Anybody ever order a custom jersey from MLB.com?

I was going to order a custom jersey from MLB.com but it's my first time and I have a couple of questions.

When I get to the order page, there are a couple differences.

If I see a preview of an authentic (199$) jersey, the generated preview has the official team font and numbers... but if I do a replica (99$), the generated preview is a generic block font. I was wondering if I order a replica custom jersey, will I get the team numbers/font or will I get some generic font?

Also, will the numbers be stitched on? It says "tackle twill details" but that's it.

Save up for the full authentic jersey. The Replicas are stitched, but its this crappy cheap lookin one colored font. The authentics are the real deal full out authentics, its way worth it.

I was thinking of going authentic, but 200$US is a lot of cash for me to spend on a jersey. I was hoping to get one of decent quality for around 100$, but I guess that'll be tough to come by.

Do what I did...I wanted an authentic jersey but only wanted to spend $100-125, so I got myself an authentic Spring Training jersey. Still looks awesome and it's nearly half the price.

I've got 3 customized authentics from MLB.com. The difference between the authentics and the replicas (which I've seen for sale at Champs) is like night and day. The authentics are thicker, the lettering is the same as on the field, there is just no comparison.

It's worth it to save the money for the real deal.

I've got a question to add. Does the authentic's come with the Sleeves underneath attached to the jersey, or is it a sepperate shirt? Also if it is attached, is there anywhere to get a jersey without the attached sleeves?

If you mean vests, I think they come alone. I'm not sure if the undershirt comes with the vest if it has a path on it.

The MLB vests are separate from the undershirt, not sewn together. I read a while back that Majestic makes the undershirts that are issued with the jerseys, but most players don't wear them. They opt for Under Armour or Nike undershirts instead.

I think the only instance of an MLB team wearing the sleeves sewn onto the vests (fake vests, essentially) was the White Sox, sometime during the 1990's. I think that's what BIll Henderson said in the Style Guide. It looked like the alt vests they wear now, except it had the black sleeves sewn on them.

I was under the impression that if you buy the vests, you get the Majestic undershirt with it. The undershirt actually has the Pirate patch sewn on it, so it would make sense to sell it together. I could be totally wrong. Call Customer Service at MLB.com and ask them. They're nominally helpful sometimes.

I just went to MLB Shop and looked at the item. It says in bold: "VEST ONLY". So much for the undershirt.

The solution would be to buy the Pirates Sleeve Patch and sew it onto a black undershirt of your choice (Under Armour, Nike, Russell, whatever).

I know a guy who has access to the MLB patches. The National Emblem patch is the exact same one that goes on the jerseys. All you would need to do is buy your own undershirt.

I'm lucky...I live an hour from the Majestic plant. When I get any non-Yankees jersey, I just buy the replica blank, and take it to the plant, where I can get it authenticially lettered/numbered and outfitted with sleeve patches. I've gotten pretty nice looking Miguel Tejada/Carl Crawford/Jake Peavy/Andruw Jones/Dontrelle Willis jerseys this way...they look like authentics, but ran me about 100 bucks apiece (sometimes even less when they hold their factory clearance sales). Pretty good deal.

I do the same thing schwep does, and its definately the way to go. As far as the patches, get ones for National Emblem and take the plastic off the back. its a simple process using a razor blade and folding the patch a few times.

I ordered a Bay authentic alt pinstripe jersey and the one that shipped to me was the regular home white. The home white was $30 cheaper than the one I paid for. My order said I also qualified for free shipping. I got charged for shipping. I called customer service. They told me there was nothing I could do about the shipping. I was stuck the $12. I told them about the jersey. They said for me to ship it back to them at my expense, they would credit my card within 30 days of return of the jersey, and then to reorder the one I wanted. I was totally upset with their service. I said (cause I was getting it auto'd and needed it) why can't they just credit my card for the difference and I'll keep this one and after an hour on the phone, they finally agreed after explaining it over and over to them and they gave me like an extra $10 off or something totally lame. I don't know if I just had a bad experience or what. I'm really hesitant to reorder from them. I didn't like their customer service, the lack of respect for someone who just spend a few hundred dollars with them, and how crappy their other stuff is if you don't get an authentic one. Sometimes I think it's worth it to just buy directly from the team store at the stadiums. You can see it, hold it, and know what you're getting even though its overpriced.

There's a bunch of Pirate shirts around here (don't know about the net for the out of towners) that are black with the Pirate head on the sleeve. It would make for a perfect undershirt too. You'd think dropping that much coin on a jersey, you'd get the sleeve accessory too.

My 2004 Authentic Red's Home Griffey jersey did not come with a undershirt, but I've been looking for the Great American Ball Park patch to sew onto a red shirt for me to wear underneath it. Oh, and some sort of patch for my Team Canada jersey.

You can also try a site besides MLB.com - it's not a monopoly, ya know...

Not to be a shill, but I've had some work done by Exclusive Pro Sports, and it's been spot-on. And I know it doesn't cost $200. Another thing they offer is you can send them a blank, and they'll customize it for you. Correct colors, fonts, embroidery, the whole deal. I'm sending some stuff their way soon.

The owner's son is a member here on the CCSLC. Someone pointed me to them through here (but not through him) and they've been as good as advertised.

But MLB.com replica jerseys look like what you saw in the preview. You get what you pay for, so if you don't like it, save your cash. I would.

Where exactly is the Majestic plant? I live about an hour and a half west of Allentown, and I get out that way sometimes. Would appreciate some info--I'd love to visit the plant..
