Atlanta Hawks

Haven't posted a concept in a while, so here goes. I wanted to try something with more of an impactful image than the full-winged Hawk they use now. I also wanted to use subtle influences from their logo and uniform history, but do it in a modern way.

Is that a custom font? If so, why is the left part of the W lower? It looks unnecessarily weird.

Nice...i like it.

But i'm not sure about the away one. Maybe filling of white the main stripe it could looks better. I'm with HurricanDavid about that weird "W".

I tried the away jersey with the white stripe across the chest and it did look ok, but I dunno. Maybe it looked just too much like the early 80s unis. Minus the weird angles, of course.

Ahh, the W. I customized the font a little bit, and believe me, it looks better than it did normally. Not that one should ever stop working just because "hey, it's better." I kinda like the W as it adds interest. Maybe by the end of this I'll hate it. Who knows.

And for a yellow alt, I doubt if I'd make one just because I'm trying to minimize the yellow in this set. Just use it for accents, etc.

Very well done. It gives a nice mix of the past with a modern feel. I'm not sure of the alternate jersey though. The w in hawks looks a little awkward also.

Sheer perfection except for the stripe on the front and back of the pants, looks out of place on the front of them.

one thing bothers me about the logo. On the underside of his head, its white, and that carries over to the edge of the logo, opening up, etc. To me, its too plain, too much white. It gets lost. I think some kind of subtle shading would help. Cool concept!

I love the wordmark and the updated logo is solid. They jersey design, while I understand is a nod to the past, is just a bit too 80's for me.

You may have minimized the yellow too much. Some of the designs - the black ones especially - look too much like a Portland Trailblazers set. The Hawks make great use of red and yellow, which are unique since the Rockets abandoned these colors. I'd sooner use yellow than all that black - the Bulls and Blazers already do red and black, and teams like the 76ers use those colors heavily as well.

I like the tribute to the '80s as well. It's lost a little bit on the red set, since the lettering is on a red band on a red jersey. And that font, plus that band across the chest, reminds me more of '80s Pacers than Hawks, which had a serifed font and the band was angled.

I like the font. The hawk seems a bit unpolished and the yellow used is a bit flat for my liking. I think the drop shadow in the wordmark should be carried over to the uniforms.

I use the dropshadow + yellow in the numbers. On the Alternate, the shadow has red. I really thought about using it in the "Hawks" and "Atlanta" on the front, but decided that it made things too busy or intricate for lettering that is really only a few inches tall. But yes, I did try it. I went for "less is more".
