of play, the fans in attendance can share the moment with their team. It works whether the winning team is at home, on the road or at a neutral site, as there are always fans of both teams present.The person who started this thread most likely was watching on TV, but I see no reason how presenting a trophy on the area of play subtracts from the game or TV coverage. With the fans in attendance being able to see their team get the trophy in person, at least something is added to the game. One person here may think trophy presentations should be held in the locker room, but there are probably many more people who think it should take place out on the field.
