Does WSU normally have a stripe on their helmet?

To my knowledge they didn't have a stripe on either helmet during the 2005 season:

Here is a picture from a Senior Bowl practice showing Harrison wearing the Cougars script helmet WSU wore against Washington. It's not the helmet he wore during the Senior Bowl itself:

I watched some of the game and believe that Harrison was wearing the home helmet/facemask (no stripe) with the road decal.

WSU151 got it right: It appears to be the white road decal on the home gray helmet:

There also doesn't appear to be a stripe down the center, and the cougs haven't had any helmet stipe in a real game for quite some time.

And about the three helmets, it's pretty simple: Home (gray), Road (crimson), and throwback (gray with 'cougars' script). The throwback is to my knowledge only used in our rivalry game with UW, mainly because we're 3-0 since 1997 when we wear those helmets against the huskies (0-6 without 'em).

Of course I hear Oregon will be trying to upstage us next year with three different colored helmets of their own. Now that might be a little excessive.

While the throwback has been a little bit more lucky against the Huskies recently, I don't think the 3-0 record since 1997 is quite correct. If I recall, the "Cougars" helmet was on the losing side in 1998 and 1999. The WSU decal appeared in 1999, but wasn't used in Seattle in the Apple Cup. The two helmet system debuted in 2000.

I used to think that teams like WSU that wore more than one helmet looked pretty damn cool, but lately ive been of the opinion that WSU needs to just pick a helmet and stick to it. Three helmets in one year? When you get a football helmet you have to break it in and get used to the way it feels on the hit and the way it wears, and that takes awhile to accomplish, and its not terribly easy either. THREE helmets have got to be one helluva headache, literally.

It's not three separate helmets, bucfan. They change the decals on the silver helmets, and I don't know for sure, but I was told by sources in the AD several years ago that they paint the helmets to create the home/road change. At most it's two helmets, but it may be one helmet, with the equipment management team making different changes.

You're right 151, I forgot about that. So I guess that makes it 3-2 against UW with script helmets and 0-4 without.

If I remember correctly, and I may not since I drank a lot after the game, didn't they also wear the script helmet in the Rose Bowl with the stem of the rose intertwined through the word?

Edit: I was wrong. The rose went through the regular logo.
